Great review Jim. As a proponent of the philosophy; if your life doesn't fit into a hatchback, simply your life, it's good to see back to back hatchback reviews.
Excellent as always Jim. I love cars of this size - they seem just perfect to take on all the various roads we have in the UK. Not needlessly bulky. This engine is also available in the Skoda Fabia and I bet it goes really well in that.
I agree that this a great handling little car... but I can't get behind a £41,000 luxury car tax Audi A3. There are thousands of good cars out there if you have £40k to spend.
I have the same spec on a March 24 plate (pre facelift). Totally agree with you about the brakes - they are not “progressive” at all !!! Matrix headlights are AMAZING !!
When I looked to change my A3 recently I thought the T roc was a no brainer in comparison. I prefer Audi but with their decision to kill off the q2 I didn't really see any viable alternatives spec wise. T Roc is my first 'suv' and I don't ever see myself going back to a hatchback
Good video thanks. How does the drive and comfort compare to the new Golf 8.5 R Line which I think you've also driven? I ordered the R Line but being messed around over delivery. Was supposed to get it in September but still don't have a confirmed build date. Have been thinking of switching though will cost a lot more as prices have gone up since I placed my order in June. Thank you.
Extremely similar to be honest (not surprising I guess). I probably prefer the Audi but not due to the drive as they’re more or less the same behind the wheel.
I hear that diesel is actually quite refined. I would prefer the 2.0 diesel 150hp version on paper as I love the torque of the diesel low and midrange where you need it without having to rev the nuts of it. Better on fuel economy too.
@DefinitelyNotAGuru I don't do long journeys, but I find that you have to really rev the petrol engine hard to get anything out of it. They seem really flat and slow on the power delivery for normal driving which is low down and mid range compared to diesel.
Cheers Jim great review lot of money for a golf in a party frock also does the tech pack make the car attach itself to the car infront at about 10'(3metre) distance?
Hi Jim, have had the same car as you're driving for 10days. MMI is bloody awful. Keeps forgetting its settings, MyAudi App gets confused and resetting. Local Audi dealer kind of helpful in a distant uninterested way. Much of what you have reported about the a3 I;d agree with, but the MMI and constant 'nagging' messaging is a right pain.
I was going to get an Audi to replace my Seat leon however the SNP are going to bring in Pay Per Mile and Ulez to every city and town. Their main objective is to price us all out of our cars.
Hi mate. I'm a new subscriber and i know its not related to thos video. I noticed you said you had a company car and perhaps you was a area sales manager? Im a on the road salesperson and my company have given me option to have a tesla model y awd long range or a audi a3 the plug in hybrid version. I dont have a drive so I'll have to depend on public charges. I know thats possible because my brother is currently doing that. Im tempted to go for the tesla. What do you think?
The best thing for me about having a full EV (I have a Tesla with a home charger) is being able to charge at home, it's insanely cheap and really convenient. The Tesla would be great but I'd probably go for the PHEV in your situation at the moment.
A horrible colour I have to say but a good account of a manufacture who have been making good cars. £41000.00 is a lot of money for all the gadgets. I drive a new model A 200 A class Executive AMG auto mild hybrid & must say very similar to the Audi/BMW 1 series. The black piano interior finish I have I mine is annoying I hate it & now no physical buttons on the newer styled sterring wheel. Why do these manufacturers do this, it is so unessasary. Keep up the good work with your road tests & lease deals. Cheers 😊
Good car but why is it that manufacturers are so fixated with dark head-linings? Interesting to note that the A3 has been outselling the VW Golf in many months but I guess this may be down to lower monthly finance costs as a consequence of lower depreciation.
41k is hilariously stupid for an Audi a3 with some added flash. And you'd have to bend over every year to pay the luxury car tax too. The manufacturers should step-up and pressure the government to drop this ridiculous tax on motoring. And if luxury needs to be defined, I'd errrr toward >£75k+
Great 'independent' review as always Jim- many thanks 👍. Wow, £41k for a car that looks as though the headlamp design was an after thought and the piano-black interior already looks dated. I know design is a personal thing but I much prefer previous A3 versions marks
Another nice one Jim. Considering, in particular, your informative purchase/lease deals of the week posts, can’t understand why you have such a relatively low subscriber base. Keep up the good work mate, it will come eventually!

Obviously this is specced to the hilt and they start at £29k for those with less wallet.
Just don't spec it up to £41k.
You won a dashcam by the way Mike in my monthly members draw, watch the recent members only short video 👍

Yes! I only got to use them the day after filming but there are insanely good.
Timeless classic 👍🏻

I've got an 08 A3 this turbo, served every year ,Love it.( 103000 )
👍👍
Really nice car and good to know that you can still get your hands on a premium car sub 40k stealth tax band.
👍👍
I loved my A3 but £41k for a mid hatchback is crazy.
£41k for this one with all the spec known to man. From £29k

Yep, I'd lease one if I were in the market

@DefinitelyNotAGuru Thanks Jim. Think the Audi is more premium looking which is reflected in the price.

It’s a nice engine but I wouldn’t exactly called it refined. Obviously better if you do regular long journeys or tow.

@@DefinitelyNotAGuru So you do no not thing there is any difference in power delivery and torque?
you really don't want a modern diesel if youre doing mostly short journeys - DPF issues will happen

😂😂😂
Got the exact same car in gray. Loving it! Would love to know what you think of the adaptive cruise control
I think it’s great, only used it on a very short run in this car (but also used it in the new Golf) works very well.
@@yassermughal3692 did yours come with a flat bottom steering wheel?
@ no mate..think that is only on the Sline..was a little disappointed tbh

Definitely 👍
Does the sat nav call the British Motor Museum at Gaydon just off the M40 by its pre 2016 name Heritage Motor Centre?
No idea

Maybe a very small one
It should have a flat bottom steering wheel as standard now, ?

Why have they used the S3 red badge on the rear of an A3 S line! 😮
Ask them 😬
A puncture is definitely going to ruin anyone's day. I'd rather have a spare tyre than a nifty bit of hidden boot space.
👌
I'd reckon that one is missing it's space saver or the polystyrene moulding.
VW group now have a very compact block for the pump and slime.

Yep, they start at £29k and around the £35k mark gives most of what most would want without receiving a shafting by the government
No doubt it’s a good all rounder. But 40k? Another example of profiteering.
From £29k to be fair.
