    • Todd Treaster's N Scal...
    In this episode of Big G's RR, we visit a layout in Pennsylvania. I was able to attend the N Scale Railroad convention in Altoona, PA, on 09/17/2022 and 09/18/2022. While attending I ran into the owner of this wonderful layout and collection. I was invited to an open house later that evening. While there, I was able to get some quality time to interview and get a tour of his layout and collection. Sit back and relax as I take you on a tour of this Special Layout Todd Treaster's house. If you are new to the channel, I encourage you to hit the Like button, and the Subscribe button. Doing so helps me to continue videos like this one. Thank you for your support of this channel. Stay safe out there.

    I bet a lot of people go for Todd's model railroad or his encyclopedic knowledge of the history of N scale products, but I'm betting just hanging around talking with Todd is the highlight of a visit. You can just tell what a really great guy he is.

      He is very pleasant to to be around and talk with. I enjoyed the entire visit, and I was there for quite some time getting all the footage for this video. He is such a gracious host, and had a wealth of knowledge about a lot of different subjects. Thanks for the comment and stay safe out there.

    i was there when you were making the video it was great meeting you and talking with you also. i have to say todd is more to the hobby than just a great collector or modeler. he has been my friend since we were young like almost 40 yrs and all i ever wanted was to model like him and like 7 yrs ago i started after my oldest son moved out and its been a trip ever since. he has guided me and taught me so much that some say my layout at home is a lot smaller version of his and i say yes i guess you could say that because look who mentored me. his layouts have always amazed me and his quality of workmanship on his layout is unmatched. his knowlege of the n scale world is unmatched in my eyes and i hope he dose what he says he is thinking on doing some day is write his book on the hobby. so for everyone that has seen this please i will let you all know there is not another person that i know that loves trains more that todd. he is my bud my mentor and my friend. glad you all were there to see it and glad you made this video to show case him. thanks for sharing.

    Thank you for your return comments! One thing I want to clear up is I meant absolutely no disrespect when I said the state should pass a law to make this a museum!! Lol!! What he created is real nobody's business on his plan for the future! What I was trying to convey is higher powers that be should help him preserve this amazing collection in the far off future if he chooses to preserve it himself! I hope Todd takes a step back from time to time and really take it in what he has accomplished here!! It truly is a wonderment!! I certainly hope it is preserved for generations! Again thank you for your response!! Great job on this video!! Keep them coming! It truly is an amazing hobby that brings families and friends together!! Thanks again!!

    I am totally blown away by how much N scale this man has. He must be filthy rich. I say this because, he must have thousands of freight cars alone in display cases, let alone the passenger cars, locomotives, and all that is on the layout and the layout itself. I could never in my lifetime have a collection that huge on regular pay. I am impressed. He has all eras mixed together from at least the 60s until now. Very impressive

      It is a very impressive collection. I know it would take weeks to put a value to his collection. I was blown away by what he had, not to mention the things that are not on display too. Thanks for the comment and stay safe out there.

    • @LyonsArcade
      @LyonsArcade Год назад

      He said near the end he has 27,000 cars... that's counting freight passenger and locomotives, if you figure 35 bucks average for each that puts it at 1 million dollars worth of just cars, and that number may be way off as I'd imagine since probably half of his collection is early stuff they're worth quite a bit more than that average, although the newer stuff wouldn't be worth as much. At LEAST 1 million in cars though.

Who can't be happy for a rich guy with nothing better to do than to spend his hard earned money on his hobby and still have enough left over to keep a house and a wife. Simply amazing. But, having been there twice in the past, I can honestly say that his layout and collection are the most amazing thing I've ever seen. I remember that during my first visit, I was struck speechless. Great video of a great N scale layout that Todd Treaster has built over the years. I watch as many N scale model railroad videos since I’m an N scale model railroader that is in the early stages of building my permanent layout. I will be expanding it in the future to 6 feet wide by 12 feet long & will go with inclines of a 1.25% grade from the current layout which will be my staging yard, diesel fuel tank storage facility, diesel locomotive shop and the upper level will have double track action with trains running in each direction.

    This is really fabulous. I have one ignorant question every time I see one of these extraordiary modelling accomplishments: Despite Todd's remarks about how he has installed the best kind of air conditioning possible, still: Dust is a fact of life. Especially after eighteen years. So how do modelers keep all those very delicate little constructions clean? Is is cans of compressed air? Or some kind of teeny tiny little low--power vaccuum?

    Incredible layout! The video was pretty good on covering the layout and the builder's description of things however the elevator music audio overlay that I believe was added in the editing process made it at times to hear Todd talking. It could be how sounds are processed in my phone or maybe other viewers share the same opinion but trying to adjust my volume and sound settings so that I could hear him speaking clearly without the horrifically disturbingly monotonous piano trac musical overlay becoming completely overwhelming and sadly making the video nearly unwatchable without being muted and since a large part was Todd talking without out too much to see without being able to hear him. Like I said it could very easily be a problem that only a few viewers experienced because of how audio is processed through whatever device they personally use to watch media if however many hold the same opinion as me I would love to watch this again without the piano trac overlay so I could here Todd clearly without being so annoyed by the music blasting
