Happy Monday everyone, I hope you enjoy this winter capsule wardrobe video ❤ Thanks for being patient with me, this took a bit longer to edit than what I expected. As always, would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! ⤵️
Really great wardrobe capsule, it is classic, sophisticated and versatile. It’s also timeless and ageless. BTW, that Holland Cooper sweater style is called a Shooting Jumper, the leather patch in front is designed to prevent wear from a gun, the elbow patches also prevent wear and improve comfort when stalking, which often involves lying flat on the ground for extended periods. I don’t approve of hunting, unless it’s really needed for food, but I like the sweater anyway.
Thanks Kimberly, really happy you liked it and love hearing your feedback as well ❤ Ah yes, that's it, you're right, I remember it now you've mentioned the style.... I haven't hunted myself but do love the sweater! Thank you so much for making the time to watch and comment 🙏
Just discovered your channel and I looked at some of the pieces that you bought from Sézane. Let’s just say I’m obsessed and will definitely be investing. Thank you!
Hello Dear Lauren, all the winter capsule wardrobe is looking great. And, what caught my attention the most this time is the white Cashmere knit and the knee-high black leather boots and also the flat brown equestrian style leather boots. Thank You for sharing and have a wonderful Christmas time week 🌹❤️✨
Hi Marcel, thanks for making the time to watch and share your thoughts, it's great to hear your feedback 🙏 Wishing the same to you and your family as well ❤🎄✨
Great capsule wardrobe, Lauren! I liked everything except the floral dress which is too girly for my style. I’d substitute a sweater dress. Also, I wear lots of ankle length booties in the winter and would also add a knitted cap to go with the scarf and gloves 😊.
Hi Pat, thank you so much! 🙋♀️ A sweater dress is a great suggestion and honestly it's probably more versatile than the one I chose 👗 really appreciate your feedback on this, hope you've been having a great weekend so far! 😀
I love a midi-skirt year-round, pleated, slip style, button-front, A-line, leather, you name it. I just wear knee-high boots over long socks to keep my legs warm. If it’s really cold I add tights or thin leggings, but my climate (California) is pretty mild.
You're lucky to have the mild Californian climate! I think maybe it's similar to what we have here in Sydney, for most of the year... I honestly don't know why it took me so long to appreciate a midi skirt, I can understand why you love them especially as you mentioned, there are a lot of different styles in the midi length 😊
All of the winter pieces you got are pretty interesting. Well as someone who lives in northeast of US those boots will hopefully prepare you for light to heavy brutal snow and or slush. Lucky that is not the case for Sydney so it’s a good for crisp weather. Glad your back on the grid and honestly I enjoy seeing different colours unique to winter especially blue. Take care and have a good Christmas break.
Hi Irvin! 🙋♀️ Thank you for making the time to watch and comment 🙏 Have you had any snow as yet up there or will it arrive later after the new year? ☃️ Sometimes I wish it snowed here in Sydney! ❄
@@LaurenGraceHarding so far no and I like to keep that way because I had bad experiences with navigating back from work/uni (before pandemic) to home. Mostly with slush (if I hit that good bye socks) and hard to walk if it’s not x inches and heavy. If it’s light that not too heavy it’s okay. It depends where snow hits hard in the region. Honestly it’s a testiment of fortitude. I’m sure there will be a random snow some point in Sydney who knows. Thanks Lauren for being curious about snow it’s strange we still don’t have it….yet. ❄️
Hello Lauren! You have a wonderful selection of clothes! I just fell in love with this gorgeous black floral dress!!! It's just so pretty and feminine and you look beautiful in it! I also loved the boots! It is not easy to find a pointy high heel boot that has a stack high heel instead of the typical stiletto heel! I think stiletto heeled boots although beautiful are more suitable for a more evening wear so not many chances to wear them often. Except if someone is going out very often! Your brown equestrian boots are also beautiful and quite unique as a design! I love loafers and ballet flats all year round although in winter I can't wear them as much! They look effortlessly chic and are so comfortable and easy to wear! Skinny jeans are a must no matter the season! As you mentioned, they are absolutely necessary when wearing lots of layers or oversized clothing and it's the only pair of trousers to wear in knee length boots! Skinny jeans also make you look leaner and taller, especially dark high waizted ones. But of course all that is a matter of preference, body type and way of life! I hope you will enjoy the Christmas holidays! Keep well and have fun! 🎄🎅🎁
Hi Katerina! 🙋♀️ Thank you, I'm really happy to hear that you liked the collection, especially the floral dress 👗 It has great memories for me as the first time I wore it was when I visited Paris and went to the Moulin Rouge 💃 I remember falling over in a pair of stiletto ankle boots down stairs so now I try to stick to block heels as much as possible 😆 Loafers and ballet flats are such great and comfy choices, I can understand why you love them...and glad you also appreciate skinny jeans as well! I agree that they can make you look leaner as well, depending upon body type. Plus so comfy and stretchy 😉 Thank you for making the time to watch and comment, also for the lovely holiday wishes too. Wishing you a magical Christmas holidays as well 🎄✨😘
I really enjoyed this video showcasing winter wardrobe essentials. I am trying to create my own capsule wardrobe and I find it useful to see how you’ve created your version. It seems less overwhelming when divided into categories. I noticed many Sézane favourites of mine and you have a lovely collection of outerwear. And the cameos by your dog are cute 🥰 have a wonderful week Lauren ❤️🎄✨
Hi Cristina, thank you so much for making the time to share your thoughts, so happy you enjoyed the video 💗 Ah yes, so many Sézane pieces, I feel they are such a core part of my wardrobe now, really happy with the quality and designs... and thank you, before I started filming I had a feeling Thumper might pop over to make a cameo, it's always lovely when he does! 🐶❤😊 Hope you have a wonderful week ahead 😘
I would add one, or ideally, two knitted/sweater long-sleeved dresses, one in a light neutral and one in a dark neutral. You could choose roll-neck, crew-neck, or another style; I prefer V-neck or square neck (I’m busty). I just find these super-comfortable, versatile and appropriate for almost every occasion, I wear them at home and for day-street wear more than any other winter item. They are also one-and-done, but more casual than many other dress styles (I notice that your two featured dresses are quite formal, which is limiting). I prefer those with a more fitted bodice and a flared or pleated skirt, but this year I’ve seen mostly straight-cut, boxy oversized ones, or tight bodycon, neither of which I love; last year’s offerings were more varied. These can be easily styled in a lot of ways by changing footwear, the coat/jacket/blazer, and accessories like belts, scarves, vests, cardigans, jewelry, etc. My favorite way for daytime is a roll-neck one with knee-high boots, a nice belt and a wool blazer, it’s so classic. Many brands have nice cashmere ones. I think, in general, you could use more casual, simple dresses, yours are beautiful, but dressy and very memorable, which limits their usefulness.
Great suggestion, Kimberly! I really need to try out a knitted/sweater dress, it's something I've never felt comfortable enough to try out as yet. Yes, those two dresses are quite fitted - they're remnants of my younger style preferences but I can't let go of the floral one, it's too precious for me 💕 I feel I've shifted more towards trousers lately though, especially for winter. Most of my dresses are either dressy, workwear-ish or for spring/summer. So incorporating some wintery options like those you suggested is something to truly consider. Thank you for sharing your thoughts here, I really appreciate it ❤
Thank you for this capsule video, you have such a friendly presence 🤗 I saw the small light coloured top handle shoulder bag in one of your outfits shown but couldn’t find it linked below, can you tell me where it is from?
Hi Margreet, thank you! 🙋♀️ Really happy to hear that you liked it ❤ The bag is from Polène, it's their Numero Un Nano in the taupe colourway. I did an unboxing of this on my channel a few months ago in case you'd like to see close up's clips of it. Hope this helps 😊
I love you too Lauren . THIS KEITH THOMPSON FROM ATLANTA, GEORGIA LIKE YOUR BEAUTIFUL WARDROBE LAUREN . YOU ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL PERSON WITH A BEAUTIFUL SMILE TOO..
Hello Keith! 🙋♀️ Thank you so much and it's lovely to meet someone from ATL - I've always wanted to visit Georgia 🇺🇲 Hope you're keeping well up there and wishing you a wonderful new week ahead 😘
The Isabel Marant belt is such an interesting shape! I've never seen anything like it before. It's actually quite pretty and interesting. Lovely piece. I think all the suggestions are really great. I started learning to sew recently (so I'll soon have a skirt added to my wardrobe haha), and I think I might actually try my hand at making a pair of high waisted or paper bag trousers at some point! Great video Lauren, and Happy Christmas when it comes 🎄💖
Hey Michelle 🙋♀️ Really happy you liked the belt as well, it is such a unique design! That's so great you've started learning how to sew, definitely a skill I think more people would value learning. My mum bought me a sewing machine years ago but I haven't used it as much as I should have....something I need to pick back up again...I grew up with her sewing from McCalls and other patterns and always admired what she was able to create🧵🪡🧶 What type of skirt are you making at the moment? What material, colour?! Would love to hear the details 😊 and making a pair of trousers in high-waisted or paper-bag style would be amazing... you could potentially open up your own brand/store selling designs if you want one day! 💯
@@LaurenGraceHarding thank you so much for the well wishes! The belt is so pretty and most definitely unique! I’ve only just started using a machine but it’s been easy to get the hang of it so far I think. I’m actually sewing up a skirt pattern of a 1900s bicycle skirt. It’s out of a dark grey wool check. I’m excited to have it completed though (was hoping to finish before Christmas) It’s so cool that your mum sews! I hope you can get to pick it up if you like 😁 As for my own design label haha maybe! I’ll have to think about it 😆
@@MichelleSMV just googled this style of skirt and I can imagine how gorgeous it will be in a dark grey wool check 🥰 Hope you can finish it soon and enjoy wearing it!
I just stumbled on your channel. Love your videos and style and that you are petite too! I am just curious who made the floral black dress you featured. It’s beautiful
Hi Lauren! As a fellow shortie (I'm only 5" / 151 cm) I struggle a lot finding clothes that fit & are not too long (especially bottoms), so I find your videos very helpful, especially since we have a similar style and we shop from pretty much the same brands. But it would be even better if you could say what sizes you ordered for each garment, whether they're from the main line or petite (if applicable), and whether you had to adjust them and where (for pants especially), or any other details you think us shorties should know (like whether boots are rubbing the back of your knee, for example). Thank you!
Hi Mitsuri! 🙋♀️ Thanks so much for making the time to watch and comment, I really appreciate it...it's great to meet a fellow shortie as well 😀 Appreciate your suggestion, will try to include that info in future videos...I did note my sizes in the description box but that has a maximum character limit, which I reached with this description as there was a lot of detail which I provided. I can share that I always need pants taken up, regardless of the style. I don't think there were any items from a petite range in this video, they were all from main lines. The black boots are soft leather and didn't hurt at the back of the leg. The brown boots did come up a bit high on my legs but dropped and softened after a few wears. If there's sizing info you need on any particular item, feel free to ask. Hope this helps 😘
Hello Lauren. You are very beautiful and good looking woman with a beautiful outfit and boots too.. Lauren you are good looking and attractive white woman . You are a beautiful and attractive personality too. I love your beautiful wardrobe.
Note, those aren’t button-down shirts. Any top that has a full front opening/closure is a shirt, but button-down refers only to a specific collar style that has buttons on the collar to button it to the body. It’s fine to just say shirt, or button-front shirt, but incorrect to say button-down if there are no collar buttons. The fabric and details don’t matter, it can be silk with a lace collar and puffed sleeves, or plain cotton broadcloth, they’re both shirts. There is a tricky category of tops that have a partial opening in front. If it has buttons there and is a knit, calling it a Henley is good, but if not, I’ve seen a variety of terms, like popover or pull-over, none of which have become standard. A blouse opens and closes in the back, it has nothing to do with the formality or style.
Ah I never knew that, that's actually really great to learn, thanks Kimberly! 😊 I only have one true button down shirt then where the collar has buttons to attach to the shirt - I leave those unbuttoned though as not a fan of it buttoned-up! I love how you're a fountain of knowledge because I feel like I learn a lot from what you share in the comments, so thank you! 🙏💯😘
