I did get a 5W xtool due to finances but wanted to at least get my feet wet as they say.. it's been hard to find videos to say what a 5W is or isn't capable of doing.. glad I found your video very helpful.. hopefully I can find more like this video regarding the 5W 😊

I wonder how much air assist would have helped you.

air assist does help a great deal as I do have it now, but even with air assist it is unable to cut the thicker leathers quickly enough for it to be a production machine

I been debating between onr of these or a k40. Glad to know this would do what I need. Thanks

The K 40 is a powerful machine but unless you want to completely tear it apart and rebuild the gantry system you will not have a big enough work area for Leatherworking. You only get a 12 x 8“ work area. Whereas with the xtool the one you get A much larger work area without having to upgrade every component. You also have to upgrade your control board on a K 40 to make it work with Lightburn. After all your upgrades you’re looking at spending an extra $500 on top of what you’ve already spent for the K 40.

@@MichaelMaysLeatherworks I did use your link. Saved $32 and some change. I wanted to go ahead and get the rotary attachment too, but decided against it for the time being. Maybe I'll expand into the custom engraving business after I get going better with leatherwork.
