Thank you for reminding us that baking cookies are probably enjoyed more than dragging my family out for some seriously over priced events. Being a single Mom of 3, my brothers would always say go to this or that event and I'd look online and the pricing was ridiculous x4 people. Always felt guilty I couldn't afford them but thank you for reminding me they probably enjoy just as much staying home baking and sitting down to a old christmas movie. We like sound of music.
@@slbaker63 Aw thank you, Im pleased you enjoyed the video, its so easy to get carried away at Christmas & trying to keep up with what others are doing/showing on social media etc. My 7 year old loves being at home, playing, baking, watching Christmas films, reading Christmas stories, creating decorations etc xx
@@Emily_Sarahx Thanks Sarah, I hope you found some of it useful 😀 I’m going to try & film today if I can, it’s a bit chaotic, so the video will be realistic for sure! 😂
@leannejayne3545 Yes absolutely. I am teaching my children it about giving and not receiving at Christmas. We are doing the Dunelm delivering joy. I picked up 3 labels today and it's not just children but older people in their 80's which is heartbreaking but we will help in anyway we can afford to. That's the best way, I love your realism. I think people are in so much debt trying to keep up with The Jones as they say so thank you for just being you ☺️ xx
@@Emily_SarahxSarah, thank you so much for your kind comments, it really does a mean a lot x I love your ideas, I think we sometimes lose sight of what the festive period should really be about xx
getting into debt over xmas is one of the worst things you can do in our house we have stopped buying presents and give our son who is nearly 19 money and only send a few cards also dont go overboard on food as well :)
Hi Leanne, new subscriber here from Ireland. I'm loving catching up on all your videos. I love your honesty and how you show real life. People definitely get carried away with keeping up with the Jones. I have 4 siblings and they all have a lot more money than i do so I'm very grateful for people making online content about being frugal, minimal & appreciating everything you already have. I have 3 big teens so everything has gotten a lot more expensive, especially food ❤
@@janice-ann7157 Hi Janice, its so lovely to have you here! Absolutely! I used to be one of them; trying to keep up with the Jones! But I've learnt that I feel happier, more content & secure with some financial security behind us and spending time with my family and enjoying the simple pleasures ❤️
Hi just found your channel x i agree no debt is the way forward, we save all year into a separate account to cover birthdays and christmas, we keep it all totally separate, we buy all year round in sales and buy a christmas food item a week from october, i make a christmas planner (i am a crafter) and everything gets put in there, budget, food, menu, gifts, card list etc x it works really well for us and we have no financial worries because of christmas x we save our nectar points all year to cover the food shop and i handmake some gifts too x we also do a food bank shop every chrustmas with dome of our budget to help other's out, no one should struggle or go without at christmas x
Hello Leanne, Artificial Maple flavour is done with Fenugreek Seeds. Give it a light toasting in a dry pan until fragrant, combine with any sweet syrup you may have about (Golden syrup would be good). One year for an inexpensive decoration we collected some fallen branches....not very large. and painted them metallic red one year (with gold tree ornaments) and metallic silver the next (metallic blue). clean up was easy, put away your ornaments and toss the branch in the trash. A huge money saver is something I've already seen you do. We buy xmas presents throughout the year when there are good sales. To lower the stress of and increase variety. All through the year whenever I make a Biscuit (US cookie) dough I make extra and form the cookies bake what I want and freeze the rest on trays and when frozen bag them up (don't forget to label, name date and baking instructions) when xmas rolls around I bake them up and have a plentiful wide variety. Another thing I've seen people do is not to have all the events on xmas week. Scatter events. we use the general period from The Virgin of Guadalupe 12th December to 3 Kings' Day 6th January. Hi Jacques! I’m absolutely loving all your tips & ideas, thank you! Great tip about the Maple syrup, I only bought maple flavoured as regular maple syrup is so expensive! So I’ll be sure to try your tip, we have some fenugreek seeds 👍🏻 Great idea on foraging fallen branches, I have done this in the past, so a fantastic reminder! Loving all your ideas x
@@leannejayne3545 Glad to be of help. I'm a perpetual label reader (companies have to list the ingredients in volume order). Julia Child taught me (books ,tv) to brighten up any canned food with some personal touches. Just roast the non spicey elements and combine. Jacques the verbose
Great ideas Leanne. If you or your subscribers have a farmfoods near and don't mind a frozen turkey. They have large turkeys half price £7.99 at the moment. Mine is bought and in the freezer. You are right never worth it. It's about being together. Goodluck with packing and the move.
What are your tips for saving money at Christmas? 🎄

Here in Mexico after any holiday the 'left overs' are usually sold cheaply...We buy up what we like and put it away for next year.
