I caught my first perch today! 2 tiddlers and a 50cm Pike! Lost 3 other pikes as the hook was so small. Wasn’t after Pike but hey, ho! 😂

Good to see you both back. Had three blanks recently without even seeing a fish, let alone hooking one. The rod is away for a while now while they do their thing. I walk down my stretch with my little lad in his pushchair this week while he has a kip and there is an absolute beauty cruising down the middle of the canal. Could have sworn it was smiling at me, as well!

Pike do not have the dentition of pelagic predators such as king mackerel or Pacific king mackerel, which do, have real ''shears'' (in pike, the teeth are very wide apart). So stop talking nonsense as big as you...Steel is NOT systematic, you just have to know how to adapt, that's all.

wicked video lads, can you tell me what rig your using (newbie)
We’re light lure fishing so we are using a small 2-10 gram jig head mainly with a small 5cm shad. Followed by a 2-3 ft length of 7lb fluro carbon leader onto some 9lb braid! Hope this helps.
On Tom's last pike was that mainline straight to snap swivel instead of a wire trace or fluro?

Hey guys.... Quick question. Do you use wire trace when using these small lures? I bought some soft lures jigs and use a wire trace as there are lots of pile around where I live. Not been catching though so wonder if it's just poor technique or if the wire trace is negatively impacting on the lure?

We use fluorocarbon leader. Have a go at it. I've caught pike on it.. as long as you play them delicately you'll be fine
