From the perspective of the writers, I think it's a simple matter of the infinity gauntlet needing some weaknesses for it to believeable that the heroes have any chance at winning. If Thanos can just put it on and instantly pull some huge reality-altering feats, how can you contrive a way for the Avengers to fight him?
In the original Infinity Gauntlet comic story, all the Earth based heroes were basically just extras, there to drive home how strong Thanos was by getting worfed by him, while the actual stars were cosmic characters like Adam Warlock and Silver Surfer. The movie version couldn't do that, since besides them not having introduced that many cosmic characters yet (and most of the ones they had were villains, who died at the end of their respective movies), Infinity War and Endgame were suppose to serve as the final swan song for the original Avengers, which you can't really do by putting them to the side-lines.
If you must have some in-universe reason, remember that the gauntlet was forged by Eitri, who was forced into doing so after Thanos killed his people. It makes sense he would leave in some flaws like "you can't access the full power of the stones, unless you make a specific hand-movement first".

I agree. If the gauntlet didn't have the weaknesses and the stones didn't have the drawbacks they did have, it would be kind of hard to believe anyone could take him, especially anyone who isn't in Warlock or Surfer's weight class. Not to mention, they only reason he lost in the comics is because he became so powerful his essence left his body, which was still wearing the gauntlet, leaving it vulnerable to take.

They never said that you have to snap your fingers. It is stupid though that they made it out like they couldn't bring back Natasha and Gamora. Why not? Anyone wielding all of the Infinity Stones(AKA the Infinity Gems) is literally a god. They could do anything! That whole stupid "a soul for a soul" thing was made up for the MCU franchise. It's not a thing in the comics. Also, why didn't Bruce resurrect the Vision(AKA JARVIS) with his snap?
It was also really stupid that they changed Thanos's motivation for using the Stones to wipe out half of all lifeforms in the universe. His motivation from the comics was even hinted at at the end of 'The Avengers' with the Other's line "To challenge them is to court death!", to which Thanos smiles in response, so, it was clearly the intention at that point that Thanos's motivation was to get Death(AKA the Grim Reaper) to fall in love with him, so, why did they change their minds about Thanos's motivation later on?! It's such a stupid change! Thanos's motivation in the comics makes more sense as a motivation for Thanos when you think about it, because with the MCU version of him, it makes you wonder how he and the other characters are so stupid that it doesn't occur to them that using the Infinity Stones to double the resources, instead of wiping out half of all beings in the universe would make way more sense!
Also, why didn't Tony just remotely control the Hulkbuster Armor and use it to bring everybody back with the Infinity Stones? Hell, why didn't Tony just make it part of his "wish" that him using the Infinity Stones wouldn't result in him dying?! And, why didn't he also have it be part of his "wish" that the Infinity Stones would go back to where & when they were taken from? There are so many problems with the writing of 'The Avengers 4: Endgame' that it astounds me that it didn't get critically panned by everybody! One of the other major issues with the movie is that the time travel rules make no logical sense!

It's different from the comics, but in the context of the movie it makes enough sense to me (as much as magic space rock can make sense) that you can't use the stones to nullify the cost of using them.
And your idea of using HulkBuster doesn't really make sense, since we have no reason to think that the HulkBuster armor was nearby enough, considering that Tony clearly had to make the self-sacrifice choice in the heat of the moment seconds before Thanos got the stones. We don't even have any reason to believe that something like that could work, since so far using the infinity stones has required you to either hold them directly or the object they have been placed on.

The problem with that double resources argument is that it presumes Thanos operates on logic. Sure he's not trying to earn Death's love, but balancing the universe by wiping out half of its inhabitants is still insane. That's why no one challenges his philosophy. They challenge him. Also, his reasons still aren't that altruistic. He's trying to prove his method works and if the people of Titan listened to him, the planet wouldn't be dead. And while I kind of agree about changing his motivation, it might have been necessary to sell him to non comic readers and prevent him from appearing too outlandish.

@@parkerboy795 I think a ton of people also take Thanos' word in Infinity War too much at face value and fail to reflect back on his speech on Titan, after seeing how he reacted to the heroes trying to reverse his actions in Endgame. Thanos might say that he wants to save the universe, maybe he has even convinced himself of that, but in reality, he just wants to satisfy his ego and prove to everyone that Titan would have been saved, if only they had followed his plan.

@@parkerboy795 How would it be too outlandish when we've got a superhero team that includes the Norse god of thunder and a team of intergalactic adventurers that includes a walking, talking tree and an anthropomorphic talking raccoon among it's ranks?

@@SpedeVesku 🤦‍♂️ He had plenty of time to summon the Hulkbuster Armor and we've seen that his armors can fly to him pretty quickly, and I'm saying that he could have put the Infinity Stones on one of the hands of the Hulkbuster Armor in the same manner that he did with the nanotech armor that he was wearing in the movie. Presumably, at this point, he was using a nanotech Hulkbuster Armor, so, he could have done it.
