He totally skips over talking about the USBC port
Any chance we can get the 57in from Samsung done? I'm curious what you all think
Can I borrow it next
This channel and we as viewers really need to stop enabling Plouffe's addiction
We saw his house during the intel extreme upgrade shoot. If we don't feed his addiction, he'll just find another one.
@@mvpersonasTragic 😔
I wonder what was his gateway hobby
we should... but we won't
Did you know he owns a monitor?
Better this then another crazy $$ keyboard
problem with super ultrawide monitors is that loading progress bars become longer so the games take longer to load
That's my favorite part of the Steam Deck, games load so much faster on a 7" screen!
Ironically the size of the monitor could actually affect load times somewhat (might have to load more assets to fit the wider screen) especially if there's also a difference in resolution.
Lmao
hhhmmm no. they are scaled
@@urkent4463You don't have to explain the joke
Haven’t watched the full video yet but expect Plouffe to mention that he owns an Alienware monitor at some point in the video.
He's a certified display owner for sure
4:30 I've been using G9 for almost 3 years and I'm not placing two 16:9 windows next to each other, no sir: the BEST layout for 32:9 is one 16:9 window dead center, and two 8:9 windows on the each side of it. You really can't go back from that.
Totally agree. Fancy Zones (from Microsoft Power Toys) makes this as easy to do as possible. For productivity, 32:9 is not "just two screens side-by-side". It's way more flexible: you can have your focus in the middle, have two things side-by-side, split to thirds, fourths or span the whole thing - all that with a single click.
Fancy Zones + Display fusion for multiple windows bars
this is genius, stealing this
1:35
I think people were complaining about the foam scratching the display just on the alienware monitors, since they initially didn't have the protective peel at all and the foam was scratching up the screen directly.
heard they finally fixed that... How it took them till the 32 inch and 27 inch OLEDs to fix this issue is insane. Nvm them actually sending them out still with those issues... You have to get lucky and get a newer model
@@lilpain1997 And what's crazier to me is some people have to do the RMA dance multiple times because Dell keeps sending refurbished units with scratches lol. And if they're refurbished that means they've been inspected, then still boxed it up to ship anyway.
@@lilpain1997 alienware is a joke, its nice they're the only other competing high tier monitor brand but combined with the weird ass aesthetic and their typical quality control issues I don't understand why people buy from them at all.
@@mr_sn4k3s because they have the best price to performance overall and the monitors look fine???
I'd actually want a strange but triple monitor pbp mode. Like 16:9 in the middle and 2 8:9 on each side. So you can game in the middle
Can confirm, It's the best layout
I'm doing that with three monitors but with 9:16 on the sides. I wouldn't mind if they were a little bit wider though.
why would you ever want to game on a 16:9 when 21:9 is the best middle ground?
Samsung Odyssey G9 allows this with dual picture in picture, but its not an OLED...it's mini led and can go to 7680x2160 at 120hz or 5120x1440 at 240hz
@@ArnoldsKtm specifically if you're gaming on a console. I'll stream using a capture card and obs. I also play on PC also so don't gimme the mustard race crap. I play on everything. But I want the best experience for all my systems.
Me writing my program in 1 single line across the screen :)
psycho behavior
I think I would want one big zone in the middle and 2 smaller on the sides for this setup.
Yep that's the move. I picked up the LG49WQ95C recently and I usually have my main window (basically a 16:9 27 inch screen) in the middle, then spotify to the left and discord to the right.
The robot on that box just screams "We have Ultrakill at home."
SUGGESTION:
when such a monitor offer two inputs to display simultaneously, please test that feature thoroughly:
- what happens if one signal is hdr and the other isn't
- if both signals havve different refhresh rates or different resolutions
say both signals are HDR 144 , is the display seemlessly displaying the two inputs, or does the dual input infere on latency, qualit of the display , etc etc..
this monitor can do two 16/9 bezel-free inputs which will be the appeal for a lot of potential buyers
"this is ltt, we're not even gonna test that"
at east fort once you were blatently honest: LTT doesn't do indepth testing, LTT just challenges what the manufacturers puts on their boxes/specsheets. (which is a good place to start)
This would be something that Tim at Monitors Unboxed would be more interested in, so maybe pitch it to him.
I am a little triggered by the monitor height- it looks like if you are sitting up straight, your eyes will be at the top of the monitor, rather than about 1/3 of the way down. - as someone who has been through a lot of pain and discomfort from long term bad ergonomics, you may want to consider raising the monitor up some, and also sitting straighter.
Thanks for the tip. I thought your eyes were supposed to be level with the top of the monitor, but I'll try 1/3 down from the top.
9:23 Nah, that is very noticable. I notice stuff like that all the time. If it looks a tiny bit bright, I will notice. I play a lot of horror games, so HDR accuracy is pretty important to me.
Another example of Plouffe completely ignoring the downsides of a device to keep the corpos happy. His last video was even worse for this.
@@aleksjenner677 This channel is nothing but an advertisement channel. All of LTT is as well.
Gotta wait for actual and proper reviews RTINGS, TFTCentral, etc to know the goods and bads.
that’s why hardware unboxed monitor reviews are the standard and these videos are just an “impression”. more entertainment value than actual facts
Some serious hate in the replies here. He has to be somewhat positive and energetic but he straight up said that if someone is sensitive to HDR accuracy, especially for something like a horror game then this isn't the right choice. He also straight up mentioned another monitor. If he was trying to keep corpos happy (if this was a sponsored video and not a review) then he wouldn't be able to take the piss at all (mentioning other monitors, mentioning weak points, sponsors don't like that stuff).
@@aleksjenner677 he literally said that ordinary people might not notice it, but for the discerning eyes, it might be a deal breaker. So yeah, if you need those color accuracy, buying it is a waste of money.
I love my 49" ultrawide for web development. I use display fusion to split the display and have 1/3rd for previewing the website simulating a small laptop screen, and 2/3rds for the code, meaning I can see long lines without having to horizontal scroll.
When I do game on it, it's great for immersion too.
Hi! Love the video. Could you guys cover the text clarity for these OLEDs? I think that is a weak spot for these "1440" OLEDS and the widescreens would commonly be used for productivity.
Is it worse than the 32:9 VA panels?
Doom was originally 3 monitor 12:3 ratio, so thats not even quite wide enough lmao
4:45 I would love to see someone using this in class
Can you do PBP with 16:9 in the middle and 8:9 on both sides?
Most likely it's not. I'm using g9 with powertoys for this. Works only with windows though, not fullscreen apps
no
@@P1XeLIsNotALittleSquare do you happen to know if there are any on the market that do this? Its my only reason for not converting from a dual 1440p setup to something like this. The Idea that id have to be looking off to the side is a deal breaker and id rather have two 8:9's on the side for chat/etc.
I'm curious too, but I'd personally want a 24:9 and an 8:9 on one side.
@@jeremiahsmith5900 My Mother has a 49" screen which can do 1 21:9 and a 11:9(?) beside it, she still uses it with two 16:9 side by side but every time I hook up my laptop I change it... it is pretty sweet... personally I think the 21:9 is the perferct ratio for gaming and work
All that screen real estate must be fantastic for gaming or multitasking.
The G9 is on sale now for the same price almost everywhere, just picked one up this weekend!
TEAM UP. FIGHT ON!
0:34 oh that's easy. use it as part of a multi-box table setup. Yes, my unopened boxes is what my laptop's sitting on.
I definitely have micro scratching on my AW3423DW. The only reason I didn’t return it was because I didn’t think I would get any better luck with another try.
It looked like smudges from handling, but when I tried to wipe the screen down with a micro fiber cloth, they were still there. I very lightly dragged my finger nail across the screen and verified that they were indeed scratches.
In the long term, I only notice them when I’m cleaning my monitor, but it still sucks to spend that kind of money on a product for it to arrive damaged because of poor packaging.
Glad to see OLED monitor manufacturers have started taking this kind of stuff into account
With the color calibration being more focused on reds than blues, I wonder if that was to reduce eyestrain being a gaming monitor.
When the first Dell OLED monitor came out the micro scratches were bad. I bought one from Dell and got two replacements that had them. Then went to microcenter and opened two of them in store that had the scratches. I’m assuming they resolved the issue at some point
You need to keep the box forever, if you ever plan to move it or sell it. I can't imagine trying to move it without the box.
I really wish they would talk more about the PBP mode. With the limitations of PBP I'm trying to find an ultrawide monitor that has a good refresh rate for gaming in PBP mode.
That box is huge. Wow.
I have the G9 and can say that if you're looking for a really good, 32:9, OLED monitor, it is 100% worth waiting for it to go on sale. only thing about the G series OLEDs is that they can be a bit finicky when it comes to getting them set up properly, similarly to how you had to change an arbitrary setting to get peak brightness for this AORUS, you have to do the same for the G series.
And if you can find it, get the one that doesn't have the smart technology built into it. It's cheaper, and all of the smart tech in my G9 has done nothing but frustrate me and make, and it adds nothing to the monitor except for let me change settings with a remote control rather than a built in joystick.
I bought the OLED G9. I purchased one with that sale price, but the monitor did not start and I had to return it. I bought another G9 hoping that worked. Again, that monitor did not work and I had to return it. I eventually decided I had it with the Samsung. Yes, the were $300 less. But I went with the Asus 49 OLED. I got tired of ordering, waiting for the monitor to arrive, setting it up, trying to get it to work, then packing everything back up again. And since returns don't get refunded for 30 days, I still don't have my money from either of the two monitors yet. Maybe I just had a bad streak of luck, but I've purchased numerous monitors before these and never had one issue with a monitor I've purchased online. The G9, both of them were defective. That left me with wondering even if I got a G9 initially that worked, would it still work 2 weeks from now. The extra $300 was worth the peace of mind going with Asus.
What about the 57" Samsung G9 Odyssey? Seems like they haven't had the screen crack down the middle issue
I never knew some of these monitors can do picture by picture with two inputs, that's great to know!
4:36 I went for a DWQHD monitor not to have a game on one side and something else on the other side. Otherwise, I'd have bought 2 monitors. I went for DWQHD because when I work, I can have a lot of screen real estate, but when it's entertainment time, I can have the game or video centered right in front of me. With dual monitors I'd have the bezels of monitors right in front of me instead.
It's funny that the display is so wide Nicholas has to ride the chair from end to end to show the deets.
I wish they'd squeeze a little more vertical resolution. 1600 or bust.
That stand seems wholly inadequate for that behemoth lol.🤣
Would love a non-OLED version of this, QLED for sure but still not confident enough in OLED
What's it like to live in constant fear, uncertainty, and doubt?
How many years of OLED's proven reliability will be enough?
What if you bought an LCD version and it died on the 366th day?
@@tim3172 Is OLED proven at this point? Most people don't buy new monitors every couple years so if OLEDs have even a 10% chance of dying after 2 years that's still going to be a deal breaker for most people (especially considering the price). Even the one in the video only has a warranty of 3 years which sounds great on the surface but I'm still rocking LCD monitors that are far older than that and as much as I'd love the benefits of an OLED I'm not going to buy one if it's not likely to last 10+ years due to burn-in.
Is there a possibility to test ips hogh hertz monitors around 200 til 300 usdollars , a series of it. There i am waiting for.
I'd like to see this vs the LG 45 OLED. is it way wider and narrow or just slightly wider but same height. How's the overall usage vs the 45 inch LG
Why 1440p, where is the 1600p ultrawides?
I know! I think it’s disappointing, but I think companies have given up on 1600p. Even though it looks great and easier to run than 4k
I think it’s worse that it’s not even 240hz big no no for me
I've genuinely wondered why 1600p they fazed out before it could truly take off.
I‘ll keep my lg 3840x1600. Sweet spot even though it’s not oled. Bit 160Hz and pretty good SDR. For anything oled i just move the pc to my 77“ in the living room
5120x1600 at 144Hz is extremely close to the theoretical maximum bandwidth of a HDMI 2 connection iirc. Considering they never achieve 100% throughput it would need to compromise on bit depth, refresh rate, or use stream compression or something. 5120x1440 is just slightly lower but well enough within a comfortable range.
When I do replace my aging dual 27" monitors I may go single BIG display
Same here. At least for work it should be superior.
6:57 again, the picture in the middle of the super ultrawide is ultrawide, so if it were ultrawide it would be working perfectly there. holy misnomer.
Will the Aorus FO32U2P be on this channel anytime soon?
I have a question can you change how the screen is split so one can be bigger than the other?
From my understanding the 2 screens in one thing he showed is limited to 2 identical sub-screens (it's probably a hardware limitation). I've seen some comments where people used a capture card so they could just use Windows in-built window management though I'd be concerned about latency with that setup (it's not a perfect pass-through).
9:22 ¿Can't this difference be corrected or at least mitigated by configuring the monitor settings?
It's like the black equalizer is activated
Is there a vesa mount so I can stack two on top of each other?
2:45 it has a USB-C also
do they repack it to unbox it on camera?
That's what he said
I feel like 32:9 is old news.
Time to get a little more height instead.
Let’s give us more 16:10 monitors again.
If I want more with I can get 3 of them.
And while I am on wish-list anyway, let’s make it 5K and using the Dual-Mode function to switch between more resolution or higher refresh-rate.
I use multiple monitors so never missing with, but I am always missing height!
Can it do 144hz in PBP? The alienware ultrawides get all wonky (weird artifacting) if you try to force that, but using this as two 1440p panels would be awesome.
I got too used to 2160p on my monitors (need that coding space). I wonder if that's an option on another super-wide monitor?
Does anyone know if Gigabyte forces you to have the same display settings for each input source, or if there is a way to save custom display settings for each input?
I couldn't imagine using a super ultra wide, no matter how optimized for wide aspect a game is it will still enter warp speed on the sides, i'd take normal ultrawide at most
Yeah I love my ultrawide, especially b/c a lot of media perfectly fills the screen, but I'd never get a super ultrawide
A normal 21:9 Ultrawide is perfect for most use cases. The only time i'd want a Super Ultrawide is for a wrap around effect in a racing game.
I worked with a 32:9 49“ curved dispaly and as cool as it was….i didn‘t like it that much because i did a 27“-like window in the center and then the sides where just lacking in hight to be usable for more then having mail/team/discord on the side. Even a browser was to narrow but not high enough to have a decent size on the side. I personaly would prefer a 21:9 over a 32:9 at this size
As a chronic Samsung ultrawide buyer, I'm very glad to see him coming around to 32:9
Its nice that it has a KVM but the lack of USB c alt mode is a disappointment. Holding out to see the pricing on the Acer Predator before deciding to go for it, the new MSI 491CQP or Asus ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD. Need the 90watt usbc and KVM so i can easily switch between gaming PC and work laptop
Unfortunately the inaccuracy of the colors precludes this from being a contender. $1300 is a lot of money for a monitor that can't accurately display the kind of content you would buy OLED for (HDR).
The box is huge. That’s why I went with my 22” 1080p dell monitor
How's the powersupply ion the monitor? Will it explode?
I’ve got the Aorus fo48u and it’s great, but this is what I really want.
haha Dinner & Drinks has a Gas Station logo 11:38
Still waiting for a 34" 4k high refresh oled ultrawide monitor 😢
i need one of these 49" ones but with 1600p to replace my current LG 38"
indeed. 1440px height just sucks with this size. dont know why 32:10 isnt a thing.
Sad that it doesn't have two display ports to be used for PBP.
My only problem with these super ultrawides is where do I put my nice studio monitors? I barely have enough space with a normal ultrawide.
If they are a more standard 16:9 or comparable, maybe vertical orientation is for you? I did that with my old 144Hz 16:9 I replaced with an ultrawide, but if they're nice studio monitors they might not pivot to vertical and more importantly, I wouldn't blame you if you dont want to run them vertical.

The big appeal of the G9 OLED to me is the PBP mode supports 120hz refresh rate so it’s not terrible for gaming while watching RUclips/Netflix in fullscreen on the other side. If the Gigabyte only does 60hz in PBP it’s a dealbreaker. The thing I hate about my G9 is that it doesn’t stay in PBP, it resets at every bootup. But I got it for $995 brand new from Samsung so I can’t complain about the little annoyances. With the remote it is pretty quick and easy to swap modes.
Edit: checked the Gigabyte manual and it says nothing specific about the PBP options such as supported refresh rates or aspect ratios.
120 is too low, when the g9 supports 240hz. I would like at least one half to support 240
Does it support HDR in pbp?
@@tomektak1972 The G9? No it doesn’t support HDR, Freesync, really any advanced feature in PBP mode, I’ve not yet seen a monitor that does support any of those features. The Gigabyte manual seems to indicate this monitor also does not support those features in PBP.
@@radikk7874 lmao
@@ArnoldsKtm I play mostly competitive games, which don't support ultrawide. I have dual 1080p monitors, want to upgrade to OLED. If it had all features in PBP I would get one ultrawide instead of 2 separate monitors...
ultrawide reviews should be uploaded in ultra wide format
Can you set this to 2560x1440 screen on the middle and 1280x1440 on the sides? And can you have it switch to 5120x1440 automatically when in full screen (games), then back to three different screens on desktop? Or do you have to manually switch every time?
You can use Fancy Zones from Microsoft Power Toys to setup whatever layout you want. You can then snap windows to whatever combination of zones you like. And yes, a 16:9 in the middle and half/half on the sides is far superior to two windows (let alone screens) side-by-side.
1:09 that what she said
this might be it! I got a crg9 right now but didnt want to upgrade to the g9 oled because of the weight and the aggressive curve. This thing is 3kg lighter than the crg9 which is struggling with my monitor arm (and no i will not pay fking 300 bucks for an monitor arm) so it should be fine and its a bargain.. 1150 euro for an oled of this size? mine was on sale for 850!
I hated the idea of ultrawide and curved until I saw a 49" one. I'm still using it 4 years later.
please compare this against the LG45 OLED side by side

Idk why but I hate that they do the testing before the review and repackage it so they can then “unbox it” on screen
How is it compared to a 240 va 1ms?
Why do they make the hight adjustment from semi comfortable to sitting on the desk instead of making them go higher. No one used the lowest setting.
Nice video Plouffe! :)
I use this aspect ratio to have 3 regions for my windows. It's super helful.
Was that voice at the end AI?
Currently I have 38 inch wide monitor, and it's hard to use it for extended working sessions. Yes, you can stack up to three windows comfortably, but constantly moving neck is a pain, literally, and it became quite a serious issue. 49 inch? H sht... Don't want to imagine. For games, it's a blessing, playing some RTS or city builder...just not for me, not for anything other than gaming.
While I love's Plouffe's never ending quest for the best monitor, I'd like to see some more sub-500 USD monitors.
I use 2 16:9 monitors in surround mode and, aside from the massive line in the middle of my screen, I think using 32:9 is a good time.
A single 32:9 is far superior to two 16:9 just because you can put your main focus in the middle and whatever else on the sides (half + full + half, split to thirds etc.). Especially with Fancy Zones from Microsoft Power Toys.
OLED OLED OLED something else for the monitor space for panel type's. If you don't mind. The high preference towards this category is high lol. I see the trend but IPS as well VA LCD exist, there are new products available for any price point coming out later within 2024.
I've been 21:9 for a few years now with my lg 34gk950f and I want to go back to 16:9. I'm fed up of ultrawide. It's just annoying if you want to record content or share your screen with your friends, and games really aren't optimised for it.
Cheap >40" 16:9 or 3:2 (15:10) 4k 120 Hz or more "like TV" monitor panels with DPI and USB ports (no HDMI that is not patent free, and you can buy converters if needed) and no TV tuners is what is not on the market, and I think they would have a good place.
I will buy the new Xiaomi TV as monitor, because of price / performance, but I would love a model with DPI and USB with no HDMI-
