    Hello everyone it's Aron here, Satria's rescuer. I thought i'd explain a couple of things that have been prevailing from the comments:
    1. At the time of the rescue he'd been running around the village with nobody able to catch him. In order to catch him, I'd enlisted the help of professionals (as you can see I could not get near him either).
    2. Everyone in the village was petrified that he was a diseased dog who would bite them and pass on the disease and nobody knew what to do. I of course wish someone would have acted sooner, but I also understand why people may have reacted in this way.
    3. We don't know what happened to sever his tail. I was told he bit it off, which initially supported a theory that he may have a dreaded zoonotic neurological disease which also kills humans. There is a large fear of this in Bali.
    4. As to why he went back to his territory: Satria is a free roaming dog, which is not common in the west, but in Bali, dogs often have humans but are allowed to roam. This has drawbacks and benefits for the dogs.
    5. As to why he went back to his humans: Knowing it was based on fear, I wanted to give the humans a chance. So I went back and provided my best efforts in education, support and explanation about how to help. When Satria returned healthy, so very happy. I continued my visits and to this day I regularly visit.
    6. I believe in an educational approach and am proud to say this case is a great example of that.
    7. This rescue was in the pandemic, on 6th March 2022. I still visit Satria regularly and am happy to see him happy and healthy.
    A big thank you for messages of support and my apologies if anybody thinks I did the wrong thing. Rescuing here is very hard and I try my best with the situations I'm presented with.
    I hope you enjoyed the video and consider supporting my efforts - my channel is 'Sun and Sage Rescues' and you can see my video on Satria there, as well as many others.
    Aron

    just wanna add that it's amazing how many people will calls dogs in shelters or at the vet "aggressive" when in reality they're just in pain and scared. not necessarily 'aggressive' in this vid, but it's def something to keep in mind if you're ever gonna adopt or help a dog out

      @@wideawakeandangry9635 fr. not just that but you cant judge how a dog is going to be from how they behave in a shelter. so many dogs get looked over because they're hiding in the back or are barking loudly because of the stress, which is why i heavily advocate for foster programs or shelters doing a "trial period" of sorts

Hope & sympathy alone don't feed or pay the vet bills unfortunately, and every cent to these animals is a matter of life and deth. Plz choose life for these animals and donate, either to this shelter in the video or to one of your choice. Rescuing animals is truly a worldwide collective effort...Plz join this noble effort.

    This is not a typical story from Bali/Indonesia, and I'm glad this dog has a nice home.
    But there are so many stories from Bali about the horrendous way dogs are treated and abandoned there, that it's time people from other countries started shaming the Indonesian government and withholding tourism dollars (which are vital to Bali, especially) until something is done to ameliorate the situation.
    I realize this is probably a fool's errand, but even if small changes are made, it's worth it.

    The ending of these kinds of stories is usually the dog goes to a happy well financed home however, I think these are one of those stories where the family probably care for the animal, but they can’t afford the kind of care we would expect. The fact that he visited the dog up to nine months later and the dog seem happy and well fed is very encouraging. so in this instance, I say he was a success story in that the family seems to have been able to turn around the care for the dog and the dog is comfortable with his environment. I kudos to the young man who took that time and spent that money to help the dog and I would expect that he probably will make sure that that dog is OK.

    • @sun_and_sage
      @sun_and_sage Месяц назад

      Thank you so much for understanding this - you are absolutely correct. Not all of my rescues have what I might call the 'perfect ending' but I also have to work with the system and culture. Here, there was a fear of deadly transmissible disease which meant everyone was scared to go anywhere near him. Often, a little education, support, regular visits and help can go a very long way. My take away here is that Satria is happy and safe now and that's all I ever wanted for him. And his family too. Hello its a good question. The answer is that he lives in a balinese compound where he loves as a 'roaming dog'. He stays to his home and his alleyway and that's his territory. Its not the western style but it is still a good and happy life. I post updates on my channels if you're interested in following ❤

      @@sun_and_sage great explanation. Not sure why westerners don't understand

    • @cathyhendrix7552
      @cathyhendrix7552 Месяц назад +1

      @ChattieCathie I understand his explanation just fine. It does make sense to me. But you obviously don't understand it from a " Western " pov. Here in the United States, we have very strict rules and laws about dogs running loose. If we take our dogs for walks, then they have to be on a leash. Unless you live on a farm or have private land. In the suburbs, most people have fenced in back yards so the dogs can run and play. If you live in the city, more than likely, it will be an apartment life for your dog. But there are a number of dog parks that you can take your dogs to and can go off leash to run to their hearts content. I hope I've explained it so that you can understand our dogs way of life and why I would think that his dog was running loose. But I understand the difference of cultures very well.

    There is no such thing as a dangerous dog.
    They are merely traumatized and require time to lower their guard.
