    1. DU-Good competitive schedule, championships, have been a team to beat especially in recent years but always pretty solid.
    2. UND-Good competitive schedule, championships, top of the line facilities, very competitive but can hit and miss at times.
    3. U Minn- Has the name, always competitive, has championships but has come short plenty of times.
    4. BC-Schedule is good, 4 of 5 championships have been from 2001 and up so they have been dominant in recent history.
    5. UMD-Good competitive schedule, nice facilities, has won all 3 championships since 2011 so has been very dominant within recent years.
If I where in the position of being able to choose on what college hockey team I play for these would be them.

In no particular order: BU, BC, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Denver. Everyone else need not apply.
As for some of the other schools people have mentioned… can’t go with Duluth. Small school that’s had some success recently, but is now horrible. Currently 8th in a 9 team division and 4 games under .500 with a handful of blowout losses. With NIL payments to players becoming a big thing, they’re going to struggle to keep up with bigger schools, particularly their in-state rival.
Wisconsin has historical success, but has like 2 winning seasons in their last 10. Attendances are waaaay down from what they were in their hay day, bottoming out a couple years ago where there were often just 2-3k fans in their 20k arena. Fired their incompetent coach and replaced him with another incompetent coach who proceeded to alienate all the NHL draft picks on the roster who immediately transferred. One of those picks went from being a healthy scratch at Wisconsin to being the #1 center on the #1 team in the country. Agents are advising their clients that if they want a future in the NHL to avoid Wisconsin, and NHL GM’s are advising their drafted players to transfer out because of how they’re (not) being developed. Until they can their coach, Wisconsin has no business being anywhere near this list.

I don’t understand the omission of DU in these lists. Tied for most championships, almost guaranteed to make the tournament, great schedule, beautiful campus, beautiful state and weather in general… I guess I get proximity to Canada and New England hockey culture but placing A. State here has me scratching my head… Not to mention Michigan hasn’t been to a final since 2011 and hasn’t won since ‘98. DU has 3 in the past 10yrs

The atmosphere due to the size and layout of the rink and atmosphere that the student section gives should put Maine in top 5.
