Fishing The Method Feeder and Zigs at Partridge Lakes Holbar | Fishery Reviews

  • Welcome back to another fishery review! It's been a few weeks since my last fishery review, this week we are at Partridge lakes in Warrington. I have been putting off doing a review on partridge lakes as it's a fishery that's well known and well documented already.
    However the requests for us to fish partridge have been mounting. It's a fishery I know well and used to fish often, but haven't fished it in a couple of years.
    It was a really hot day and some of the carp were potentially spawning or getting ready to do so. So I set out with my usual method feeder tactics using #Aquastim 2mm pellets but with the option there to transform the method into zigs rigs if the carp started cruising.

    Beaten up mouths generally caused by using silly test curve rods, fish are dragged in pulled through the reeds ahhh it’s so disappointing and you see it so often ,,, people need educating and it’s people like you guys setting a great example using softer rods and actually playing the fish… massive thumbs up👍

      I agree, this is the only think that can cause damage like this! Someone mentioned that they should probably not call it a specimen lake, but I think the name allows them to charge more I guess 😂🎣

    I think it was the band’um wafters that floated, the ones I discard and throw into the water do float but good tip in that a size 12 or bigger holds it down!

    • @stevemccann4166
      @stevemccann4166 11 месяцев назад

      6mm wafters should be 16s and 8mm should be 14s and so on so they waft and not float. Also depends on type of hook too.

    Hi Westy, lovely video, as usual, I'm enjoying all of your content, keep them up. Just have a question regarding a reliable reel suitable for mid-sized carp, it seems I'm not having a very successful rate landing them, so I'm thinking of replacing my reel, any recommendations for bait runner reels will be much appreciated.

    • @WestysAngling
      @WestysAngling  Год назад +1

      Keep losing fish as in your line breaks ? I have been using Daiwa regal reels for feeder fishing I’m impressed by them 👌🏻💪🏻

    • @bakr35
      @bakr35 Год назад

      I'm using a ready-tied Guru hair rig with band, size 12 hook and a 40gm method feeder, my mainline is a 12lb Daiwa sensor. I used 10 mm wafter before but now switched to 8mm.

    • @bakr35
      @bakr35 Год назад

      @@WestysAngling the line doesn't break but the carps release themselves after fighting hard and I end up either losing the wafters or the hairline rig cut, I was able to land tenches that fight well but not the carps.

    Really enjoyed your video , just my opinion but maybe Holbar1 should change from specimen lake to match/pleasure lake , think people hear the word specimen and out come the 3lb plus rods and size 4 hooks , but there seems to be a good stock
    of smaller fish , more suited to tip fishing, I’m not at all against big carp fishing , but to many kids start with two rods and alarms now and could be cause of 95% of mouth damage , just my opinion and I’m probably wrong 😑, but for a beautiful looking fishery it’s a shame that most of the fish are damaged, but great review as always 😊🎣

    • @WestysAngling
      @WestysAngling  Год назад +1

      Well said ! I agree with this, you definitely don’t need all that gear on that lake you are fine with the feeder rods and wafters. The big hooks and heavy gear are potentially doing the damage. You are probably right Chris, you hook a fish on heavy tackle it goes into the reeds and you yank it out, it’s going to cause damage like that. No other way I can think of would have caused that. Thanks buddy, tight lines and take care 🎣
