This is actually a great way of describing both versions, I love this
Just wanted to add to this that the videos mirror that difference as well! The original song's video is red and yellow, which are psychological hunger colors, while red by itself is more indicative of blood/fear/horror. Sick remix!!

when i was super obsessed with the original, i didnt really like this one all that much. but since then its really grown on me! i think it was just so significantly different to what i had grown used to lol (to be clear, used to not like this, but now i do :3)

Using cannibalism as a metaphor or allusion is great for conveying difficult themes or experiences in an interesting and artistic way. It also makes it more *digestible* for the listeners since dark themes are usually hard to listen to so having that makes it easier to listen to. Vocaloid songs often delve into dark themes, (Think of Kitsune no Yomeiri by Masa and Gomene Gomene by Kikou) with cannibalism as a metaphor to make it easier to take in. Canabilism can also portray certain emotions such as lust and obsession, on top of the dark themes, so it leaves songs open to the listener's interpretation.
Like this song, Butcher's Vanity, the majority of viewers I see express that it expresses obsessive love or just gluttony, though with certain phrasing and use of words it can be interpreted of a...more dark theme (R###)
