You've been busy painting more than just point frogs! I think as these come from Dapol they have some odd-looking colours on them - various bits look quite pink-ish, which isn't what I have in mind as what teak coaches should look like from what I've seen of them on TV. The end result you've got looks much closer to that photo you showed from the SVR. Presumably the ones on the SVR aren't actually dirty? They seem to be showing that Dapol haven't got the colours right. The disassembly you show will be useful for anyone like you who was searching for instructions on how to take these apart 🙂
That's made a lot of difference Nat. Dapol coaches do take a bit of getting apart, but much easier to do than Farish ones in my experience. Good to see them running around the layout. Stephen
They look really good! Glad I was of some inspiration 🤣 funnily enough I was weathering some mk1s last night. I've got a few Dapol teaks on the way soon I'll have to have a shot at them too
Good morning Nat! Thanks for showing us how to take the coaches apart! That will definitely come in handy at some point, I'm sure! The coaches do look a lot better with some of their shine taken away! Just one question... Did you seal them with anything? Cheers, Ian.
Morning Ian Glad you found it useful I didn’t seal them with anything but I was considering a satin varnish to try and replicate the look of the real coaches. Thanks for watching Nat 🚂👍
