I remember him saying that he doesn't mind if his music doesn't appeal to everyone. That he'll be happy when like minded people listen to his work.
And I think you can hear and see it in his music and music videos. It has so many layers, it's edgy and dark, very creative, nothing and no one you could compare it to.
Taemin is Taemin. He's not trying to be someone else and no one else can be like him. One of a kind.

@@Chloe-gu8mh yeah it is but taemin has a lot of control of his album compared to other artist. That's why he put a lot of his input for his album which doesn't limit to writing songs only. He edits, directs, choose what clothes will be best, come up with concepts, help choreograph. U can see why he is one of a kind
@@Chloe-gu8mh you're right. Might be the reason why I like NCT so much. But just like the other person said, I have the impression that Taemin is not only working on the music itself but also the choreo, the mv and so on. It gives his music more character :)

This song is about how he's finding himself in the another world. He got the motivation from Plato's IDEA theory. Basically it's about how there's another world outside of the real world. So Taemin is looking himself in the another world to like change the whole thing and find himself

Don’t worry Taemin doesn’t plan to retire any time soon! Yeah, he will have a military hiatus some time late 2021 or early 2022, but he stated many times he plans on doing music and performing for a long time if only his health will let him! So fingers crossed, cause honestly I’ve said that many times to my friends I would buy his albums and go to his concerts even if he’s 40 or 50 years old and can’t dance as hard. I just love his voice and his whole artistic persona! In other words Taemin is absolutely the best!!!

BoA is the featured artist. She's doing the "Killing me softly" part. And I feel like chose the title "Never Gonna Dance Again" for this album because he has to go into the military soon. But that's just my guess.
It can't be. Military thing. Minho will return soon, Shinee for sure will have at least 1 album after this.
"Never gonna dance again" was chosen because it fits with the concept of "idea" as in taemin wants to ascend his performer identity looking for his "real" self. Idk if it makes sense but just think of it as someone having a thirst for absolute perfection beyond the label "performer"

The reason for the name of this album has to do with the fact that Taemin wants to be known for more than just his dancing skills, he wants to be known for his singing skills too so that is how act 1 and act2 got the name of never gonna dance again.

Once i sat down and listened to his full discography i was blown away by his talents not just dancing but singing and songwriting. MY favorite songs are Monologue and Never forever. Both are ballads (id say) usually his title tracks are a bit more on the dance side. But you cant sleep on his ballads man the words are too good, even his Japanese ones are amazing. So i recommand reacting to those two

Instead of ‘being trapped in a cave’ and living in the shadow of the truth, I want to free myself from the darkness and embark on a journey of enlightenment where I discover a new ego, identity and meaning,” Taemin explains, referencing Greek philosopher Plato’s theory of ideas.

IDEA is fully connected to Criminal. He said it's like movie. In the Criminal MV, he had arrested and now he is talking to his old demon self from hell in the prison at the beginning of the MV. In the end of the IDEA MV he came to the heaven cuz he found his new true colors and set him free I guess. Oh my god, he is a true, real, original, god sent.... ARTIST.
You guys are amazing! If you want more Taemin, Drip Drop is the way to go! He worked with a dance crew from California (could be wrong) and filmed there as well. Not just Taemin but the backup dancers are also very entertaining to watch!

Taemin movie - Final life, you can find it on Dramacool, this is how I found Taemin in 2017 and I knew that he is kpop idol because of the way he looks, he is a good actor. Here his duality is crazy. To be honest I never know what to expect from him but I know will be crazy!

I am happy to see you guys reacting to this masterpiece of a video. And, the video is truly a work of art. I like what Teamin's creative self goes through in this video, the pure bliss in heaven and the temptation and destruction while in hell. The constant inner fight between his angelic self verses his devilish self made this video even more brilliant. It was like watching a mini movie. I admire that Taemin is not afraid to explore deep inside his soul, whenever you see his videos. And, I am a huge fan of his "Criminal" song and video, but I admit this new video right here is on a higher level. Taemin is on a higher level, than the other artists in his genre right now. He has really set himself apart from the rest out there, he is definitely a performer. The choreography fits the visuals and the storyline well, with its enticing and seductive dance moves. There is a certain amount of light and darkness shown throughout the video which adds alot to the beautiful cinematography, and Taemin's vocals are extremely on point with the theme of the video, as always. Fun Fact: Everything about this is based on Platos theory of forms. The theory of forms is a philosophy-driven perception study, in which Plato claims any physical form is only an image of the truth of the realm form. You can see Taemin executing this in the lyrics and the video. He is talking about himself being a version of different perception, mainly interpreted by himself -> "you are my idea"

Like how he pronounces idea as I-de-a, just like plato did. in this meaning, I-de-a is interchangably with "eidos" = physical from, or ideal. plato states that we are always one step away from our idea, and that the full form is to be discovered, not invented. in the video, you see taemin facing himself as pure matter and different versions of him appearing at the same time, all created by perception. also, you see his fight of good/evil or heaven/hell, all to define his pure form, his ideal of himself.
