    One thing I will say is, thank you for supporting beauty counter advisors and not purchasing most if not all of these online! Thank you for saying this. It’s a great reminder. I get so intimidated to ask for help. I feel like I’m expected to buy something and I feel pressure if I decide I don’t like something. Like I wasted the beauty advisors time. And when I go to Neiman’s to spoil myself with a purchase, I’m afraid they can tell that I don’t have a lot of money and will only be buying one or two things. But when I do get help, everyone is always really nice. It’s just my own anxiety.

    Sisley concealer is my holy grail! It does oxidize on me as well, but every single concealer I tried does it on me. However it 'conceals' wrinkles under my eyes, not just discoloration. It holds amazingly the whole day - you literally cannot see it on the skin - it blends in and becomes the skin.
    On another note, the concealer has 15 ml.of product. I've been using mine for 1.5 years, and I still have a full tube. It is definitely worth it.

    The La Prairie foundation is worth every penny. Ive had mine for so long and it has barely created even a dip as you use so little and its so beautiful. They also have the cushion version of this foundation which is just as gorgeous and it is more affordable price wise as you do get a bonus extra cushion inside the box. Also I have the Sisley primer. That is way more expensive than the the La Mer and its a fabulous, firming. smoothing primer that enhances any make up that is applied over it.

    I can't agree with the underlying assumption that price should equal "impact". I think a lot of the luxurious make up is about achieving natural, effortless/elegant effect on the skin (in person) which I personally am there for. Very interesting video - thank you!

    • @pearinsomnia9188
      @pearinsomnia9188 3 месяца назад +17

      @@ievappp yep, exactly! Luxury cosmetics make it easier to get a completely natural finish-my Sisley skin tint has great coverage but even under a *magnifying mirror* you can’t tell I’m wearing anything. It’s like an irl filter I can rub in with my fingers. I’m paying the exorbitant price for the invisible perfecting, ease of use, and mildness on the skin. I’ve gone cheaper-Chanel’s water fresh tint, a variety of drugstore options-but nothing else even comes close.
      Is it a great pick for someone with acne or rosacea who wants really high coverage? No, but that’s not the purpose of a tint anyways! People who want impact don’t realize the tradeoff is ease of use, and luxury makeup is generally made to melt into your skin even if you have no makeup skills and are using your fingers for application.

I think those are things being ignored in this video, which I understand, this is only a first impressions-fun-entertaining kind of video, but I would love some follow ups. Also, how would these products work better for more mature skin, since at the end of the day older women are more inclined to use these brands. For example, I have the Sisley blush/highlighter that Nikki didn’t like, I think it is gorgeous!! Subtle and blurring and amazing! It had no chance being applied on top of two very “high impact” highlighters. She should try it as a first step, and consider how it would work for older skin, again, it’s beautiful!

    Nikki, A long time ago I ran the LaPrarie counter in Saks Fifth Avenue, at that time it was only skin. Everyday I had to beat the figures from the year prior. It was without a doubt the most stressful job I ever had and I thank god it was only 4 hours per day, and I got burned out quickly, so I left after a few years. The competition was fierce with the other cosmetic counters, especially Chanel. You look beautiful! There is a story that goes behind the scenes of the original caviar.

    I had the foundation, splurged on it for my wedding day, as I did my own makeup. It was nice, but never got any use out of the concealer, too cakey. It is very similar to Lisa Eldridge's Seamless Skin Foundation, which is better imho and costs much less. Very similar formula. Btw, Sisley is pronounced like Sis'ly, not Sisely (there is no e before the l, and so not like Sicily).

    I found this to be so much more interesting than a drugstore haul. Sick to death of those. I love seeing the beautiful packaging and whether the product meets that expectation. Agreed!!!! I also wish influencers, content creators, MUA - whichever title they prefer, would not get such negative feedback from people when they upload a video with luxury priced goodies - no person on any of these various platforms knows the household finances of the thousands of people who watch their videos - people of all budgets and walks of life watch online content - I appreciate the ones who still feature products from brands I’m inclined to spend money on.
