    I was 5 years old when Mt St Helens blew. In Puyallup. I remember looking out the window thinking wow it’s snowing!

      My mom just found out she was pregnant with me when this happened. They lived in post falls Idaho but were moving to Portland Oregon area during the eruption.
      My dads favorite story was being all alone on the Highway when the national speed limit was enforced and he drove 50mph the whole way home haha. He said if he drove the 5mph then his engine would suck up the ash and blow the motor but going 40-50 the dust would shoot up around him and not get into the engine lol.

      I'm glad you enjoyed it. Also every volcano has it's own personality too and behave differently from one another

    Thank you much for this video scott! It was very, very well put together! Yeah, it is seeming like traditional magma chambers really are wrong. The underground magma zones at volcanoes are much more intricate. And 5ft per day for MT St Helens right before it erupted??? That is crazy deformation! WOWZA! I bet if that happened at any volcano anywhere people would be much more open to saying an eruption was going to happen. My mother was in Yakima and got pummeled with inches upon inches of ash from the 1980 eruption. Is it true Helens did not just erupt once during 1980? But had many other large eruptions throughout the month? Very interesting. Thank you again Scott and God bless! (Looks like the tremor episode on the Olympic Peninsula is now calming down. Thought it would go on for longer. Wonder if this was just a "blip" of sorts before the next one?)

      I'm glad you enjoyed it. There were some much smaller eruptions but May 18th was Gods big show. On my earthquake discussion group there was a article posted about our ETS events and I left a reply asking why we see LF tremors outside of the main events and I will do a video update on what I find out

    Thanks, what does Mt Rainier look like underneath the Mountain? Does anyone know?

    I’ve always been curious, did the 5.1 earthquake cause the eruption? Or the other way around?

    • @SCW1060
      @SCW1060  5 лет назад +1

      The landslide was caused by the quake and the landslide allowed the eruption to begin. The eruption was going to happen anyway but the landslide just helped it start a bit earlier

    Scott, at 7:21 you use an image that labels a stratovolcano. Could you please tell me who the owner of that image is so that I may get permission to use it.

    • @SCW1060
      @SCW1060  5 лет назад +1

      It was a random image. But there is a law that allows you to use images for educational purposes. It's called fair use and you're not allowed to make any money from it. If you haven't done so remember to subscribe and click the bell

    I have a question does stratovolcano have ash on the volcano or it's just snow

    • @linetlara2539

      I don't know

    • @SCW1060
      @SCW1060  5 лет назад

      Yes but under the snow unless it just erupted
