Hi, this video is fantastic. I have found that the Samsung ProPlus 128 struggles to hold 4k video for long periods of time. I want to use my pocket 3 as a podcast camera and would love to capture 20-30min video without my pocket freezing or locking up. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hello the samsung and sandisk card showing any toggle that this card is slow or something while recording im 4k 120 or 60?? Please reply... And also please tell what's the actual WRITE speed ...it is mentioned 130...is it really?
I did not test the actual write speed, but it is not relevant for real-time video recording. Even if the card can write (files!) at 100+ Mbps, doesn't guarantee that it can consistently write (streaming video) at 30+ Mbps. That's what the V30 rating is for.
Based on this test, I would feel most confident with the Sandisk, Samsung or Lexar. The card should be formatted in ExFat, but most importantly, format it in the camera.

I think the Evo Plus is more aimed at games/apps, where sequential write speed is not as important. As long as they are V30 rated, they should work, but the “PRO” series is better suited for recording 4K video.

I would definitely recommend multiple cards, instead of one large card (as explained in the video). I don’t see any issue with mixing sizes/ brands - just make sure to format them in the camera first.

Recording at 60fps does NOT increase image quality. There are 2 main reasons to shoot in 60fps: 1. To slow down in post-processing, to create a smoother, more cinematic look, or 2. many people consider that 60fps creates a more natural motion. For most RUclips video, I would think that 30fps is the correct choice.

Hi, i recently bought osmo pocket 3 and am now looking for a SD card for it. I saw the Homan UHS-II SD Card V60 (128gb) was on sale and planning to get it. Will it be good enough for my osmo? How did you measure the actual bit rates? Did the files differ in size? It doesnt make sense that the bitrate would differ so much, card-to-card. Seems like the camera would dictate the file size/bit rate, not the card.
Buy the Sandish Extreme 256gb. My settings are 4K/60 and the camera says it is very slow and after two minutes it stops recording. I bought that one thinking it was the best and it's failing me. What do you recommend me?
Yes, up to 1TB should work fine, but frankly I would recommend 2 512GB cards, for the reasons I mention in the video (and it is less expensive). I have had good experience with Lexar, SanDisk and Samsung (see links below): Lexar: amzn.to/46Mjhw3 SanDisk: amzn.to/4dmJ9kj Samsung: amzn.to/3Al1qA2
The one I tested is the Kingston Go Plus, but my personal preference would be SanDisk Extreme or Lexar Silver. I put links to all the cards in the video description, and if you follow it, you should be able to select whatever size you want.
Formatting ensures that the card has the correct file system and creates a basic folder structure for file storage. It’s always best to do this through the camera’s setup menu.
SanDisk ExtremePlus does NOT work with Osmo pocket 3. I bought the identical card just ExtremePlus & it was not compatible. It was all that was available that day so I will return.
Interesting baseline info with stationary video... but more interesting would be at least one real world test with a *panning camera* since that is what creates the most I/O stress. Even a camera simply moving forward (like walking or driving while filming forward) is less taxing than panning, because a significant portion of the screen is often still more or less stationary. Evaluating file sizes and overall VISUAL performance when panning would have been the icing on the cake here. I say this because for me, the Osmo Pocket 3 exhibits hideous visual frame jerking as I pan, and I haven’t isolated why yet.
I am curious why would SanDisk Extreme Pro with a V30 speed advertised the write speed of 140MB/s Write. Would that be a V90? The description reads SanDisk 256GB Extreme PRO® microSD™ UHS-I Card with Adapter C10, U3, V30, A2, 200MB/s Read 140MB/s Write SDSQXCD-256G-GN6MA

What's the difference between sandisk extreme and sandisk extreme pro? Is there a real difference between the two for the insta360 x4?
In theory, the "Pro" should be a little faster, but you would only see a difference when transferring files off the card on a high-speed card reader.

That was one of the cards I tested, and it performed just fine, although the read-speed was a little lower than claimed.

Apparently, Lexar updated the silver series. I am in the process of testing the updated version (amzn.to/4fMXibD) - looks good so far.
Does it matter if i buy an A1 or A2 as in the description of the sd card?
Technically this makes no difference for video, but in general, an A2 card is overall faster than an A1.

I have had the most experience with the Lexar and I am happy with the performance, but I cannot say for sure that it’s better than the others.
