In terms of SA manufactured standalone Ecu's I only use Powermods, can control a direct injection motor and a host of other things to boot.
And Powermods back up support is outstanding.
Look at a PM600, no other SA standalone ecu can compare.
Also, climbing in a car in 10 degree cold and it starts instantly and follows the warm up cycle exactly like the factory ecu and it performs like it should, you would never guess the car had a standalone ecu installed.
    Those are big plus points.
    Powermods for me thanks.

Hard to compare tow vehicles to sports cars…
We basically talking about performance, correct?
Dictator , spitronics, blue arc etc def entry level is good for a golf 8v or Opel Corsa
If you got a 1jz 2jz rb25 sr20 ej20 etc why would you want a entry level Ecu that only does fuel and spark
Trusting a 50k-150k engine on a Ecu “the brains” that cost 5k
I say this with no disrespect to any Ecu out there but if you planning on running a modified engine , turbo/supercharger/high comp itbs then do yourself a favour, get the haltech / link / Ecu master - SAFETY FEATURES SAVE ENGINES (oil pressure/knock/fuel pressure/air temp/closed loop/flex fuel etc)

    1 to 12 cylinders.
Trigger Inputs - can be hall or inductive, all in one unit. All selectable on the BlueArc Ecu software

    Auxiliary Rev Limiter (Launch control)
Cut spark or cut fuel or both. Enrichment and timing retard on request. Also has a variable trim Function Rpm can be adjusted via a trim pot.
Auxiliary Rev Limiter (Semi-launch control) Minimize wheel spin. Boost on gear shifting (Flat Shifting).
    Overheat cutout and warning Buzzer
Engine Cut on Hot Water Temperature.
Compensation Maps - Individual maps for adding fuel and timing on :
    Battery voltage
    Water temp
    Air Temp
    Aux Temp
Altitude - Build in Barometric pressure sensor.
Electronic Boost Controller - (Standard 4 Bar map sensor -1 to 3 Bar maximum boost) Optional Trim pot if configured for adjustable boost level.

Yeah.. Deactivating the immobilizer for engine swap purposes is a big hassle on some ecus tho. On my 95' mercedes W202 C280 noone has yet to program the immo out of the ecu. It can be done only with an emulator and mercedes diagnostic equipment which costs more than 1000 dollars.. I'm sure noone ever stole a W202 xd.

I can guarantee that you will be very very surprised.
Bluearc can do fueling per cylinder too.
    Per cylinder safety protocols
    Multi spark
    Built in dbw
    Boost control logic
    (By gear and rpm)
    Sustech very good
    Spitronics good
    Dicktator aaaaah beginning stage
By far the most respected ecu is a motec ecu

Love the video, great thinking. My issue I have with lambda and EGT Pyro tuned engines, is now we have a difference in BMEP across cylinders, do we now have a dynamic shift in harmonics to consider now that the crank is getting varying load amounts from each cylinder, it definitely gets you thinking about harmonic frequencies again 😉

and thats why ill choose the powermods over the dictator as it runs std,60-2 36-1 etc etc has 4 GPO outs and can control fan, can do phase and full sequential, has dual maps, can do DBW, can even do flex fuel etc etc for way less money than the dictator, dictator cant do most of that, and if u want it, to you have to spend even more money to get external modules for it. so cost to feature set it wins hands down even compared to the spitronics

The best ECU is an open source ECU (Speeduino). Completely customizable and add on with modules. You can buy R15k ECU for 1 feature that sub R8k ECUs don't have. I think Spitronics have been "adding" VVTi control for the past 12 years with the Mercury 2, now even the Mercury 3 still doesn't have pure VVTi control...

very informative and not opinionated video.we could sit for hours.well done sir.after being in the motor trade for almost forever and having had my fair share of dictator spitronic and even gotech.i only have one issue with all aftermarket systems. They cannot hold their memory like oem manufacturer ecu's.once that map goes and you have to get it to a workshop and standing in the middle of nowhere.thats the time you know you're i.d.k.plus it then has to be retuned if the original map wasn't backed up.

Being able to drive and have an amazing road experience and then taking it to the track and beating on it and thereafter driving home.

I think this is quite bias given blue arc as a lot of features with multiple plugins and outputs. Besides that aspect the blue arc support would be amping the best. As when you buy blue arc you get Chris as a contact that would be on call and able to assist almost anywhere in the world as long as you have internet 🤷🏻‍♂️ do your own research before hearing someone that only chooses Ecu’s that are a part of his business

    • @Pynoxim1
      @Pynoxim1 23 дня назад +1

It's probably due to the fact that it's open source, there is no direct support line since it's not built by a single manufacturer and depending on who built it you can also have weird issues like noise on the triggers due to poor shielding or electrical noise suppression. But Speeduino ftw, I've wired and tuned so many of them now and they're amazing for the price.

BS!!!!! At around 14:45 in this video I heard enough of this sales pitch. Firstly, any Subaru owner will never tune their car on Tier 1 software, doesn't matter which way you spin it. Why on earth will you want to ignore Subaru OEM Advanced Warning Systems, and rather tune on software that will do a hard cut when it is to late? (not sure if the hard cut explained means limp mode or engine broken) That car comes with advanced electronics, sensors, turbo actuation, injector pulse, cam angel, etc, etc. All communicating to a brilliantly designed ECU. It determines everything, from speed sensors at every wheel (making traction control so brilliant) , to your engine protection strategy, like taking into consideration the 'fuel film on last cylinder' you referred to. Respectfully Sir, if you are going to attack ECU's that are not even in your league, you need to advise your customers that those same ECU buyers will know that they also need a Power Control Module. Already equipped to read any and every sensor available on the market. I will make an educated guess, but I am sure most people on this platform are not too worried about pulling boats to the Vaal river. That is like being stuck in the 90's while the tuning world has evolved. And if you are still stuck there, hopefully you know someone with a 3L Ford Cortina, nothing will get you there more in style. Especially if that Cortina is bagged!
