  • NXCAM Training | Lesson 5 - SECOND OPERATION CREATION ... In this lesson I am going to show you how to create a "resulting stock" from our OP10 file, bond the stock to the part and how we can saveAs our OP10 file to save time creating the 2nd operation file.
Thanks @Bumble2301 for the great advise in the last video!
If you have anything to share, let me know in the comments.

    Hello again!
In my opinion, bringing the OP10 "rest blank" into the OP20 setup would be easier if you select OP20 program in the geometry menu ->workpiece->Blank -> and there from the drop-down menu "IPW -In Process Workpiece".
From there "Browse" and select "Workpiece" of OP10 program. The positioning should be "From the part". In this way, you can automatically transfer the remaining blank from the OP10 program to the new program and it will always follow the part, no matter which position part is from OP20.
In addition, if the OP10 program is updated later (there are changes to the residual blank), it is always automatically updated to the OP20 program. This option is very nice and usefull from NX.

      @@tuoppi861 hey 👋
This is certainly a great option and I will demonstrate this in a future video if people like that way of working. One issue for me is I personally don’t like my stock to be in the “link” chain for stock models.
If I go and edit my OP10 program I don’t want my future operations to go ungenerated, but again this is my personal preference and experience.
Saying that I’m sure some people would prefer to work this way 👍
      Thanks again tuoppi!

Yes you are right. Unnecessary generation and update of the blank is sometimes frustrating (if the blank doesn't really change). On the other hand, if you determine the blank from the created facet body as in your video, it is quite a big job to change the blanks in all the rest of the programs, if, for example, there were big changes to the OP10 program and the residual blank changed a lot.
Maybe there would be a development proposal for Siemens that there would be no need to do re-generations if the blank doesn't really change...

@@tuoppi861 I can certainly see pro and con for both ways, it would really depend on the company and the kind of parts they produce to determine which would be better.
It would be a cool idea if you could use your idea but make it non associative or something like that ❤️
