  • In today's video I demonstrate how to use the LANTIRN pod in the F-14 both as a RIO in the back seat and with Jester.

Just found your vids. Outstanding! Been using your F-14 vids to learn the airframe. I used to work on the LANTIRN pod, fun to use it as a pixel pilot.

    Good overview and introduction.
There is one particular useful feature, the direct head movement control option, for Jester. This one is perfect to track map objects, like bridges and buildings, or designate a point in the middle of a target group, from the front seat.
IIRC you can command Jester to search for targets and select types, also, similar to how George AI does in the AH-64D Longbow.
This is a key feature in Multiplayer, where you can't switch to the backseat.

Thanks! You're right the search targets feature is very useful. I'm going to demo it in the next video when I show how to use LGBs with the LANTIRN.

The TID wasn’t used with the lantirn it was paired with the PTID that featured a 12x12 display and had better resolution than anything in the sky at the time

am i right in thinking this never actually existed with this version if the TID? and LANTIRN actually required a PTID equipped aircraft? is that right?

My understanding is that the standard TID aircraft could be fitted with LANTIRN and were. The only change with PTID was you got a clearer picture.

      @@deephack ahk interesting.
have to thank you again. these are top quality tutorials sir.
one thing I'd be interested in hearing during your control overview would be which controls are used most frequently and would benefit from a quick dedicated binding on a HOTAS or keypad or whatever. I realize this might be subjective but your opinion would be valuable regardless.
