Capcom may have thought Street Fighter V was "perfected" before making 6. I think it is possible to see Virtua Fighter have a new spin in the franchise while keeping its identity. It is an important fighting series that people still play to this day.
If they want to compete, Virtua Fighter 6 is going to have to make the combos visually appealing, bring back the stage variety like in Virtua Fighter 4 and a lot of the existing characters are going to need a serious redesign. The appeal of watching fights in VF are fully dependable on the players playing the game. If they don’t know all the possibilities, regarding movement, punishment and combos, the match will be boring.
they better have a quest mode that can be played while searching for online matches. Ultimate showdown was basically unplayable for me because of that, I don't want to spend time between matches in training mode. Its the main reason why I prefer 4 evo instead of 5
@@lpvgs-817 Too many mechs isn't really the problem, but they did enhance the issue of juggles. Every character (even the heavy hunks of metal like Jack!) weighs like a feather when juggled and pro level players just abuse it like there's no tomorrow. Death combos became a thing due to this. If I look for death combos, I rather go to 2D fighting games.
I remember them talking about it last year. Sega always goes hard with Virtua Fighter and they always innovate. I wish Suzuki still worked on these games.
I love VF.. got good memories of playing the original in the arcades. They can go ahead and take my money now. A fighters megamix would be amazing too.
VF6 would be perfect right now. What separates it from other games is that it has a stronger essence of defense and technicality. Its more rewarding, i think it can flourish because all the fighting games actually stole from the VF blueprint. Tekken stole the treasure battle system, Customization and ranking system from virtua fighter!
VF6 wasn't announced as a part of the Sega revival it felt like the series was not coming back but Sega said they plan on bringing back more classic franchises. VF6 on the Dragon Engine with the entire cast getting a fresh redesign that still retains the essence of them will be what the series needs, plus a story mode that is less cinematic focus like T8 & MK1 but closer to DOA would be fine as the series story has only ever been told via the game manuals & the stakes are relatively low with a lot of the cast having established rivalries.
@@TVFGCas an alternative it's already good. Ton of Soul Calibur players left Tekken when it released. Just the same many DOA players jumped to Tekken. We have no 3D fighters that are sticking around other than Tekken for a lot of us we're only playing it because it's the only stable option.
@@Jandro1083 Nah. Competition creates emulation.. Especially when SEGA was strong back in the days. Tekken stole almost everything from SEGA. That's why Harada went to SEGA-Sammy headQuarters to find out what's going on in 2021 before Tekken 8 comes out. Come on , since VF isn't in the competitio anymore , Tekken started to stole mechanics from freaking 2D fighters..! No more innovation , it's like we're stuck in the 2000's
Put Ryo Hazuki in it as one of the new VF6 selectable characters and Lan Di as a hidden unselectable boss character. Each time you meet all the requirements to fight Lan Di you have a 1 in 8 chance lan di will show up to fight Ryo. Sorta like akuma in super Sf2 turbo. You get one chance to win no continues. All the shenmue fans might just buy it twice. That will help sales.
I feel like for VF6 just needs to add character creation (like making your own characters instead of just changing outfits) now that’s now completely necessary but definitely on my wish list. They should also add more characters, VF5 I think only has 17 or 18 characters? Adding a few more would personally give more options! I personally would love to see a new fighter using taekwondo, or other fighting styles that we haven’t seen in the VF games
Personally, I like that virtua fighter is a lot straighter-faced with how it presents itself. No doubt there needs to be some flair to it for catching eyes, but as far as the fighting is concerned, I like that everybody uses martial arts without the need for laser beam moves or superpowers. To be more grounded is something I think is more unique since every fighter is all about the crazy. Now, I do doubt that audiences will see it that way. It's not gonna kill me if virtua fighter becomes as absurd as it's contemporaries. It's already kinda off the walls with the story behind Jeffery and Duval, but I think those things stick out well because not everybody is a mutant or has a bone to pick with a massive shark. Whatever happens, I just want another virtua. Soul calibur being put on ice shows that namco can't even have competition with themselves.
I agree that it is unique standing out today in the sea of craziness. But to appeal to the masses at this point is just down to science. You want to make people interested? Make it flashy, in your face, full of dopamine hits, and exciting. That’s what will solidify VF 7. But I hope I’m wrong
0:52 This aligns with Japanese culture too because they are most of all afraif making a mistake at work. If you go to a bank in Japan and you have a questionthe teller doesn’t know he/she has to ask and have it approved by the person above them and that person has to confirm it with the person above them and the person above that person.. And the senior people do the biggest decisions and you can’t suggest your own ideas to that senior person, so if a Sega employee has a great concept for VF6 they have to hope all their senior staff all get on board the project without being pushy.
Yeah, VF characters are so lacking. I'd propose two solutions: 1. Basically make a VF vs Yakuza VF chatacters are beyond saving. Even heavy redesign would only alienate old fans than bringing new fans. But guess what one of SEGA most popular franchise has got? Yakuza characters. They're way more popular and exciting. Problem with Yakuza's characters, as beloved as they are, they're all Japanese. There's obvious lack of variety. That would bring us to the second point. 2. Let loose the customization Making characters is hard, let alone making characters that will be accepted by the audience. Bad or random characters would only hinder the game, instead of elevate it. Therefore, simply let the players custonize their own. Just let everything available for everyone. Akira's headband for Aki, Wolf's hair for Lei Fei, everything. Changeable skin color, hair color, eyes color, absolutely everything. As long as it doesn't affect gameplay just let it be used. VF was the one invented character customization anyway, may as well go wild.
I totally disagree. I think their design are great, the problem is that SEGA never explored and developed the lore, not a single bit. They are more grounded martial artists with great animations, moves and costumes/clothes. They are not stupid shonen anime characters that can headbutt a meteor or survive falling into a boiling volcano.
You do know the original Tekken is literally the leftovers of VF right? Even P Jack was originally a cut VF character. Namco only had to add, what they got from Sega.
people need to just live their lives and forget about that game altogether. And when they announce it finally, still go on with their lives, because that would still be years away. Plenty of games to play. Plenty of stuff to do. Don't waste your time on waiting for this game, it actually might never happen.
As a VF player for 17 years, I can say that there definitely should be some flair, just not anything that would ruin the technical integrity of VF’s identity. It’s difficult to even suggest something that would be widely agreed upon, because the game has been nothing but straight fighting for 30+ years. Adding any type of element to it is going to have some type of discourse/divide.
Please, please let it be like Sparking Zero, lots of character and content both single player and online, somewhat balanced at launch and minimum microtransactions
the only way for virtua fighter to compete is to go basic with the Minecraft look but make controls modern and make it really accessible to people more than ever VF currently is at it's most accesible mechnanically and it's still hard to get used to as bad as it sounds they need to dumb it even even further
New graphics engine and new characters isnt enough come on guys...really ? Sega once commented that if they are to make a new virtua fighter game it has to surpass virtua fighter 5 in everyway it has to be new and different but still keeping the core feel of a virtua fighter game that everyone can feel right at home with.and sega wont attempt such feat until time and technology has reach at a level where they can bring virtua fighter 6 up to that standard.so it makes alot of sense from their perspective.
As someone who didn't "click" with VF in until 4 evolution I can testify : It not as easy to fall in love with that something like Tekken , but when you do it's a love that'll last forever.
I'm a Virtua Fighter fan, sadly I got to know it only at 15, but I liked it way more than Tekken and DOA. A grounded 3D fighter with only pure skill and fun gameplay in mind, it's just what I need, and this is terribly lacking in the current fighting game scenery…
Sega Scared that they will try to over monetize it, when it's very simple release V5 with graphics update to PS5 with great online Netcode, some new Story, & combos as well as new costumes. As well as Some Guess Characters from Sega Games Lin Dee, Shamu, & some other Sega characters. Sega Isn't Afraid they don't want to make it even though it's so easy this decade to make games
VF gameplay is not a mess like tekken and the side step actually work without that weird tracking that tekken has. Unfortunately, the game needs new caracter designs and sound design. But please, NO "run cancel" mechanics or "rage art".
i honestly think it will. A couple years ago i would've said no way But now years later with tekken 8 launch hype completely gone. People will fall in love with VF6 and love to have another option. Now is the perfect time for VF6 and bloody roar to make a return. its a good dead zone to release a game right now.
What really pains me is that Tekken is 2 generations ahead of virtua fighter yet virtua fighter was the first 3D fighting game that came out before tekken and every other 3D fighting out there.....Sega needs to bring back Yu Sazuki to direct a virtua fighter 6 he's the only man who can reinvent the 3D martial arts fighting game much like he did before.if it's anyone to pull it off it's him.
I personally am ITCHING for the Virtua Fighter 6 announcement. I love Tekken, but VF is just the better fighting game in my opinion. It’s much more honest with still having the ability to be challenging to pro and casual players. I literally can’t wait bruh…
Compete with Tekken8? That's like asking Gran Turismo to compete against Ridge Racer. Virtua Fighter has always been the technical one. There is no competition there, beyond the exchange of blows.
Nope, it’s one of the games people talk about but most don’t play. VF6 it’ll be hot for a couple weeks but then it’ll fall off. The main selling point would be the graphics because VF5 vanilla is still a great looking game today.
If VF6 compares with Tekken 8 in any way, the developer has failed and I don't want anything to do with it. Tekken 8 is a real step down from Tekken 7, which I thought was a pretty good game with the exception of Rage Arts, which is just awful. VF is such a pure fighting system, and I really can't see how you improve on VF5 beyond add some new characters. Even that risks throwing it's balance out, and so VF6 needs to be very carefully considered. I can deal with a bad Tekken game, 8 wasn't the first one, but I don't think I could handle a bad VF game.
I don't agree with changing the VF formula just to cater to the "modern audience" i think when it comes to VF less is more it's a tribute to good ol' martial Arts what about those who prefer a more grounded down to earth authentic honest fg, it has a flavour of it's own and you don't want all fg to feel the same
Only saying that if they want to really come out and sell a game that will sell 5-10 million copies. Yea if you stay to the tried and true you should only expect what you got. VF has over 20+ million sells over its IP life. 10+ mill comes from a free to download game. So if you willing to not sell today in a time where low sales can be a death sentence, then ok
I disagree, Sega should absolutely NOT succumb to mainstream pressure by adding glitter, sparks and rainbow effects to Virtua Fighter to make it more "appealing" to a wider audience. It never has and never was based on being a comic book or filmic/anime fighter. We don't need mainstream appeal, screw mainstream appeal, that's where artistry nearly always goes to die. The thing that made Virtua Fighter great was precisely its realism and just being raw martial arts. The only thing Sega need to do for this long long awaited entry is:- - Give us some new moves - Update character models drastically to reflect age and evolution - Work on a proper story mode *This in my opinion is the only thing that has held the franchise back - Reclaim the status of bringing the best and most ground breaking visual fidelity not yet seen in a 3D fighter. - Get the sound and music team on this like clockwork, the soundtrack has not been good since Virtua Fighter 3 in my opinion - Keep the system relatively similar to Virtua Fighter 5 FS - Bring back environmental terrain variation like Virtua Fighter 3 and add environmental interaction/damage. - Bring back dynamic camera angles like VF3, I absolutely cannot stand bland fixed left and right camera panning for fighting games. At least do a zoom in and out like SNK games or something to give the game a more alive feel. Get all that done and Sega are away to the races.
@@TVFGC Why are we even talking about a VF7 when we haven't even got a VF6 yet? The thing is, I don't care too much for sequels unless the technology has moved on significantly enough to give you a game that blows away its predecessor. In terms of visuals, we've kinda hit Moors Law already. Unreal Engine 6 is basically looking like real life now, you can't get anymore eye dropping and realistic visuals wise than what we have now, so the focus shouldn't all be on that first and foremost, VF is guaranteed to look pretty. I have always been for making a super game you can fire up 10 or 20 years later and not needing sequels or remasters. Sega just need to create a sick fighter, end of. Forget visuals, focus on the game being the best fighter in terms of mechanics and innovations.
Some changes to the game play are needed it feels so stiff and needs endings more fluid combos I still love the game and tekken was really a copy of vf to begain with but I don’t think it compares to tekken now
Nah nah nah.. It's like people who think KOF is slow and stiff because they can't short hop.. 🤦♂ Just learn how to play the game. Just look at high level matches.. 🤷♂ The game is way faster than Tekken! Sure it's harder , it's not easy but it doesn't need to change the gameplay, no. Like KOF doesn't need to play like Smahs to be less stiff , VF doesn't need to change . Learn that you can't back dash twice in row super fast (except if you cancel by up or down , then back dash anytime you want as fast as you want..) But it's not safe as Tekken . Better option is to step and dash or crouch dash cancel. Like in a real boxing match. That's it. Most People's brain just can't learn new stuf or play several games. And nothing wrong with that , but then shitting on a game they don't understand is tiring. Exclusive players are tiring. Fighting games are amazing , play em all..! ❤❤
VF5 was good but Dead or Alive since DoA2 was always the most advanced fighting game. You can easily play every character without learning everyone seperate and there is no such juggle bs like in Tekken! That means no such annoying opponents or unfair playstyle where you cant do anything against… DoA had also better graphics, Stages and big variety of outfits. Something Harada saying for Tekken everything is sooooo „Expensive“. Some bs excuse! 😡 other games like SF do some things better or like DoA had such things years ago. Its like Tekken now has the best graphics but do the other things worse than SF6 or past DoA games and complaining about costs were for the other games they weirdly had not such issues. 🤨
@@TVFGC being more easier to pick up and play. The music from vf2 surpasses anything i heard in Tekken. There is alot more to list. @TVFGC i doubt it. Only older players will be into it. To attract younger players, the game can't be anything close to an old-school competitive fighter. If you think about it, every successful fighting game has made their version of dragonball fighterz. It's the only play style that's a median between new school rushdown way mechanics and leftover old school mechanics like guessing properly and reading your opponent. Every fighter now has their version of a dragon rush / running rushing n mechanic A blowback attack that's reversible A situation with meter that allows for over 50% damage combos. Access to autocombos or an easy mode. Implementing any of that would kill the essence of what virtua fighter is.

The appeal of watching fights in VF are fully dependable on the players playing the game. If they don’t know all the possibilities, regarding movement, punishment and combos, the match will be boring.
This🎯
they better have a quest mode that can be played while searching for online matches. Ultimate showdown was basically unplayable for me because of that, I don't want to spend time between matches in training mode. Its the main reason why I prefer 4 evo instead of 5
We hoping 🙌
Gives us more 3D fighters in general. T8 pretty much killed tekken for me
I agree to many bs mechanics defense isn't even a thing anymore etc.
T8 is the first Tekken I've passed, but I'd definitely get me a vf6
@@lpvgs-817 Too many mechs isn't really the problem, but they did enhance the issue of juggles. Every character (even the heavy hunks of metal like Jack!) weighs like a feather when juggled and pro level players just abuse it like there's no tomorrow. Death combos became a thing due to this. If I look for death combos, I rather go to 2D fighting games.
If it is coming to Steam, it will be HUGE! The Virtua Fighter we have on Steam is the Sega Genesis VF2 which is total garbage.
Last VF said to had 10 million downloads
Yes, we want Virtua Fighter 6
The scene needs it
Make it more smooth like how DOA5 was not exactly like that but a bit. Some nice lore and more characters and boom
did anyone else get that survey Sega sent out some months ago? All they talked about was VF6 so it's definitely coming.
Didn’t see that
I remember them talking about it last year. Sega always goes hard with Virtua Fighter and they always innovate. I wish Suzuki still worked on these games.
I love VF.. got good memories of playing the original in the arcades. They can go ahead and take my money now. A fighters megamix would be amazing too.
You loyal 🫡
VF6 would be perfect right now. What separates it from other games is that it has a stronger essence of defense and technicality. Its more rewarding, i think it can flourish because all the fighting games actually stole from the VF blueprint. Tekken stole the treasure battle system, Customization and ranking system from virtua fighter!
3D needs something
Watch nobody hardly play it 😂 yall in for disappointment
@@Brandonweifu vf got a huge fan base they wouldnt have made 5 virtua fighters if there was no demand to play it
@mibbzx1493 and yet it's tiny compared to all the others lol if it meant anything they would still be relevant
@@mibbzx1493 vf was a decade ago pops
VF6 wasn't announced as a part of the Sega revival it felt like the series was not coming back but Sega said they plan on bringing back more classic franchises.
VF6 on the Dragon Engine with the entire cast getting a fresh redesign that still retains the essence of them will be what the series needs, plus a story mode that is less cinematic focus like T8 & MK1 but closer to DOA would be fine as the series story has only ever been told via the game manuals & the stakes are relatively low with a lot of the cast having established rivalries.
it doesn't need to compete, all it needs is to coexist.
You think coexisting doesn’t automatically make competition?
@@TVFGCas an alternative it's already good. Ton of Soul Calibur players left Tekken when it released. Just the same many DOA players jumped to Tekken. We have no 3D fighters that are sticking around other than Tekken for a lot of us we're only playing it because it's the only stable option.
@@TVFGC competing is knocking down the opposition and getting rid of it
@@Jandro1083 Nah.
@@michaelromeo9567 yup, no innovation. Just adding what the next fighter has.
You’ve thought about this very in depth huh
What about virtual ON? I wouldn't mind playing that
"VIRTUA"
i love vf5 I think they should just make VF sega all stars basic add yakuza cast to the game, add alien to the game.
Alien? Lol
@@TVFGC from the movie franchise
I feel like for VF6 just needs to add character creation (like making your own characters instead of just changing outfits) now that’s now completely necessary but definitely on my wish list. They should also add more characters, VF5 I think only has 17 or 18 characters? Adding a few more would personally give more options! I personally would love to see a new fighter using taekwondo, or other fighting styles that we haven’t seen in the VF games
Taekwondo, Wing Chun, or an actual boxer would be so sick to see.
Didn’t know. Thanks for info
Virtua Fighter has potential to come back but the game needs something to wow new audiences to play it
This is exactly my thoughts
No, VF is good but the characters aren’t as well designed as Tekken.
If VF6 does bad, then this will be the end of the franchise
Definitely especially in todays gaming climate
The franchise is already dead.
Yeah, VF characters are so lacking. I'd propose two solutions:
1. Basically make a VF vs Yakuza
VF chatacters are beyond saving.
2. Let loose the customization
Making characters is hard, let alone making characters that will be accepted by the audience.
I hope it looks real like real like Tekken. But the martial arts style is what makes VF what it is
True. Keep it but just add some things.
I totally agree with this
Please, please let it be like Sparking Zero, lots of character and content both single player and online, somewhat balanced at launch and minimum microtransactions
Not a traditional 3D. Won’t do anything in the FGC
Obviously that number 6 meant Sonic 6 because after that came out we got a new Sonic game😂
the only way for virtua fighter to compete is to go basic with the Minecraft look
but make controls modern and make it really accessible to people more than ever
VF currently is at it's most accesible mechnanically and it's still hard to get used to
as bad as it sounds they need to dumb it even even further
New graphics engine and new characters isnt enough come on guys...really ? Sega once commented that if they are to make a new virtua fighter game it has to surpass virtua fighter 5 in everyway it has to be new and different but still keeping the core feel of a virtua fighter game that everyone can feel right at home with.and sega wont attempt such feat until time and technology has reach at a level where they can bring virtua fighter 6 up to that standard.so it makes alot of sense from their perspective.
As someone who didn't "click" with VF in until 4 evolution I can testify :
It not as easy to fall in love with that something like Tekken , but when you do it's a love that'll last forever.
Thanks for honesty
How about when virtua fighter fighters came onto DOA5?! That’s the best game lol. I still fight online as Pai, Sarah, and Jacky!!
I'm a Virtua Fighter fan, sadly I got to know it only at 15, but I liked it way more than Tekken and DOA. A grounded 3D fighter with only pure skill and fun gameplay in mind, it's just what I need, and this is terribly lacking in the current fighting game scenery…
they need to come back
the signs are seeming positive
Well they have the Graphics Engine of Yakuza The Man Who Ereased his Name at their Hand the Best Engine Sega Ever had.
If that’s the case if looking at the landscape of the scene isn’t good enough, then just flat out ask the scene what they want lol
@@TVFGC yo it's so easy man, these game studios rely on the fact that most people don't know how to make video games so they overpriced everything
Depends on if it has stupid 100% damage juggle combos or not…
VF gameplay is not a mess like tekken and the side step actually work without that weird tracking that tekken has. Unfortunately, the game needs new caracter designs and sound design. But please, NO "run cancel" mechanics or "rage art".
Definitely need a interesting character
i honestly think it will. A couple years ago i would've said no way
But now years later with tekken 8 launch hype completely gone. People will fall in love with VF6 and love to have another option.
Now is the perfect time for VF6 and bloody roar to make a return. its a good dead zone to release a game right now.
yea just the fact its the only other 3D fighter will have a lot of eyes on it
What really pains me is that Tekken is 2 generations ahead of virtua fighter yet virtua fighter was the first 3D fighting game that came out before tekken and every other 3D fighting out there.....Sega needs to bring back Yu Sazuki to direct a virtua fighter 6 he's the only man who can reinvent the 3D martial arts fighting game much like he did before.if it's anyone to pull it off it's him.
It is coming Why else would they Remaster Virtua Fighter 5 for the PS 5 ?
Signs are pointing that way
Hasn't Sega learned from their mistakes 😩
I personally am ITCHING for the Virtua Fighter 6 announcement. I love Tekken, but VF is just the better fighting game in my opinion. It’s much more honest with still having the ability to be challenging to pro and casual players. I literally can’t wait bruh…
You should be getting that itch scratched soon hopefully
Compete with Tekken8? That's like asking Gran Turismo to compete against Ridge Racer. Virtua Fighter has always been the technical one. There is no competition there, beyond the exchange of blows.
They can't go traditional anymore. They have to bring some edge to the game.
Hope they do.
Nope, it’s one of the games people talk about but most don’t play.
VF6 it’ll be hot for a couple weeks but then it’ll fall off. The main selling point would be the graphics because VF5 vanilla is still a great looking game today.
I feel your first sentence is 3D games in general
If VF6 compares with Tekken 8 in any way, the developer has failed and I don't want anything to do with it.
Tekken 8 is a real step down from Tekken 7, which I thought was a pretty good game with the exception of Rage Arts, which is just awful.
VF is such a pure fighting system, and I really can't see how you improve on VF5 beyond add some new characters. Even that risks throwing it's balance out, and so VF6 needs to be very carefully considered.
I can deal with a bad Tekken game, 8 wasn't the first one, but I don't think I could handle a bad VF game.
Correction Guilty Gear X3 is a anime fighter but Guilty Gear strive is not an anime fighter😂
The entire guilty gear series is.
No... virtual fighter shouldn't change its realistic fighting.
Virtual Fighter isn't it. It's like a stiff 3d version of MK. They need to change the physics and button layout.
The only thing Sega need to do for this long long awaited entry is:-
- Give us some new moves
- Update character models drastically to reflect age and evolution
- Work on a proper story mode *This in my opinion is the only thing that has held the franchise back
- Reclaim the status of bringing the best and most ground breaking visual fidelity not yet seen in a 3D fighter.
- Get the sound and music team on this like clockwork, the soundtrack has not been good since Virtua Fighter 3 in my opinion
- Keep the system relatively similar to Virtua Fighter 5 FS
- Bring back environmental terrain variation like Virtua Fighter 3 and add environmental interaction/damage.
- Bring back dynamic camera angles like VF3, I absolutely cannot stand bland fixed left and right camera panning for fighting games. At least do a zoom in and out like SNK games or something to give the game a more alive feel.
Get all that done and Sega are away to the races.
That’s sounds good for the FGC. But is that enough for it to massively sell for us to get a VF7? Or does that not matter?
Well... Until VF6 vome out, they could port VF5 to PC. I'd take Final Showdown if Sony can't part with UC.
Ultimate showdown is on steam

Nah nah nah.. It's like people who think KOF is slow and stiff because they can't short hop.. 🤦♂
Just learn how to play the game.
That's it.

Tekken mostly catching flak for things not gameplay but it does need comp
I don't want a new vf6. Is just gonna be dumbed down and have ridiculous comeback mechanics 🤢
It might sell tho
@TVFGC i doubt it. Only older players will be into it. To attract younger players, the game can't be anything close to an old-school competitive fighter. If you think about it, every successful fighting game has made their version of dragonball fighterz. It's the only play style that's a median between new school rushdown way mechanics and leftover old school mechanics like guessing properly and reading your opponent.
Every fighter now has their version of a dragon rush / running rushing n mechanic
A blowback attack that's reversible
A situation with meter that allows for over 50% damage combos.
Access to autocombos or an easy mode.
Implementing any of that would kill the essence of what virtua fighter is.
