My biggest advice is to stay the fuck away from the fanbase. Fromsoft has made some of my absolute favorite games of all time but damn is the community insufferable. It feels like everyone is immediately at each other's throats at even the slightest difference of opinion. Just play the games, overcome the challenge, and have fun.

Those people you're talking about are almost all just children being children. Any place online where people gather and talk will have kids acting a fool, or grown adults doing the same. What's more annoying than what you're describing is grown adults whining about it. Idk where the community gathers so maybe I'm missing something lol but I've only ever had positive experiences talking with other ppl who love these games. When someone acts dumb I just ignore them and give my time to the good ones, I recommend others do the same. Don't waste your time complaining about the ppl who suck b/c complaints won't change them, just be picky who u talk to or support. Just my 2 cents

What? Aha I’ve had the most positive experience getting into the series, I started with Elden ring started joining souls groups on Reddit and asking for tips and people just started dropping souls, weapons, rings, etc. especially when asking for help on a boss if they see I’m rocking a shit weapon they’ll just drop whatever to help out when I bring up my builds or favourite strats people don’t hassle me for being “wrong” or “dumb” for levelling the wrong stats or using different starts. Idk what your experience has been but I’d say it leans towards more positive than negative

    how I played them was:
    1.Elden Ring
    2.Dark souls 1: remastered
    3.Dark souls 3
    4.Dark souls 2: SotFS
    5.Sekiro
Sadly, I don't have a play station so I'm limited to this, but if someone comes from an Ubisoft game, and has no experience with older rpg's or Jrpg's then this is probably the order I would recommend to someone, except that after ds3 you can probably play anything else in no specific order since you should be experienced enough to tackle any other souls game.
But also, if someone doesn't mind a bit of pain, ds1:r or Demon souls first would probably give a more authentic experience. Ds2 imo, deserves to be played, but you will have more fun with the game if you are more experienced with souls games, as the game punishes you for losing by lowering your max hp, and losing lifegems, as well as having the worst boss runs on the entire fromsoft catalogue. so being good enough to where you can beat the bosses in at most 5 tries is honestly much more enjoyable.
I did try getting into ds2 after finishing 1, got annoyed, and then left it for later, and after ds3, I was genuinely enjoying the game much more.
Also I can also see why you could start with ds3, it does have the best combat of the series, but for me personally, sekiro and Elden ring still had better combat.

Been at it since Demons Souls at ps3, having played all versions.
Start in the middle, this way you're able to go forward and backwards.
If you love what dark souls does, play Demons Souls, Dark Souls 1, Dark Souls 3. This is what the genre is conceptually. Throw in the Demons Souls remake just because it's easier to access it and probably is considered less of a sore eye. The music in the original is leaps and bounds better.
If you love ER play ER & Dark Souls 2, this is what marketing says the genre is. Which is what most people agree with & which is what sells the game initially.
If you love DKS3, play Bloodborne & Sekiro, imo this is miyazaki at his finest both of these are just stretching the mechanics and quality to the most polished state ever.

    My personal opinion:
If you want to go in blind, I would suggest Elden Ring, DS3 or Sekiro first, sue to how clean the mechanics are and how simple the story is. Among these if you are not a seasoned gamer, I would suggest ER 1st, since it has great accessibility, anf the diffixulty is incredibly variable based on playstyle. Summoning can ease out thr boss fight challenge significantly.
If you can persevere, Sekiro is an easier game to go through, since you cant make a build making error, like in ER.
I would suggest against DS3 1st, since a lot of major locations lose the punch without DS1 context.
If you are OK with using guides, I would go for DeS/DS1. To see how Fromsoft evolved organically. Then proceed in order.

Why do people talk shit about DS2?
Here are some pros that *only* DS2 has:
    1. Bonfire Ascetic, 2. World Wide death counter (i think Demons Souls has that too),
    3. ACTUAL dual wielding power stance, not that bullsh* from ER,
3.2 and you can mix them up, like i.e. a Katana and a Dagger,
    4. best NG+, 5. Blue Flame,
    6. Enemy Extinction, 7. Majula.
    8. Best achievement, ''This is Dark Souls''
    9. POOL of Blood!
And for some: 10. Company of Champions, aka Hard Mode.
    Cons:
    1. Drinking the Estus makes you stand still,
    2. People who complaing about DS2 are the same who complain about the ER DLC being too hard lol

I think it’s a good game js not better than the rest and it’s better to start with the others. I mentioned the bonfire ascetic, majula, not powerstancing because of Elden ring, the achievement and pool of blood do not really help out the game for playing it it’s just a nice little addition. The hard mood is good to have. But you didn’t mention the invincibility frames when going into a fog wall don’t start until half way through the animation and with the amount of enemy spam in scholar it makes it difficult to even get into a boss. The boss run backs usually have tons of enemy spam blocking your path. And if you keep dying your health goes lower and lower which is so punishing to new players. I think starting with Dark Souls 1 and going in blind is the most enjoyable way to start the series. Also it teaches the basic mechanics that the rest of the games build off of, so it's the most natural way to start off, even more so than demon souls imo. But elden ring is def the easiest to begin with since there's so many options for builds and silly OP spells and weapons. However I think if someone plays thru elden ring, it'll be more difficult for them to have the kind of amazing experience with DS1 that so many of us have shared. So I strongly recommend starting with #1 for any reading this

I agree completely I just didn’t want people to expect too much from the other games after Elden ring yk?

I will say this absolute truth...DEX over sex!! Put all your points in dex then enjoy...whats that? You are getting 1 hit? Thats easy! Just dont get hit bro😂 no, seriously, unequip all armor and use your uchikatana to drop them corpses.
No, for real. The souls franchise is all about finding your own style, and your favorite weapons. Finally, if you are having issues with a boss just remember that PATTERN RECOGNITION is a thing LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE HUMAN develops age 10/12 so just stop cavemen thinking, look at the boss patterns and counter. Rinse and repeat for the win

Dark souls 1, Dark souls 3, Bloodborne, and then Elden ring would be a pretty smooth transition.

I would suggest going from easiest to hardest, to ease the transition, and mastery of combat, rather than by game release date. Fortunately souls game aren't sequential in story. Begin with Elden Ring as the easiest, then whatever, finalizing with DS1 and then ofc, Sekiro.
OR, start with Sekiro with a bang. Master it, all other Fromsoft titles are a walk in the park. Bcs Sekiro level up YOU as the player.
