Always fun to do these comparisons, also nice to be whistling again. If any of you have ideas of vids you would like me to make, let me know at philhardy@live.,com
Thank you for the video. I'm a beginner, and trying to learn more before I invest in a better whistle. I do like soft and sweet, so I appreciate knowing the Cobre may be for me.
Recently received my Chieftan V5 tunable Low D. Chuffed to bits with it. Was practicing for ages on a Dixon polymer-type job, and the Chieftan just has so much character and volume. Takes more air on the higher notes, but that was expected. I will probably have to come back for the smaller whistles as well. Both of those sound lovely.
Just bought the busker today and I was torn between these two. So I really appreciate this video. Follow up: This thing blew away my wildest expectations. This whistle is a game changer. You should need a security clearance to handle the busker. It has more power volume and bottom end than a flute. This is not your average whistle. Wow! 2nd follow up. I went ahead and bought the cobre as well. I like them both. Cobre is for medium loud sessions. Busker is when I have an accordion sitting to my right and a highland piper sitting to my left. I pull back a little so the highland piper can still be heard.
@@romanmanko6473 I don’t know but a regular straight bore whistle fits loosely inside the busker. It’s probably 1/3 larger diameter than a regular straight bore whistle.
The busker is well made-it’s a BAZOOKA of a whistle! At 16mm inner bore diameter, I think it’s the biggest diameter high D whistle. The low octave is super easy. The high octave, once you get to high A especially, requires a lot of volume. Not for the faint-hearted. I would not recommend this model to a newcomer, but instead to someone who is confident enough to really belt it out
I have emailed about the Busker Custom High D and wondered which days you count as working days so I know when to expect a reply. Thank you so much for making these awesome whistles!
I am surprised how these high Ds are chirpy but not screechy as heck. Kinda reminds me of how the thinner reeds would produce less solid sounds than the thicker reed with my clarinet.
Is possible to find a Cobre Optima high D whistle, with all the head interely ade of Copper, with the tunable model? I mean, whi is just the body of the instrument made of Copper?
Phil, idk if I got a faulty Cobre but mine sounds SO buzzy!😩 I’ve cleaned it and cleared it so much but another thing is the head is SO hard to get off!! It’s almost like it’s too small for the bore. It cut into the copper when I tried to put it back on💔
@@philhardywhistles let’s say that I’ve just cleaned it with those products you mentioned. How many days, weeks or months would it take for it to turn green or another colour again?
@@Emanuel-hd2lk It all depends on how sweaty your hands are. The more sweaty they are the faster the copper will patina. If you want a shiny whistle then polish it when every you like.
I have the cobre set. They are awesome and the Eb is my favourite of all my whistles. When you order the set of 3, it is actually a great deal for 3 high end whistles.

Brilliant, cheers! Got a Shaw so I have a breathy one, now tugging Hobgoblin's sleeve to post a Busker to Spain.
Very helpful information. Thank you.
its helpful! - waiting for more comparisons - high C's and maybe V5 and custom low D
I love both of mine. Busker is my favourite as I'm a low whistle player too

I'm actually planning on doing the same thing... From Dixon to Chieftain. You might have convinced me to do it.

Hello, what is the outer and inner diameter of the tube

Honestly, if you came to my local session and insisted on playing the "Busker" soprano D ... you wouldn't find much of a welcome.
@@andrewwigglesworth3030 That may be true but no one would hear your complaint.

Hi, I have had no emails from you. Please email philhardy@live.com. I have one Custom left.

Well it's the Busker for me if I ever buy from Kerrywhistle
A bigger bore? Like employee meetings?
What exact model of Cobre flute you are using? It sounds lovely. ;)
Great flutes, great places and moods.
May I ask what microphone you use for these videos?
Just the mic on the camera.
I am surprised how these high Ds are chirpy but not screechy as heck. Kinda reminds me of how the thinner reeds would produce less solid sounds than the thicker reed with my clarinet.
What whistle is that. It sounds great?
What tunes were you playing here?
I'd like to get into learning the whistle. Any first whistle recommendations? Thinking of starting with the Alto F/G and a high D
For ease of playing , Cobre D and Busker G.
What’s the tune that plays at the every end of the video? It’s lovely!
Happy Place Ross Ainsley.
Hello, I'm new to these whistles... What do you mean when you say "tuneable"? Does this mean that the whistles can change keys?
No, it means pitch adjustment.
What's the difference between the old Thunderbird High D and the newer Busker?
Shorter wind way and fatter sound. More tone.
Is possible to find a Cobre Optima high D whistle, with all the head interely ade of Copper, with the tunable model? I mean, whi is just the body of the instrument made of Copper?
No all Copper sorry.
I have a non tuneable thunderbird high d. Is there much difference between the Busker high d?
The Busker is an improved T'Bird. Easier to play and louder.
Nice video what was the tune you played on the second whistle.
Happy Day by Ross Ainsley.
i just came here to ask that question. thanks,@@philhardywhistles !

I just received mine and It's already green. Can I fix that in some way?
Brasso, and a small pot of elbow grease. Oh and a polishing rag.
@@philhardywhistles Will that stop it from being green completely or just temporarily?
@@Emanuel-hd2lk you will need to clean it now and again or leave the patina as i do.
