    I love doing a nightly reset! When I was a little girl, my dear mother would always say, “Let’s straighten things up quickly so that it looks pretty when we get up in the morning”. It usually took no more than five minutes but I loved doing it with her and in the end, looking over everything and hearing her say, “Look how lovely everything looks for tomorrow!” and then happily going to bed. I think about that every night and repeat the same process on a daily basis

    Number 10 - at bedtime my mother always said it was time to "say goodnight to the house." - which meant walking through the house and picking up what needed picking up or put away., to fluff the cushions on the couch, to wash any dish that may have been used after dinner. I still say goodnight to my house before bedtime and I'll be 80 on my next birthday.

      Have a daily list; a weekly list by day, and a monthly list like cleaning the car or purse. No need to do all the kitchen cabinets in one day or the windows etc. Daily is a full load of laundry folded and put away, the dishes and counter, making the beds.
      Then add a task for the weekly in that day as per your schedule; for instance Monday Garbage because it’s picked up Tuesday, Tuesday is dusting, Wednesday is vacuuming and Thursday is washing floors. Catch up day is Friday. I think you know the schedule best. Eliminate Stuff it really helps to have less to maintain or take care of. For instance if you have to water a house full of plants then give some away and you’ve saved yourself a lot of time watering and repotting. You should at least try what she’s saying here also. Another trick is to pick the area you are in every time you leave a space. Leave wipes in every room to clean while you’re there. Create drawers with sections to see what you have and downsize the stuff

    • @lynnbaker8111
      @lynnbaker8111 Год назад +4

      You need to tell everyone they're responsible for taking care of their things and putting them away; then tell them that going forward if you have to pick it up it will be thrown away so you will never have to pick it up again. (You could institute the rule at first without actually throwing the item away, just let them think you did and when you give it back tell them the next time it really will be thrown out.)
      Also understand that things will settle to the person who needs the least...are there things I do in my house that others should do? Absolutely, but it matters more to me so I end up doing them, but not everything....closing doors can also help if you at least don't have to look at the mess. Good luck!

    Great video. I thoroughly enjoy my home . Over the last few years I’ve worked on developing habits . I have 4 that are second nature in the morning . My favorite cleaning habit is vacuuming .. I find it very satisfying .. I think because you can see the dirt as you empty the dust cup.. I usually vacuum 3 times a week and I’m constantly amazed at what I pick up.. I don’t mind cleaning the toilet at all. I do this about 4-5 days a week.. the reason I do is because it’s extremely easy to maintain. I throw in a few squirts of dish soap and baking soda and it’s sparkling .. the task I detest is cleaning the bathtub/shower.. grrr… I think because it’s so physically tiring ..

      My neighbor is an immaculate, professional cleaner. When I moved in he gave me a tip: squirt some of the liquid cleaner he gave me (great and doesn't smell, but I'll try your soap and soda). Let it wait 3-5 minutes. Then get use a heavy duty Scotchbrite (they're no longer abrasive) to lightly, easily wipe it away. I'm old so I take my socks off and do it from inside the tub, sometimes before or after a bath or shower. Sparkly clean! Not tiring anymore!

I’ve had a pretty positive relationship with housework my entire life, as my own mom tried to make it fun for us kids. We had responsibilities, but not too many - and were encouraged to take pride in our work. That being said, there are times when I grumble and don’t have a positive attitude about it! ❤️

    What has worked best for is something small. My policy is, as I go through my time when I am in the house, "Wipe down as you go." Whenever I am using an area, I quickly wipe it down when I am done or quickly rearrange whatever I messed up. My aim to leave the area as clean as when I got there. If i see something, I see something. Letting everything accumulate (oh, I'll clean on the weekends) was my downfall. Loved your video.

Sometimes if I'm too tired after hauling several kilos of clean laundry up 3 flights of stairs from the common laundry room. Then I rest a little (but not so long that I forget about the stuff) and while resting think about and look forward to SEEING how carefully and beautifully it was done; magically it's no longer such a drag when I get up from resting and do it right away. The well-done easy task becomes a reward... HOW ON EARTH did you do the blinds with gusto??? Please let me know! I've put it off for several years now!

    I just happened to see this video in my feed, and I’m so glad I watched it. There is tremendous wisdom in everything you said! I have very serious chronic health issues, so it isn’t possible for me to spend a day cleaning…so any time I am up, I am cleaning small areas. Like a kitchen cabinet with food on it. Very small jobs that when you add them together it is a lot!!
    I also established “no clutter zones” in our home, mainly horizontal spaces like the kitchen counters and table and the dining table. So everywhere else was livable space. I also changed my mindset. When I see an untidy area, instead of thinking, “what a mess,” I think, “LIFE is happening in our home!” And that is a good thing!!

    Thank you for your tips! I really like the one about rearranging furniture. I find that to be so true! It also gives new life to old spaces. Its amazing what a couch in a spot will do mentally :D I do have a tip. I have been able to shorten my time to get ready for work by doing ahead certain tasks that wouldve added a few extra minutes to rush time. Premake the coffee. Put it on a timer if you have one, or at least fill up the water & add your coffee grounds before hand. I also even pick out what I'm going to wear for the next few days! Socks, undergarments, tank tops, pants, work uniform. Whatever your outfit is, pick it out in advance so that you arent wasting so much time deciding what you're gonna wear. That was a big game changer! I keep my clothes in bins on the last shelf of my book case near the bed so it's just easy to pull from & I don't need traditional drawers that way. Anyway, those are my big 2 tips. I also rly like what you said about enjoying your space. It's easy to let it go but if you LIKE where you are in your environment, that's going to make you a happy person! Probably, anyway. Sorry for the long comment, I babble forever :D Thanks for sharing your content! New subscriber here!

      Yes, that will make the process more difficult for sure, but not impossible! The key to collecting is to set limits and then ‘curate’. Can you imagine if an art gallery accepted every single painting or sculpture that was brought to it? It would soon be over-run! Set a limit for yourself and then each time you want to bring in something new to you collection, judge it against the pieces you already have. ❤️
