In 1992, there was a jazz festival in Rio de Janeiro and Robben Ford, who I confess, did not know, would perform on the same day that Albert King, of whom I was and am a fan. Simply put, the Robben Ford show was one of the best I've seen in my entire life. Albert King will forgive me wherever he is.
I still think this is my favorite guitar that Robben's ever played. It gives him that round, warm, thick Les Les Paul thing with extra clarity which I find completely addicting :)

Saw him back when he was playing these Fender Elite guitars back in the mid nineties. What a gracious guy he was, not only did he play his heart out for us, but hung and answered questions and greeted fans. The other guitar player in our band, back then, turned me on to him. Been a fan ever since.
Of course RF can make any guitar sound good but I still think he made some of his best stuff with that Fender Esprit RF Model. Wonder what went wrong with the relationship with Fender. Probably money.
Had the pleasure of being a stage hand during one of his performances. What a privilege! Got to see soundcheck and the show. So humbling.

Boy, he makes that lovely Fender sing! And when the bassist starts hitting those tapping chords, he sounds like a B3 on accompaniment. Brilliant.

Roscoe Beck on bass! I bought a RB fender signature bass after seeing this configuration at "The Cabooze" in Minneapolis. Robben is a monster!
