I wouldn't say that Kai is inspired by Taemin but they were trainees together and friends for a long time so much so that they thought they were going to debut together. The industry does acknowledge that they are two of the best performers in the industry. Taemin is inspired by Michael Jackson and in some regards Kai is as well. Even today the Nov. 30 is the anniversary of Michael Jacksons Thriller Album.

It was a nice reaction! It kinda upsets me that when everyone in kpop was popping and locking, Kai went to the biggest award show stage in 2014 and changed the game performing alone a contemporary piece, showing his dancing roots, and it shocked everyone even celebrities there. Then the kpop boys and girls started doing it too, but he gets no credit for it today :/

dudes? you dont know this is KAI style? He literally brought ballet/contemporary/lyrical interpretative style in kpop as the one who professionally trained in those since he was like 7. He learnt hiphop and stuff with taemin when he joined SM and he is the one who influenced and popularized this style in Kpop. That's why he is voted best dancer in kpop for 3 years in a row by KPOP IDOLS themselves. He is the only one who doesnt get compared to any western counterpart or senior. He is just KAI.

@@faaizakauthar4068 It's pretty deep. FO Squad should know some things first considering Kai was the first to popularize Contemporary and Lyrical dance and make it work in the Kpop scene. His dance background is very different compared to most dances in Kpop, but despite that, he still managed to adapt to the style of dance Kpop choreographies have. Them saying Taemin must've been credited for the choreo or Taemin is a role model for Kai is kind of disrespectful. Kai and Taemin may be friends but none of them have took, copied from their dances or have the same style, both have different dance backgrounds respectively, most of all, Kai has stated many times that he has no role model in dancing. Not to mention that they're just freely throwing out Taemin's name, making it seem like he had to take some inspiration from Taemin just because Kai has recently debuted unlike Taemin. And no hate to Taemin of course, these guys are just weird as hell for mentioning Taemin like that

Kai doesn’t need to give Taemin credit. This has been his style for years, in fact since he was a kid, he’s a professional ballet dancer who actually has more experience in dancing than Taemin. I don’t really see Taemin coming out with something this trap influenced. I get you guys are using it as a compliment but it does come off as a bit disrespectful to Kai’s craft. Kai and Taemin are best friends so of course they would influence each other.

Kai himself said he has no role model, when someone mentioned that he was the next Michael Jackson (or sumn like that) he said he respects him but he doesn’t want to be him, so it’s kinda annoying when people compares him to Taemin and say things like you said, he doesn’t have to give credits to anyone for his hard work, he has his own style and he loves dancing since he was a kid so no, Taemin is not his inspiration. They belong to the same company that’s why they might have similar taste in music but other than that there’s nothing to compare here.

I haven't watched their reaction yet, but I can tell that the two almost 'perfect' reactions are from Dezzy and JREKML. They appreciate without overhyping, know some EXO lore, and don't pause too much. Dezzy does say Taemin's name, but only to say that Taemin and Kai are both on another level.

You guys and the people in the comments need to know a few facts. Jongin is trained in ballet and jazz and has been dancing since he was 8 years old. He won the SM best dancer award and got into the company and trained for 5 years. Shortly after he debuted he started something that people tend to overlook. He popularized and revolutionized contemporary dancing and contemporary solo pieces. His performance of Deep Breath in 2014 at award shows was something that has never been done before in kpop, soon enough people starting piling up and doing their own versions of that. Which is fine, but he never got the credit he deserved for it, everybody and their mama was still poppin n locking before Jongin came in. Every time you see an idol doing a solo contemporary piece now just now that's Jongin's impact, and it doesn't take away from their talents it's just facts. Everybody always thinks of crop tops and red suits and gucci and facial expressions (popularized that too) and whatnot when it comes to him but this is much bigger and much more important and needs to be addressed more. So if anyone is doing up inspirations here it's Kai. It's always Kai. His album is self titled KAI for a good reason. He was in control and overseeing everything from concept to visuals to styling to picking the songs to choreography to choosing the dancers. He worked on this project for 9 months, no one else has worked on a solo debut for that long. Put some fucking respect on his name or don't speak it at all. Kai is synonymous with legend, and his solo career has only just begun and he's set for greatness. Thank you.

This is KAI SOLO, he's been dancing since he was a kid. He dance like this since before debuted, and TAEMIN is such a good dancer, but he has his own style. TAE and KAI are bffs :)
Kai studied jazz and ballet since he was a child so his dance style is his own. Him and Taemin are best friends and Kai did ask advice from Taemin about releasing a solo but the whole style was based on music that Kai likes to listen to.

Kai and Taemin Besties and they were mistaken for each other since they were trainees. They trained together and practiced till the early morning after everyone went home. What’s Ironic is Kai is trained in Jazz, Ballet and Contemporary while Taemin is trained in Pop and Lock and hip hop. Taemin can not inspire Kai because those are the genres Kai trained in. This is the reason why they both choose those genres in the SuperM performance video. They went with their strengths. Further to this, contemporary performances were none existent in kpop until Kai had a contemporary solo stage during the MAMAs in 2014, 2 years after his debut and Six (6) years ago. The stage got so much buzz companies started looking into getting their idols to perform more contemporary pieces. Kai is the blueprint for so many things you see in kpop today, which is why they call him the idols idol, so please put some respect on his name.

The difference between him and Taemin is that Kai wasn't given enough chance to show off his VOCALS and STYLES alone. Taemin is another brilliant artist who debuted solo 6 years ago, however this whole album is Kais creation, its literally only kai, nobody else, he took 10 years to get to this point, to be ready to put out his solo album, he prepared 9 months for this solo, if it was inspired by taemin, it would not have took this long, trust me. Its completely his creation, his hard work and his creativity, so please watch on your words when you say it was inspired by any other artist artist. Kai HELD AN AUDITION for his backup dancers. He doesn’t need to give anyone credit but himself and his team. Taemin is an undeniable ICON and his childhood bff (literally look at his insta). They are so close paparazzi tried to find a "scoop" that they were gay because they always hang out together 😂 anyways, both of have similar styles since they did train together but they are different. Kai is the idol of idols, and is only now getting to showcase his talent despite being the same age as Taemin~ so it might look like he was "inspired" by Taemin, but he wasn’t!! Kai has always danced as Kai, Kai made contemporary dancing in Kpop a THING in 2014 - revolutionary, and that’s why now you see idols like Jimin and more doing it. If you can respect BTS’ strides and achievements, I’m sure you can respect Kai. Kai is a brand, is an art and is a style. Even non-fans know the K in Kpop stands for Kai.

Taemin and Kai are literally best friends. they respect each other a lot and are from the same company too. Taemin evolved into the beast he is today but his original dance style and gene is popping and locking but no official training while Kai is classically trained in Jazz and ballet but he can pull off any style. both are artists in their own right. Taemin just debuted early so thats why you might be reminded of him.

Kai has been dancing since he was 6. Trained contemporary, ballet and jazz. He’s the reason you see kpop artists doing contemporary stages. Kai was doing twirls and leaps and pirouettes when most of these idols weren’t even thinking about becoming idols.
