    Yes, anyone can eat halaal meat. In fact, the Muslims look for kosher labels before they purchase their food. Thank you for this video.

    i usually go to muslim owned resturants and i ask them whats got what in it and let them know that i believe in judaism so thats why im asking and usually a very friendly conversation starts up and i end up feeling welcome back i dont live near a kosher deli so halah is my best option but if i lived near one it would depend on price (and thats not cause jews are cheap lol) for years jews live with muslims to hide from christian anti semitism so having muslim friends is history repeating its self

    Hey man,
    A few thoughts on the topic, the length and sharpness of the knife as well as hesitation in cutting could cause the meat to become trief- torn , not kosher (Pressing,Pausing, Piercing , Tearing and Covering all invalidate kosher slaughter). Also the hindquarters as well as certain fats from ruminants ( 4 legged cud chewers) are not kosher, but are halal.

    Where I live, there is no kosher meat except HN hot.dogs. And it's FAR too expensive to get kosher food shipped. But there is very inexpensive, excellent nutrition label-stats, halal beef and lamb. So what would you do? (besides be vegetarian)

    @galbraith6 it depends on how you want to look at it. the only real issue that i can see if that there could be contamination with non-kosher meat touching the same equipment (but how likely is that???) and also that muslims can eat "unkosher" parts of the animal. From my reading/understandind, Halal meat is OK and preferred to non-Halal because it's sacrificed in the name of G-d (albeit in Arabic, but thats fine to me, too)

    I think shellfish is a special thing for Bani-Israel, like a extra condition but all else is the same, but even for muslims shellfish is a bit iffy, as it is makroh or non-preferred meat.

    Yeah, that's really good question!
    Actually in my city there's only one kosher and one halal shop, and unfortunatelly non of them is close to me, but I think there's nothing bad in eating halal meat- as you wrote, at least it's better to eat halal meat than meat from supermarkets or sth, where you don't have idea if you're buying chicken or something different. ;)
    Yay! and 3xdaily.org is great idea- I only miss some section about women;s prayers- how to stand, whento pray, what to wear etc. :)

  • @punktorah

    Found an interesting paper on the Jewish approach to Islam: godsholymountain. org/papers/islam_ar.pdf doesn't really speak about Halal though, but famous Jewish scholars do consider Muslims to pray to the same God and emphasise that we both believe in the oneness of God and if you agree Halal and Kosher are basically the same, sure the people slaughtering the meat might follow different religions but they both say a blessing to the same God. Shame there isn't more of a debate on this!

    Although most Jewish folk don't consider Halal to be Kosher, or at least aren't allowed to eat it if they do keep Kosher. Which is a shame, since here in the UK, you're more likely to see Halal butcher shops than Kosher butcher shops. Although if you live in the big cities you can get kosher meat. Funnily enough, when my family came to the UK in the 60s, there weren't many Halal options available, but there was a kosher butchers near their house in London, they used to go there for their meat!

    Happy you mentionned it its very true. I mean I respect all religions including Judaism but I have always had the impression that Judaism is an extremely secular religion allowing no one in it and even if you guys do allow some people its under conditions that a person has to follow for a year. Which is a way to push away the non-jew individual as far away from the religion to the point where a lot of people dont end up chosing the faith. The jewish autorities dont mind the decision...

    Here is some food for thought. I am not a Rabbi, don't take my word for it. Allah is essentially the same one God that Rambam himself says that the Ishmaelites serve, which is the God of Israel. Yemenite Jews say Allah, in fact most eastern Jews do. Its not an issue of God(s). I believe the issue boils down to the specifications of how the jugular is sliced and the sharpness of the blade, in Orthodox Judaism there is a specific sharpness that must be verified, the suffering of the animal needs to be as little as possible. Its boils down to specifics like knife sharpness and possible cross contaminants, and how long the meat is drain of blood etc.

    I would think you would have to know what exactly constitutes a proper slaughter for an animal to be kosher (e.g. the person doing the slaughtering/the utensil/etc.), as well as the processes performed after the actual slaughter such as checking the animal for wounds/salting etc. etc. before you can compare it to another religion's practices. That would come from study/asking a rabbinic authority who is very knowledgeable about this particular topic.

    For the Muslims it's not even an issue that we have to debate on because in the Quran it was made perfectly clear; Muslims are allowed to eat Jew's meat and even Christian meat (If those christians believe in the unicity of God, so no trinity involved). By allowing Muslims to eat kosher jewish meat it clearly puts a stand on how Islam is open to others

    @twinnumber3 I personally will eat Halal meat because I think it's holier than non-kosher/non-halal meat. In fact, a muslim-owned med grill near my apartment is catering my wedding. But I am generally a vegetarian. I only started eating meat again because my fiance is out of town and I can get away with it...hahaha.

    I know this video is old. I am a Torah Observant NonTrinitarian Christian. I will eat Halal meat. I dont consider Allah an idol, but another “title” if you will of HaShem! The Divine Name was given to Moshe not the Ishmaelites. So, I equate this to just calling HaShem the One True G-d.

  • @adamjames43
    @adamjames43 12 лет назад

    Hi, my friend...I am Muslim...and I have had the same discussion with my Muslim friends the same question...and we have the same issues as you...Some say halal is not a kosher...and they aren't the same
    I will be honest with you....I eat kosher and I eat halal...From what my father told me Jews say a God's name before slaughter...the meat is bled...and the religious Jews only eat beef (unreligious Jews and Muslims do eat pork)...
    They are exactly the same IMHO...but I'm not a rabbi or Imam

  • @adamjames43
    @adamjames43 12 лет назад

    I am also not one who spreads hate and won't eat food because a Jewish rabbi cut it or a Muslim man cut it. I think if they are both following God's request to let the meat bleed and the animal is killed painlessly then in my eyes they are the same.
    I let the Imams and Rabbis argue over the reasons but I know when I eat Kosher...it hasn't come close to pork...when I eat halal it hasn't come close to pork...
    Shi'ite Muslims do not eat shellfish...we typically do not cook meat/dairy together

    I don't think it matters what they are saying in their prayers. They are not blessing the devil...Jews have the same God we Muslims do and if they are saying bless this meat in your name...Whether they call him Allah, Yahweh, God, etc...It is the same.
    Jews are not blessing the devil, they are not idol nor do they worship people like the Christians. You can come up with reasons it is not the same...but as the Quran says we can eat what they cook and cut. Christians...not so much bc pork

    I have question where in the old or new testament the words Judaism or Christianity mentioned ? there is no such a terms The religion sent from God to Abraham is the monotheism but the peoples misguided and failed therefore God sent to them prophet after prophet one of them the Messiah , and last messenger was Mohammad peace be upon them all , the peoples followed Jesus again misguided and they eat pork and drink alcohol , but God never changed his mind why they eat no Kosher or halal food as Abraham did ? another example the Circumcision Jesus himself Circumcised when he was 8 days therefor they are paulism because they follow paul teaching and left the right message delivered by Jesus , you peoples lost the right way the monotheism is the religion and only religion God the creator request us to follow and worship him alone

      Kaleb Malanin It is He the Lord who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion. And sufficient is Allah as Witness.
      48:29
      Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking bounty from Allah and [His] pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers - so that Allah may enrage by them the disbelievers. Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward.

    God in islam and Jewish are both same. God that worshipped by Adam, Noah, Abraham Jacob, Moses and other prophets. God is the one that "lam yalid wa lam yulad" (dont have a father nor son), nothing can be compared to god. In Islam God's called Allah, in jewish God's name called Yahweh. Both Islam and Jews can't accept christian concept of God in Trinity.
