Is the Lexus LFA worth the hype??!
Absolutely without a doubt. 🏁🏁
Nope
YES
YOOO OFCOURSEE!!!
Yes, yes it is.
There's a reason why the LFA was Jeremy Clarkson's favorite car of all time..and he's driven a lot of cars
YUP! Clarkson's been reviewing all cars for DECADES and to this DAY ! the LFA is one THE BEST cars he has ever DRIVEN
It’s like a wild animal that’s sad about something.
@@Kxjiow…….ow……ow
That review is probably 12+ years old now so other cars have caught up but God dam that down shift noise is worth every penny
That was 12 years ago. Mate. Lol
It's not slow, you're just used to hypercars. Everything will seem slow after a Bug or Rimac. You don't buy an LFA for the speed, it's about the experience, the sound, the handling etc.
Yeah exactly why I drive an RX8. It's not the fastest thing on the streets but the way it stays planted when I throw it into a corner while the engine is screaming at 10.000 rpm just brings the biggest smile to my face every single time.
He’s just saying that at that point of time he doesn’t think it’s worth it just bcuz he think the price is so high bcuz of the hype but he does say he will buy one if he can get a better price.
I bet he'll sell it quick
The LFA only sounds great. Everything else is pretty subpar for the price; horrible transmission, modest performance, and not great chassis dynamics. Might be the most overrated "exotic" of the era.
idk no-one here's actually driven one so who knows. @@taylorc2542
Some don't know this, but the LFA had its exhaust tuned by Yamaha audio engineers to make it sound as it does. Normally I think an aftermarket solution is the way to go for most performance cars, but in the case of the LFA idk if it's honestly the smart thing to do. But overall for a now 11 year old car that's using technology that essentially from the mid/late 2000's, it's an exceptional piece of technology and automotive history. And given the Hamilton Collection's presence in the larger car community I think it would serve the LFA well to be in the collection so it can get the proper recognition & appreciation it deserves.
yeah not worth changing its exhaust
Agreed - do NOT touch the Yamaha-tuned, factory exhaust on an LFA. Steve, please add one as a keeper to your collection
It's actually impossible to change it I'm pretty sure. If you read the way they designed it it's incredibly complex.
@drew, i think all enthusiasts know that the LFA Exhaust was tuned by Yamaha, i knew that donkey years ago!!
Not yamaha audio but yamaha motors
The LFA is absolutely worth the hype. Have to remember it’s a decade old too. It’s an amazing car
Love the cars but overhyped and hoarded by collectors. I remember they couldn’t give these cars away for 300-400 thousand and they were sitting at the dealership
Overhyped u mean.... I rather buy a r8 or a Lamborghini.... u can still buy a Ferrari and collectable and still be better
@@joshmaitie5954You just don’t get it.
Also it took over a decade to create.
Love that they say it's slow with a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds says a lot about there collection 🙂
i was thinking the same after he said it the 3rd time "it's slow, .... but"
0-60 is more like 4.2 very rare to get under 4 seconds
He was shifting soooo early. I dont think he knows how high you can rev it. He still had half the tac to go lol
@@50nic33 I thought the exact same thing bro. I was yelling at my phone "LET THAT THING REV OUT AND SIIINNGGGG PLEASE"!!!! 😂😂😂
u act like he doesnt drive super cars daily so ofc this car will be slow to him.
That’s my OLD LFA!!!!!!! I love that car so much, I need to buy it back!
SO BUY IT!!! WE NEED IT BACK ON THE CHANNEL
one of the cars you should have kept i think
Wait so this is a salvage title car?
@@joshuad1716 no Clean title , Houston only got rid of it cus he was tired of it & was putting money in other businesses
@@josiahjoel4765nope, this was salvage due to flood and sold to Houston by the scammer Dan Lesin, who then sold it to Houston after scamming AIG insurance. Story is easy to find…
As an ISF owner. Yes yes and yes! Lfa is unbelievable
What year isf u have and how many miles?
Same. I love my ISF and approve this purchase.
ISF and lfA are worlds apart on price , you could have a collection of a dozen terrific cars including ISF in it for one single LFA, so is it worth having 12 attainable terrific cars or one “super” car
@@luiscouto6543I'd rather have 12 cheaper fun cars I could dump money into and get perfected for my own tastes
I've got the IS500 & 2UR-GSE ftw.
The Story is amazing of that thing, the developed it twice, cause once finished it was too heavy so they started in carbon again, rev counter was made digital as no analog one could keep with the engine, sound is so awesome
yeah the rev counter story is the coolest one. It revved so fast that they couldn't do an analog counter!
Even cooler? They invented, yes, invented their own carbon weaving machine to get a higher than normal rigidity per kg for the carbon that was used. So no other car in the world has this specific carbon weave.... And then they painted it hahahaha
For the year of the car, it's what was expected back then. Wouldn't run it with some of today's exotics.. But it is what it is, and still historical..
No it wasn't! It was a failure that didn't perform as hyped! It's still trash and overrated!
@@its_tapsbuddy u have a G35… u can’t be calling an LFA trash😂😂
@@epad3795savage😂
@@its_tapstypical Z/G owner behavior, thinking that buying the Honda Civic of t00ner carz gives you valid opinions 🤡
Car did not perform when it came out. And history proved it. Lexus had a shitty practice of only leasing the car essentially to buyers. It was slower than all of its rivals, and considerably more expensive in most cases. Its only saving grace was the engine, which unfortunately was wasted in such a comparably mediocre car. That engine deserved to be in some mid engine, lightweight NSX type car. The Nissan GTR from 2009 absolutely smoked this car, as did the Ferrari 458, Lamborghini Gallardo LP560, etc etc. And the Lexus cost more than all these cars.
They couldn't even sell them, even until way WAY after production, there were still unsold cars sitting on the dealer lots. Stop romanticizing the vehicle to be something its not. Its a car people like today, fine, everyone can like whatever they like. But back when this car came out, everyone commented on how slow it was, and it developed a bad reputation for poor performance, bad dealer practices and thus it was hard to sell. That's the true history of the vehicle.
“What do you drive?”
“Just an 11 year old Toyota.”
Is a lexus?
@@syncwithmoney23 Lexus is Toyota.
We love Toyota
Toyota is mean Payless but get the best
Is a Lamborghini or Bentley a Volkswagen or a Ferrari a Fiat? it sure is funny how a European brand is never mentioned by its parent company
@@theroyalcrown9165 Exactly right. But then when there’s a mk5 Supra, EVERYONE has to yell “nice bimmer!”
This car is not for speed or performance. They built this car for comfort, sound, and mechanic feeling. True masterpiece of sound engineering
best sounding v10 engine built by Yamaha! Love it!
Was engine built by Yamaha ? I thought they developed the exhaust
Yamaha helped with the engine as well. it was a co operation
Engine was built by Toyota F1 team & Yamaha.
Then tuned by Yamaha both power & sound.
I think Toyota technically*built* it, but obv Yamaha had a hand in development and tuning. But yeah, best sounding V10 tho I swear this one sounds off like it's misfiring a cylinder some of the time but it could just be the audio
@@gulag88 Correct, and they re-opened their shut downed & closed F1 engine plant to build only these engines specifically for this car. Unreal.
The exhaust resonates through the cabin with a super cool system of pipes that literally wrap around the driver and passenger, I would highly recommend looking up how it works!
I would highly advise AGAINST a custom exhaust on an LFA.
Forget about the acceleration for a minute, it won’t be slow when you’re driving it in its powerband which will be above 6k, remember it’s not turbo it’s an old school NA screamer. Get those revs up.
I'll take those V10 goosebumps over a Senna - hell, over 10 Sennas - every day.
Crazy! Senna outperforms this shit by miles and still sounds amazing!
@@its_taps
Don't care about outperforming, I had to literally look up how a Senna sounded because it's THAT forgettable.
McLaren hasn't made an amazing car since the P1, and probably never will.
Finally someone showcasing an LFA, this car is about the sound and experience and ill be honest no one has had the balls to even attempt to improve the performance aspect of an LFA
4:56 "it is slow, but so is Tommy"
Can we get a moment of silence for the burn victim please.
LFA just has a lot of emotion to it. Worth it!
i love that steve gets straight to the point instead of saving it for the last 10 seconds of the video
The LFA is so worth it, I think if you redlined, you could’ve heard the sounds of yamaha and a v10 sound like a symphony
The creation of the V10 was lead by Lexus' chief engine designer Okamoto Takamitsu. The engine starts life at Toyota's Myochi plant. It is at this plant that the engine block is made from molted aluminium. The block is then sent to Toyota's Honsha factory. The same factory that used to be Toyota's F1 engine facility. The block will get milled, drilled and polished and emerges as a precise engine block. In a sealed room Takumi’s hone every sharp edge using precision polishing tools. After this a highly skilled Takumi pre-assembles the finished engine blocks to check if they fit precisely. Disassembled they travel as unit to Yamaha’s Iwata city plant. It is at this plant that 4 highly skilled Yamaha Takumi’s fully assemble V10. A process that takes 2,5 days for one engine. Before the engine gets put into an LFA, it undergoes a half day of exhaustive testing.
imo the LFA is the best sounding car ive heard. how could you not sit there and rev it? She's a BEAUTY sir!
This LFA along with the other fog light car used to be in Costa Rica belonged to the owner of Toyota/Lexus in Costa Rica. The other is a red one and still remains in CR!
Amazing car, not everyone wants to be fast in a straight line, enjoy the cars for what it is
Been fortunate enough to see one of these as well as sit in one. One of the 17 allocated to Canada. The owner of the Toyota Dealership I work at has a family member with an LFA. Absolutely amazing car. The sound is unparalleled.
You definitely get a big like from me bc out of every one that films cars in general no body’s done or had a LFA and I think it’s super underrated.
It’s not how fast you go, but the way you get to the destination. It’s a very good emotional car to have
I remember they weren’t selling at the time and I was shocked they weren’t. I’ve only seen 1 (white one) at a Fisker dealership back in 2012 or 2013 in Bellevue, WA. I never got to hear it in person but on video it sounds so amazing.
I saw one at Redmond Town center last year, super cool
@@imperialfilms1002 I wonder if it’s the same one. E@RTC is such a great car show. I saw Sir Mix A Lot there with his MP412C

You know I’ve always loved a V12 sound, but this here is iconic. Pinnacle of engineering at its time. Lovely video showing this Lexus! 😮
I don’t know how much this guy knows about cars. The development of LFA was insane.
one of the most underrated supercars. slightly underpowered (compared to other supercars) because japanese cars always are. but the best sounding V10 next to the carrera GT. most people shy away simply because its a japanese car that lauched highly priced at around $375 - $400k MSRP, but Lexus was still losing money on every car sold. While the Senna is a $1million dollar car, the LFA sitting at a million means it has more than doubled in value while the senna is still hovering around its MSRP. RM Sothebys currently has a Nurburgring edition that is estimated to fetch near 2million at auction. only 50 editions made.
That sound 👂🏽😍👂🏽
When you are driving modern hyper cars, it’s hard to feel like this car is fast. Technology has moved on so fast since this was released
#1 Dreamcar for me, glad to see it on the channel!
The experience for a driver! can't imagine the noise the stability the peace of mind. ah!pure joy❤️
I rode my roadbike on rhe Vegas strip when an LFA passed me, 10 years later i still remember the sound
I absolutely love these cars I feel like they don't get the respect they deserve the people that do on them don't tend to drive them very much you hardly ever see them out on the road or on Rally's and there's such a reliable car I don't know why people don't use them more I get it they're rare and valuable but what's the point in having something that's nice if you're not going to have a little fun with it
you really get that amazing NA V10 sound when you in higher gears reaching the rev limiter, which goes up too 9000 RPM! you should def look into getting one. Great driving car and value would only keep going up
I’ve seen this car before when I used to live in Scottsdale AZ and I’ve seen it in one other video before but it’s cool to see it floating around the car community
The "slow" for him, is "FREAKING fast" for me in my 4cyl kia sorento 💀😂
It’s totally worth the price. They don’t make them like this anymore.
Hell Lexus/Toyota will NEVER make a car like this again which really adds to the special legacy of it
I would take this anytime and any day on any other super or HyperCar.
Mashallah the sound is just mesmerizing!
Yamaha doesn’t get enough respect for the role in LFA, both engineering and audio departments where involved in design of engine, the airbox (surge tank) as well as exhaust. Not just for better noise but also high rpm power and engine responsiveness (Idle to 9k rpm in 0.6 seconds and 553hp at 8500rpm). One more time 553hp form a 4.8L NA V8, that’s 115hp per litre without forced induction (turbo or supercharger). Beautiful
I hope you find a good buy but I also hope you don't ruin an LFA with an aftermarket exhaust. The stock exhaust is unique and amazing
He ruins every car, hence why he has trouble getting rid of them when he is done
@@jameswillard1 yeah I mean for cars that there's loads of like aventadors etc it can be fun but personally things like LFAs, 918s and Senna's I'm not a fan of modding. Seems to be an American thing in particular. I like stradman but he thinks everything needs to have an exhaust mod lol
@@MJM26stradman has the worst taste I've ever seen when it comes to car modding lol

WEIRD QUESTION but out of ALL of your vehicles which one has the BEST AIR CONDITIONING set up? 🏁
That car is so underrated. Just because it came out late haha I’m glad to see it get the attention and recognition it deserves.
I wasnt looking after i hit play and realized what it was from the audio lol. Looks amazing, usually see them white (which also looks good) but the red-orange is awesome. Id love to see someone do a trans swap on one honestly. The single clutch while light is the one thing people complain about, and a DCT or manual or just... Idk something else lol might do the car real justice.
Wow...at least you took the car to the red line...Shmee won't even let Stradman beat on His Zendayvo! And his car still under warranty.😂😂😂
Shmee is the grandma of the RUclips car community.. absolutely drives his cars like a 90 year old blind lady
LOVE this car. The engineering that went into this baby is unbelievable. Doesn’t get the praise and respect that it should imo. I’ve seen two in person at cars n coffee events. That sound from the V10 will make Ferraris green with envy 👌🏻👌🏻
That sound is just perfect!
Great choice Steve been lucky enough to be up close and personal including start up on a blue one that V10 is epic

Just starting it in the morning will make your day just that much better.
Thank you for giving us LFA content!!
Im 42 and LFA is on my top 5 best cars ever.Sound company called yahama actually worked on the cockpit sound
Fun fact: the exhaust is made with the piano division of Yamaha ( yes the Motorcycle and also Piano brand ) to 'compose' the sound that comes out!

Ps. I think lfa will be one of the holy grail priced cars in 15-20 years. Trust me. I once owned a CTS. With the 3.6 DI. If you know you know. 😉
To me, the Lexus LFA and the Porsche CGT are the two best sounding cars ever.
Love Steve and love this channel
welp, this has been my dream car since the first time i saw it back in 2012. the more recognition this car gets the less my hopes of owning one in the future... 1 million dollars for this is beyond insanity
would yall ever do own of the newer muscle cars on the channel?i feel like you’d like the zl1 or shelby tbh, sportier sound with track speeds of entry super cars. the hellcat is obviously a cool car but just off judging off your style .
Wow, 1 of 3 color, and 1 of 2 foglights?! Thats incredible! Such a gorgeous car!
A lot of people think the LFA is great because the engine and the sound.
That isn't why.
Its a very, very, very fast track car. Its insanely fast around the track, even compared to modern cars.
For perspective, the LFA did its Nurburgring lap in 2011...and was within a second of a 918 spyder that came out 4 years later, within a second of a 911 GT3. Within 2 seconds of a 720S which came out almost a decade later, and within 10 seconds of a RIMAC NIVERA.
And it only makes 500hp and has no turbos. During its time, it gaped the Nissan GTR by 15 seconds, which is usually described as faster. Think about it, to this day, the only cars that have beat it at the nurburgring have been: A lot of new GT3's, 2 one off lamborghini track packages, the AMG One which is a formula one car (almost), 2 new ferraris and the Doge Viper ACR. All of which came out way way way after the LFA. It is one of the only "old generation" (mid 2000's developed) cars that punch that far up the list for all out track performance. And a lot of it has to do with its impeccable handling.
Some say its a "super car" but really, its a super sports car, its designed to be driven for fun, not in a straight line.
Take it to the track. Then you will see.
Dont forget the lfa nurburgring edition had the production car lap record at the ring when it came out! Its a serious sports car.
Also i know you were being very kind to the car but remember the redline is 9 and the limiter is at 9500! Bet it would feel a lot faster if you had full throttle and revved it all the way out. Thats how these high revving NA engine like to be treated 🤠
OMG THAT SOUND!!!!!!!!! Never mind the speed, it's an old car now ahah! MEGA MEGA SOUND!!! Loved the video!
Always loved this car 😍
Everyone has had Ferrari and Lambo's on their wall since they were kids, but ever since I heard this car in some commercials and limited youtube videos of them back in the day, this car's sound has forever been solidified in my memory banks for bad a$$ NA car sounds! He was near the redline for the perfect sound, but he didn't ride it out long enough for the top end RPM's for this car to truly shine with the exhaust. The pedigree of this car, and the story of how it came together is just amazing! PLEASE ADD THIS CAR TO THE COLLECTION, sometimes it isn't about fast lap times, or if the car has 2100 lb of downforce in the corners.........
YES!!!!! I am pretty sure ive seen this one in person!
LFA is my dream car, right next to the GT3RS
That a real masterpiece
i got rollers of this car a few weeks ago the sound of it is just amazing
That intake sound❤😭 what a car!
Theres so many great LFA facts, rev counter is digital because the car revs too fast for analog (I believe 1-9000 in 0.9 seconds), car was built over 6 years with an aluminum frame, the head designer didnt like how much it weighed so they went back and developed the entire car in a carbon monocoque which took a further many years to develop. Japans first v10 and so much more
"It is slow, but so is tommy and i love him" 😂😂
This car takes me back to the F1 V10 days of the early 2000s ❤
Hell ya 1m and saw your post sheeeesh your a legend (a fan from dubai )
