I remember as a kid there seem to be nothing but Lays potato chips, Cheetos, Fritos, and Doritos. Later came Ruffles and Pringles. Now at our local grocery store more than one side of an isle is all chips with many different variations of each original chip. Lately I have been eating Ruffles Ranch & Jalapeno potato chips.

When you come to the United States, you should focus on a specific region because they each have very unique and delicious food. I’m from Texas, and we have great beef barbecue and Tex-Mex. There are also some Southern foods, like chicken fried steak, that have origins around here since Texas is technically Southern. The Southeast (or Deep South) has great pork barbecue and Southern comfort food. The Northeast and Northwest have two different kinds of seafood specialties, but they are both good. Louisiana has a lot of French inspired food, but you shouldn’t go there expecting to find very many foods that are directly from France. There are tons of other food styles and cultures here, but they are each good in unique ways. Merci pour vos opinions. Pour moi, j’aime les Kit-Kats.

Fun Fact: When Stephen Spielberg was in production with his movie, E.T., his producers reached out to the Mars company to see if they could use their M&M candies for the scene where Elliot lures E.T. out of the garden shed and into the house. Mars declined, and so Spielberg and the producers reached out to other companies to find a similar candy. Reese's, which wasn't really much of a competitor at that time, took a chance and let them use their Reese's Pieces for the scene. After the movie came out, sales for the candies soared, and Reese's has been a high seller of peanut butter candies ever since. Because they took a chance, E.T. put Reese's on the map.

My father was a chef for 35 years and was an expert in about 12 cuisines, French and Italian, being 2 out of the 12. He worked in 4 and 5 star michelin restaurants, so I got to eat the best of the best, as a child and teen. It’s the home of the theme park and factory where they make Hershey Chocolate, Reese’s Peanut Butter cups and all of the Reese’s products, Jolly Rancher candies, Kit Kat bars... all kinds of great stuff. They have a factory tour with free candies and a huge store... and the theme park and water park are outstanding and very fun... and all Hershey’s themed. Hershey is also a great town to explore. Milton Hershey was a great man and his story is very interesting. He was very generous and kind. He created a great school for underprivileged youth and contributed greatly to helping society in many ways. 🙂

That is a great story, I have heard it many times with slight variations unfortunately it's only about 80% true... the more complete version is more crazy...
In the mid to late 30s a British company (Roundtree) was already making a version of an older Spanish candy. Then Forest Mars was looking for a way to enter the candy business without benefit of his father's company. While living in Britain he discovered the British version and knew someone in the family that controlled the British company. Since they didn't invent the concept they were willing to share the idea provided he didn't use the same brand name.... since he was going to introduce them in another country. This worked for him because the name was already trademarked in the USA. So he started M&M (Mars & Murrie) independent of the existing Mars candy co. operated by his father.... He happened to hit the timing spot on just prior to us entry in WWII. Especially since Murrie his business partner was the son of Hershey's president and they had control of rationed chocolate supplies for the war effort.. really quite crazy

An interesting assortment of products. I'm from the US and have never seen a Reese's cupcake, but I probably wouldn't like it if it was too sweet. Also, the only Kit Kat that I like is the dark chocolate ones (they aren't as sweet). They also make dark chocolate Raisinets, which I love. If you love Reese's I would suggest trying the holiday shapes (Christmas tree/Easter Egg) because the chocolate to peanut butter ratio seems to be better.

Yeah. Sugar and salt are limited bybthe law. So its the reason french ll find usa snack too sweet. Sugar give an addiction. I know a person who drank only soda when he is kids. Now he is fat then all his familly is thin. Worst he is unable to drink water. " that have no taste!" He said. So he add sirup in and drink soda alltime.

You guys are too cute! Your boyfriend's absolutely right I find that most sweets here have a ton of sugar in them. The little time I did spend in France I did notice what you said, everything is pretty much in its pure form the quality is very high! I still tell my friends that the best french fries I ever had in my life was in Strasbourg France because they used lard to fry them 😆

The best thing MacDonalds ever had on their menu was the original french fries which they fried in beef tallow. Once the food nazis came to be they had to change to some bland vegetable oil which made the fries no longer special.

Too bad you were not able to try the ultimate American snack, which is Krispy Kreme donuts.
But they must be FRESH or it's just not the same.
Here on the East coast of the U.S., the Krispy Kreme donuts shops have neon signs that will flash, "FRESH DONUTS NOW" when they come out of the oven.
If you can get them then, you would see that nothing else even comes close.

Hi Marie, 🍩 rember to those out there how popular pop-tarts we're back in the 80's. So hot they're cooool! Growing-up in Britain America's always been a cultural influence on everything. All these classic chocolate/sweet commercials :the milk tray man (James bond ref) and who could forget cadburys flake girls,Yorkie bar trucker and with it's western theme the milky bar kid.maybe you could do a follow-up video⬆️. A Maryland's cookie with a cappuccino is always a treat. Anyway I Love your content until next time Au revoir 😎🌼

We in the States could use a lot of help from the French when it comes to snacks! They tend to be too sweet and salty. We do have some good French restaurants in Portland, OR, and a very good French Bakery, St. Honore' Boulangerie.

If/when you get to the U.S., you really need to come to Maine. Try some "lobstah" (lobster), and steamed clams. Although, I'm sure everyone thinks you should come to THEIR state, and try THEIR regional favorites. Do you have any idea of where you'd be visiting in America?
You should search RUclips for "you got chocolate in my peanut butter". There are some vintage commercials about Reese's, and the marriage of chocolate and peanut butter.

In Canada it's "beurre d'arachides". But I do remember learning the word "cacahouettes" also means peanuts, way back in the late 70's when I was in kindergarten. I think it was a word in a song we learned but I don't know if the song was French or Quebecois. I have never seen or heard it used since... until today. They are both interesting words, but yours doesn't sound like spiders. 😁 Do you say "arachides" in France too?

Marie, many of your snack selections aren't typical of what people eat. The Reeses cupcake definitely is one of those that are not common. We also distinguish "snacks" from candy. The chocolate covered cranberries would count as a snack, as would the Raisinettes, but the others would be candy. I'm sure someone will send you a "goodie-box" of things like Doritos, Cheetos, Twinkies, etc. Bon Apetit!

I am American the problem with American Made Cakes and Candy is that they are all made in big factories .. That is why you get a good flavor and then you get a bad one at the same time.. I can tell a big difference of the Hershey things and they were much better a long time ago.. // Small American Candy Companies make the best .Yes I am well aware that Euro Candy is known to be much better ,like Swiss Chocolate and Reisen a German Candy ...I think the quantity of American Candy and Chocolate products changed alot after the 2000s..

The first question for making any snack food is, "What if we add chocolate?" I mean, we've got chocolate fountains so even if the product doesn't come with chocolate you can add chocolate if you want.
