    Thanks, only needed a pair of mole grips to hold the key part while I pushed it off. It was stiff and putting a wide blade screwdriver carefully between the grip and the fob, started to move it and pushed with thumb completed it. A small blade slid under the edge of the battery and twisted gently lifted the battery, the new one just pressed straight in locked it

    my car key doesn't open the car door if I use it as a normal key (not by pressing the button), I wonder how can I make it open if someday the battery is over and have no chance to change it

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  5 лет назад +1

      Hello. This is a common problem. The back of the lock normally breaks. The door panel needs removing to diagnose the fault. Take the door lock out of the car and see if it works out of the car.
      The simplest way to sort it out is with a new door lock.

    My renault clio key is like that i have a question, i own a renault clio dci 1500, i can open my doors with the key ( button ) i can start the engine with my keys BUT if i try to open my car by inserting the key in to door ( manually ) e won't work, the key doesn't spin, any idea why?

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Alexandra. Ok, so do you mean that the key doesn't turn left or right?

    • @218DX
      @218DX 7 лет назад +2

      Yes, it works on the ignition ( to start the car ) just fine, but not on the doors, and it scares me because if one day my key batteries run out, i won't be able to unlock the doors.

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  7 лет назад

      The usual reason for this is that someone has replaced the ignition, because the original one has gone faulty. Or maybe the door lock has been attacked with a screwdriver and replaced with a random lock. Does the ignition key fit the fuel cap?

    • @218DX
      @218DX 7 лет назад +1

      Yes, it fits the fuel cap and the ignition to start the car, and the key that i have is like the one on this video, if i click the button it unlocks automatacly, it simply doesn't lock / unlock if i try to stick the key in the section of the doors and try to spin, it doesn't spin... so if 1 day i run out of batteries on my key, i won't be able to open my car.

    • @TheCarKeyMan
      @TheCarKeyMan  7 лет назад

      Ok, it sounds like the lock is broken, or someone put a new one in and lost the key ( this is very common) You just need a key made to it ( a good Auto Locksmith can do this ) or a new lock fitted

      There isn't a separate thing to do after changing the battery, it should just work. Does the button inside the car that does the central locking work?

    Once I have changed the battery, do I need to do anything to "re-connect" it to my car? Or will it work immediately? A couple of people I've spoken to recon I need to take it to a garage to change the battery, cause they'll need to re-link to the CPU. Can anyone tell me if this is bollocks or not?

      @@TheCarKeyMan hiya basically it still works but randomly decides not to. I got in it this morning, solid red light and the van started 1st time. I then went for diesel at the petrol station and when i returned to the van, i inserted the key and... flashing red light so didnt even bother trying to start it. Weirdly i have to lock the doors, unlock them again using the key and if i do this 4 or 5 times the red light eventually recognises my key and solid red light. Its annoying as hell because if im with a customer at work and im sat locking and unlocking my van theyll be wondering what im doing haha. But it sometimes takes 4 or 5 goes before the light finally goes solid red. Id happily take the immobiliser out as its driving me mad.

I have a spare key but that 1 didnt have a battery so i changed the back part of 1 key fob and added it to the other that has the battery and it still is intermittent which makes me think it wont be the key as neither works 100% of the time. • @TheCarKeyMan

      Ok so this is really common. The problem is a hairline crack in one of the components on the key. When you hold down the button, it presses the components together to make a connection.
      Eventually, it can't take any more! Then it gives up :(
