Just for the record: Paul and Linda (and Denny Laine) did the background vocals on George's Lennon tribute song "All those years ago" in 1981

Amazing how he had the patience to talk to these people.

Sadly George was initially so underated. But the 'quiet achiever' certainly made it in the end. True to himself, he remained modest about all his achievements. Great example he set.

Ironically, he co-wrote the very first recorded Beatle song (The Quarrymen) with Paul McCartney in 1958 - In Spite All the Danger

The problem question for every ex beatle was, when are the Beatles getting back together. That question haunted all of them during their solo years. From everything i ever read not one of them wanted to get back together unless they had something to say and its obvious none of them did. The media always pestered them with reunion questions which was stupid of them. I'm glad they never united again, there was no way they could match or even come close to the magic of their earlier time. It never happens.

They could never be “the Beatles” again, nor did they want to, especially after John was murdered & no longer with us.

I think George was slightly annoyed that Paul never reached out to work together with him. There are other interviews he gave expressing that sentiment. He wasn’t angry about it apparently, but it seems he was slightly disappointed.

Actually Paul did reach out to work with him but George didn't want to because Paul is a control freak in the studio

@@harleyquinn5826 you mean Paul practices his craft along the lines of excellence. Why don’t you people bashing Paul for being a “control freak” just say “thank you, Paul” and move along.

    • @harleyquinn5826

@@timmckeown1313 I'm just stating the fact that Paul actually did reach out to him in hopes of collaborating with him and was declined. As you can know from people who worked with him or from watching Get Back, Paul, unfortunately, did have a controlling personality that ultimately defeats the whole point of a partnership, as he unconsciously wanted to impose his taste only. I do not think he did it purposefully, he just had that kind of personality.
We're talking about two of the great geniuses of the 20th century and both of them had different personalities, but as you can know from many accounts of people who worked with them, they always had a standard of excellence that they strived for.

@@harleyquinn5826 I don’t view Paul’s “controlling personality” as a negative. As anyone who watched the Get Back series can figure out, but for Paul pushing the group nothing would have been accomplished. In fact, but for Paul the Beatles would have disintegrated in 1967 after Brian died. I love Harrison, but he was quite the contrarian; he could be strong-headed, opinionated, and not the easiest cat to work with either at times. That comes out quite clearly during Get Back. George’s pique at not being in John and Paul’s tight orbit at the time was really the source of his consternation towards Paul - unfairly so in my view.

@@timmckeown1313 Well said. I could imagine that a big problem that George had with Paul was due to the fact that he was childhood friends with Paul and George felt comfortable bashing Paul. He never felt comfortable bashing John. He had said you never knew who you would get with John... An angel or a bastard. John was unpredictable and Paul was safe enough to have rows with. And I'm sure it was very hard to watch John and Paul become so tight when you feel like you're a third wheel and you grew up with Paul and you are writing at the level of Lennon and McCartney. You can see George in get back almost wincing every time Paul and John are singing two of us. Like... hello... What about three of us lol
