    There are many aspects of the offside rule that I don't like, but I have no problem with where the line is drawn. It is clear. It is black and white. I think there will be more controversies if we change the rule so that the referee can decide whether the attacking player gains an advantage from an offside position.

      The problem is not the players this time. If you followed the past nine months since Spalletti took over, we’ve been changing formations and players at every game without a vision of any kind. • @oldskoolmusicnostalgia

    The blocking from Kimmich looks like something you see with most corner kicks. That was a harsh call as the defender was too far anyway from Schlotterbeck to make a difference... but it doesn't suit your narrative, does it?

      @Greg-cu8yo 3 месяца назад +9

      Yes, because by introducing a "buffer zone", where a fixed distance between attacker and defender is considered as being "equal" and not considered as offside, we will introduce the same discussions and VAR decisions about the puffer zone, as we have now. Its just shifting the problem to a different definition of offside.

Both calls were technically correct but extremely close and I know if Germany had been on the receiving end of those calls I would’ve been fuming. After Musiala’s goal I felt much more secure and it was definitely the result of Denmark pushing up the field, and I think we deserved the win in the end. Italian football is doomed. All the players care about is their club and nothing else, same for the federation. There are less and less fans caring about the national team too, lowkey I think that if Spalletti called only people from Serie B teams and from the under 21, 19 or 17 teams, we would have played leagues better than the pitiful performance we had. There is a reason we missed the last two world cups.
    On top of that, FIFA is still making idiotic changes to their formats (the Nations League is useless and shouldn't be a thing), I fear the good days of international matches are over, this Euro is the most underwhelming I have ever seen in my entire life. The only top teams that are actually playing really well are Spain and Germany.

    Counter arguement to the offside rule change: If the whole body of the attacker has to be ahead to be offside, less defences will play a high line, meaning less attacking and high pressing football, more defences sitting back.

      I would personally like to see one league take a gamble and try a different offside rule, so we can find out what kind of strategies establish themselves and whether it actually changes football for the better or worse. Because I believe both options are equally likely. Something like the MLS could maybe try it as they're in a growing market and in my opinion have more wiggle room when it comes to experimentation.

    The real issue here is not about the technology or the ref, but about the rules. They are not right for the game and not fair to the players or teams/nations. Offside should be when there is an advantage, not when a foot is turned the “wrong way” - advantage is when the weight and movement of the player is turned forward. Not the case here. Maybe the line should not be at the foot, but at the knee - biomechanically that would be way more telling of an advantage in play. About the hand - un unintentional hand shot at from close distance should never be a penalty - ubalanced consequence. Unless it Blocks a shot at goal of course. So proximity and intent should be considered. Penalty WAY too harsh of a deal to be dealt in that exchange. And game deciding.

    I gotta somewhat disagree with your opinion on the handball in the ger-den game. It was the right call, because it was a dead on hand ball. If you properly watch the replay, you can see Andersen raising his arm, his arm is outstretched, away from his body and at shoulder heigt, and it hit his hand so clearly, that his entire hand began to flap. That is a dead on 100% handball. This sits 100% right. I also disagree with the "if it doesn't affect the game" part. That's the exact same sentiment that gives us diving and rolling around faking pain. The rules are also there to dissuade even trying it.
    I gotta agree though, that toe offside is bull. Full body is a bit much, but a whole leg would do.
    All in all, imo it should have been 3:1. The block by Kimmich as well as the offside by Andersen are both absolute bull calls.

    • @RabonaTV

      Yes, I agree that it's a 100% hand ball and the right call. There are sometimes hand balls that still result in opportunities for the attacking team as the touch was absolutely minimal, so they just FEEL harsh. But I totally agree, it was a textbook handball call as his arm wasn't in a natural position close to his body.

      because the rules are written in a different manner than they should. I agree it's not really cool to give a pen like that, we have to cut players some slack, a handball like the Denmark one can happen accidentally and it doesn't really do much in this situation, but it's per the rule book.

    • @TheJanstyler
      @TheJanstyler 3 месяца назад +1

      I guess you mean the Andersen handball? Cause that was 100% textbook handball. Arm moving upwards, stretched out, makes contact with the ball around shoulder height, and it's not even small contact, his entire hand began to flap. If that wasn't ruled as handball, football might as well turn into handball.

    Euro 2024 proves how corrupt UEFA is. It plays favourites. They did everything to have Italy at the tournament in the match with Ukraine, they helped England & France in the group stage, and now this.
    Even before the match i said that Denmark has 0 chance to go through. If Germany will even remotely be in trouble they will give them a penalty.
    They rulled the goal as offside, even considering that the ball reached that position from a deviation by the german side. You can barely see the feet and the moment when the pass leaves towards the player is always remotely subjective. A millisecond is all that it takes to put someone from offside to right play or the other way around.
    The penalty is complete bullshit. There was a even clearer handball in Belgium - Romania for the Romanian side.. but there the penalty wasnt given because Belgium needed a win. There wasnt a clear intention in any of the two, the hand was away from tbe body too, but thats how VAR decides whom to help. If that handball would've been in the german box it 100% wouldnt have been given.
    Screw this. All these rigged decisions totally ruined the experience of watching the tournament. All the big boys need to qualify and we cannot have Germany exit so early.. or France.. or England. Its all about the money.
    Maybe just make Euro for the biggest 8 teams, no qualifying, and stop insulting the audience with this obvious robbery. Germany didnt need this help.

    That Danish player was offside though. If the ref uses VAR , he really has no other option than disallowing the goal, even if it's just the tip of Delaney's (was it Delaney?) shoe.
    Germany also had an early goal disallowed. No room to complain there because it's the refs decision and he said Kimmich obstructed the path of a Danish defender but in the Premier League or even the Bundesliga a lot of refs would have given that goal because the problem was really Schmeichel who looked bad against Schlotterbeck in that situation.
