Tour Greenmount Homestead with The House Detective!

- Join me on a tour of the INCREDIBLE heritage-listed Greenmount Homestead near Mackay in North Queensland, Australia. Marvel over the sumptuous historic interiors of the home, including one of the best Art Deco bathrooms I've ever seen and stroll around the grounds and explore the outbuildings.
The house was built in 1915 as a home for Albert and Vida Cook. Albert Alfred Cook was the son of Kennedy district pioneer, John Cook, who took up Balnagowan Station, not far from where Greenmount is today. Greenmount Homestead was designed by Mackay architect, William Sykes, based on Albert's rough plans. The house was built by local Walkerston builders Arthur Carter & Co. The fireplace, mantelpiece and a number of furniture items were moved to the new house from Balgowan and remain on display today.

Wow ! Those ceilings are a work of art aren't they ?
The bathroom was probably very elegant in its day. I do like the protruding glass shelves though. I couldn't see any fixings so assume they must be fixed in with the tiles. Haven't seen that before.

Love Greemount. I've seen some interesting beds in my time, especially in European castles but that bed in one of those rooms was the skinniest I have ever seen.
