Awesome information I did it just how you did it with the zip ties, and worked on my 2018 Chevy Cruze. Thank you.... The CLIK,, CLIK,, CLIK was driving me crazy 😊
Awesome Teresa 👍
As a certified zip tie technician I approve this repair.👍
🤣😅 thanks 👍
If it works it's not stupid. Dealer prices are outrageous but they keep us DIY guys busy helping neighbors. Nice fix and a happy lady!
So true Wyatt 👍 Thanks bud.
Wow, I have never heard clicks on opening a car door. I am sure your neighbors love you Steve. I was thinking you where going to grease it. I think Chevy should fix this problem. That noise would drive me crazy to Vicky!
Hi Papa
It's so common on many cars , yes its annoying forsure.
I can see why it was driving Vicky nuts. A huge difference in what it cost you to fix it Steve and what the dealership wanted to charge. Another awesome hack from the brilliant mind of Steve Rob! Thanks Buddy!
Hi Doug
Zip ties are the secret weapon or the last resort for when all else fails :)
You even got to use one of your hundreds of flush cut pliers 😂🤣😂 You also saved your neighbor some dough 👍
Hi Dave
Yep forsure . She's happy 👍
You the man Steve. Saving the Cruzes one car at a time
HAHAHA, just like baby seals.
Lol great job steve, who can argue with a cheap fix like that. 150 per door wow how crazy is that. Glad you could help bud nice one
Hi Jason
Just being neighborly eh 👍
This also applies to the 2016 Cruze Limited, but not any of the other 2016 Cruzes. Thanks for the clever fix!
👍
Oops I need to clarify, the 2015 fix works on the 2016 Cruze Limited, then the 2017 fix applies to all the other 2016 Cruze models.
Zip ties, tuck tape, vice grips, and a big hammer. My go-to's.
Kenny
Hi Kenny
These ties are a must have 👍
Thank you so much for posting this excellent video. It saved me over $250 that the dealership was asking. I used your first example. That’s why so many go to RUclips for solutions. This is a perfect example of helping the consumer.
Thanks Michael much appreciated. You may have to reapply the zip ties over time if they stretch but it's only cents not hundreds of dollars to resolve. Cheers 👍
@@SteveRobReviews Yes, that’s not a problem. What a poorly designed part. And it’s been this way on new vehicles for years, with no improvement. BTW I used your method on my 2017 Chevrolet Impala. They are similar door straps. The guy at the dealership said they have to take the whole door apart. What a joke. If they could only watch your video. Next time I go in there, I will tell them about your solution. Thanks soooo much!
How's she goin'? Tricky to get at that section of the door eh. The ty-rapps seem to be doing the job though and Vicky was happy so that's a 'win' for me!! Hi Vicky!! Take care you guys!!
Hi Mike
Yep she's happy and no more click , click , click :)
Ah Steve so kind of you to help your neighbour with that annoying car door fix. Smart of you also to fabricate a flat pin to insert into the hinge…brilliant - Vicky should bake you some cookies lol cheers buddy
Hi Ed
Cookies eh :) This was a fun video to do with my buddy next door.
Where were when I had to work on my granddaughters 2011 Chevy Cruze? That thing gave me fits. Then I had to put in a new A/C compressor and condenser on my other granddaughter's 2005 Chevy Equinox.
Hi Rick
Fun cars to work on 🤣
Good Morning Sir, you have done again a miracle 👍😇👌Yes Sir I would to see more of Vicky 💖🌹😎✌Cheers 🍻🍻
Hi Dave
Thanks buddy. 👍
Okay it’s good to see an option to fix these instead of replacing the entire plastic piece by removing the door panels, loosening the other end ( that’s inside the door ) and having another plastic piece put in that will just crack and start doing this again. My vehicle is a 2017 Toyota Highlander and yes most cars have this same issue. My 79 Camaro with 250 lb doors had other issues in the 17 years I owned it but never this because GM used steel back then. I just have to figure out which type I have on m6 Highlander. I’m still not 100 clear on what you did with the nail. You said you have to remove the bolt from the door jam end? Then the modified nail gets put in and goes where? Around the end of that plastic piece??? and bend it back in a similar way to the Zip tie fix on the other type? I’ll have to figure it out when I try this. So far ( and for the past 3 years, the clicking sound only happens occasionally and 5hen disappears for a few months or so. It’s also only 5he drivers side door that clicks and I can see where it is either cracked ora piece broke off. Good video though. I watched the one on the idle issue with a Cruze and cleaning the MAF sensor as well as the Throttle body. I used MAF sensor cleaner on my Highlander on the MAF because it cleans without leaving any residue. I also sprayed it on both sides of the wire/wires in 3-5 second bursts about 6-8 times as mine was just slightly dirty. I did the throttle body with a dedicated throttle body cleaner and because the TB is bigger that on a Cruze I could get in the with my finger and a microfibre cloth sprayed with the cleaner. It didn’t look that dirty but the cloth came out pitch black. Note that the idle may run a little high for the next day or two as the ECM ( cars computer ) adjusts the idle now that it is getting enough air with the throttle plate closed. The Highlander ran noticeably smoother and acceleration was noticeably crisper. Fuel mileage actually increased a tiny amount. The vehicle wasn’t that bad to begin with so maybe that’s why on mine the idle didn’t go up more than 100-150 rpm’s but dirty ones that are cleaned will go up from 750 rpm to 1200 rpm or so for a could days. This “ cleans “ should be done as part of regular maintenance every 25,000-35,000 miles ( 40,000 to 55,000 kilometres ) as well as vehicles with easily accessible PCV valves should have those changed out every 40-50,000 miles as well.
@Zeek800 The door catch designs are many so just try a couple of zip ties to tighten up the catch.
Looooooooooool when u said this car was 2015-2017 I can’t believe wat pile that car is
Had 2003 Mitsubishi out lander never made a noise there
Know got 2011 Honda no noise either

Great video zip tires work miricals
👍
It’s definitely a WIN!!!
Yes absolutely a win. Cheers 👍
The world is a better place because of zip-ties, right Steve. Cheers Buddy
HAHAHA right on Lloyd .
Ya the would drive me batty! But how are those guys at the dealer going to pay for their fancy cottages on the lake?😆
Take care Steve✌
Marc it's a gong show many times as people just don't know how to fix things today as some eat well doing it for them :)
Cool .
Hi Terry
I bet you have zip tie tricks up your sleeves too :)
So............that’s how you roped in the neighbour. The sip ties are good for a lot of thing and for the life of me can’t understand a big company like GM, to put out such junk on a car. Just put a chuck of rope for crying out loud......CHEERS
Hi Gator
It's a common thing across so many brands . Cheers 👍
zip ties for the win
Yes sir easy and cheap 👍
