Michigan State has some great facilities, with up and coming stars like Isaac Howard and Trey Augustine. Their coaching staff has revitalized the program, which was a powerhouse in the 80s.
1. DU-Good competitive schedule, championships, have been a team to beat especially in recent years but always pretty solid. 2. UND-Good competitive schedule, championships, top of the line facilities, very competitive but can hit and miss at times. 3. U Minn- Has the name, always competitive, has championships but has come short plenty of times. 4. BC-Schedule is good, 4 of 5 championships have been from 2001 and up so they have been dominant in recent history. 5. UMD-Good competitive schedule, nice facilities, has won all 3 championships since 2011 so has been very dominant within recent years. If I where in the position of being able to choose on what college hockey team I play for these would be them.
My hometown ..the only sports team I really have a connection to .. Their coach Scott sandelin is a legend to me ..we suck this year tho but it's my dream to have my kids play for that team someday

Our dentist had a son (1st round MLB draft pick) that was being recruited by Michigan for baseball. During his recruitment M told him they could get him tix for any M event except hockey. Toughest ticket to get in A2.

My brother plays for Wisconsin and their set up is so sick. I agree with all your picks but I think Wisconsin is a better place than ASU. A lot of guys who don’t get playing time at Wisconsin transfer to ASU though.

The Gophers almost exclusively recruit the best players because they come from their own states high school program. Which is where North Dakota has to dip into to stay relevent. You can go to "#1 Michigan" all you want but the Gophers are going to beat you like they did last night 6-0.
Thanks for putting mine in number 2😂 I went to one of the terriers game kinda lost 5-0 to Umass at agannis arena but I want to play there. I mean Zegras, eichel, a lot more too! They have a jersey wall and a ton of snacks.
In no particular order: BU, BC, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Denver. Everyone else need not apply. As for some of the other schools people have mentioned… can’t go with Duluth. Small school that’s had some success recently, but is now horrible. Currently 8th in a 9 team division and 4 games under .500 with a handful of blowout losses. With NIL payments to players becoming a big thing, they’re going to struggle to keep up with bigger schools, particularly their in-state rival. Wisconsin has historical success, but has like 2 winning seasons in their last 10. Attendances are waaaay down from what they were in their hay day, bottoming out a couple years ago where there were often just 2-3k fans in their 20k arena. Fired their incompetent coach and replaced him with another incompetent coach who proceeded to alienate all the NHL draft picks on the roster who immediately transferred. One of those picks went from being a healthy scratch at Wisconsin to being the #1 center on the #1 team in the country. Agents are advising their clients that if they want a future in the NHL to avoid Wisconsin, and NHL GM’s are advising their drafted players to transfer out because of how they’re (not) being developed. Until they can their coach, Wisconsin has no business being anywhere near this list.
University of Denver’s had some dark horses and young guns too like Danton Heinen, Troy Terry, and Paul Stastny. As well as incredible talents behind the bench like Jim Montgomery
If I were a guy I would definitely want to play for Michigan, but as a girl I legitimately don’t know what colleges have women’s programs(I know a few, but idk if some colleges with huge guys teams even have a women’s club team)
NoDak does not have a women's club team but I was able to find friendly guys that accepted a newer female hockey player to play intramural. They even have a men's club team but not many females play hockey in college for fun.
The Minnesota women's team has their own arena and it's incredible, considering it was built for women's hockey. Makes zero sense considering it looks like there's 200 people at their games when you see highlights, but those gals have a nice place to call home.
I'll have to agree with most of these, especially #1. However, i would take out Minnesota and North Dakota. I'd go with University of Alaska, Fairbanks. My home town, and home ice is on an Olympic size rink. Not sure if many other colleges do that. It's quite different to play on. I guess that leaves one more for me, so another Michigan school

Annual Bean Pot tourny with cross town rivals in BU, BC, & Northeast, along with other local rivals such as Lowell, Merrimack, Holy Cross, Amherst, etc. Minnesota has great rivalries but none are cross town. Univ of St Thomas in St Paul only recently turned Div One and it will be a while before it reaches the same level as these hockey giants.
I don’t understand the omission of DU in these lists. Tied for most championships, almost guaranteed to make the tournament, great schedule, beautiful campus, beautiful state and weather in general… I guess I get proximity to Canada and New England hockey culture but placing A. State here has me scratching my head… Not to mention Michigan hasn’t been to a final since 2011 and hasn’t won since ‘98. DU has 3 in the past 10yrs

As someone who grew up in Boston and went to a lot of college hockey games BU but not BC is crazy.
