BAM isn’t talked about enough for me…I’m so glad he was on the podcast. You can see how he is still in awe that his own contribution to the music industry is still impacting us today
Martha Wash is a power house! SWV first album is a classic, always in rotation. Raw vocals, genius producing. This is legendary. Cant wait to hear his Top 5 and his "no name story" lol Can we get ad-libs back in r&b??? 😂😂😂😂
Had My R&B ☕️ this morning. Time to start my Saturday. This Pod is Brilliant. Esp if your an R&B head. Gives you sooo much history and background of music and songs and even the artist. This is a hit Pod Emmy Deserving Pod. Thanks Tank And Jay for this. Keep it coming we are all here to support and keep this R&B train moving.
SWV's "That's What I Need" is still in regular rotation for me. BAM's production, those lush harmonies and ear snatching backgrounds on that song are second to none. Thank you Brian for the great memories.
I’m a Smooth Jazz head. I was glad to hear the name Wayman Tisdale come up! Very talented man who died way too soon. 😢 BTW, Jaco Pastorious died in 1987. His Portrait of Tracy is a classic but erratic composition. Which makes sense.
I'm so grateful for this podcast! I've never heard of this man before in my life, and to discover that he has written some of my absolute FAVORITE songs is mind blowing to me. This podcast is so special ❤.
This was truly a masterclass. I’m not in the music business, but I still learned a lot! And the smiles were on ten today from Tank, Brian and Professor J.
This was an incredible journey and episode.Wonderful Thank you R&B Money These episodes will be studied for years to come by Scholars. Tank and J. are incredible I m watching it again because there was so much information and it was so interesting❤🎉🎉🎉
I love how much genuine love was evident in this episode. Tank churching everything up for Brian. The grown man discussion, disagreement then actual listening and respect. His top 5 was CRAZY (I got homework to do)! Never even thought about all the voices of Michael Jackson! And J with his business mind! He plays no games okay! I just loved the entire content of this episode. This was real real good!! ❤
Brian Alexander Morgan is that GUY... great spirit and a real dude,he feels like a friend... You gentlemen can't miss ,please keep them coming... Information , entertainment and real talk..
My appreciation for this show just grew exponentially. And it’s because of guests like BAM. His breakdown of Right Here remix was noteworthy, not to be messy, but to underline how people who lack cache fall through the cracks. I say this as a huge Teddy fan, I’m glad to know the names of the others responsible for that record. And for what it’s worth, the original was dope when I heard it years later. I was so confused why it never reached anyone.
His favorite Uncle was my first guitar teacher in Omaha. His family would come up during the summer. I have known him since we were little kids. He has always had great ears.
Until he said it, I hadn’t noticed that the mainstream, Black, pop adjacent groups are not sampled as much as those who were primarily planted in R&B! It does say a lot about how much soul the records have.
Now wait a min. How is J going to tell Brian how the clearance of a record that he wasn’t around for got cleared?! I enjoy this podcast, but sometimes J can try to know everything in situations he has nothing to do with and that were way before his time. Please just let the guests tell you what really happened. They were there. This isn’t the first time.
Yes and the clip was edited. There must have been a pretty bad disagreement because there is a clear edit and break in continuity around the time of the producing teddy riley situation.
Every Saturday the joy I get from watching these videos… it’s beyond entertainment, it’s the knowledge… true R&B lovers are not going to get this quality content ANYWHERE else
And J. Valentine ...you don’t have to be always right. Let the guests speak their experience and truth. This is an informative podcast; you want all experiences, facts, and perspectives to be heard. Still, ultimately, it is about your guests and their process of educating people who want to get into this business. Perspective can be debatable, but rules are not. There are always "unwritten rules," but he explained the actual rules with permissions allowed, and he would know. Always remember your position and the goals of this podcast. This will also enable other guests to feel comfortable coming on and explaining their journey. Much respect to this podcast.
Agreed. I didn’t like this part of the conversation. J. Valentine needs to let the guest speak. And let them talk about their perspective of the business. Also, it’s like dude were you there. Lol
He done this before and he a grown man so you know he's not going to change his ways. He did this when Tiffany spoke invalidating people experiences like he was there when things happened.
@@msmojo1 He seems to be sharp, and he also reads comments. I have noticed it in other interviews, too, and maybe no one says anything to him. It's a great podcast, and I have much experience with alpha personalities as I manage them and I am an alpha. Sometimes we need to pull back but others will not tell us.
Thanks for yet another great couch conversation with someone I don't have a lot of knowledge about. Each podcasts gives me more life lessons, humor and all around good feeling. The best podcast out there right now and I hope it will continue for a very long time because it's definitely appreciated and needed!!
Before I tune into the R&B Money podcast, I listen to music from various genres and generations while walking on my treadmill. Today, before your show, my ears and soul were graced by Al Green's melodic inquiry, "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?" My Lord!!! During Brian Alexander Morgan's interview, I began to understand, more specifically, the dynamics of lyrical and instrumental placement. This is why the violinist and organist accompaniment in How Can You Mend take Al's vocals to another level. Props to phenomenal songwriters like Tank, J Valentine, Alexander, and even the Bee Gees, who wrote How Can You Mend. Finally, I love the information you two gifted, beautiful, brilliant brothers and your guests share with the community--it's worth R&B Money!!! Because I come from a music-oriented family, watching your podcast is like going home. Thank$
Yes he was and this isn't the first time he's done it. He refuses to give Teddy his credit for that remix, because it was bigger than the original version the he produced.
OH MY LAWDY!!! So excited. I have loved BAM since he sang on the SWV track- then I learned he was behind all them HITZ! Ya land Valentine is Doin it!!! For all the TRUE music lovers- Thank YOU, TY TY!!!
Grateful for this J and Tank!!! Martha Wash is known for ballads by true appreciators. The I (Who Have Nothing) remake with Luther in the 90s.....simply fire!!! It's a small world when all these producers, singers and collaborators keep intersecting between eras. Kudos to BAM still being talked about and sought after👏👏👏👏👏
Love how Brian brought everything back around and connected it. Such a great testament to how sometimes it’s not your time, but what is meant for you will come. Also, shout out Martha Wash, definitely doesn’t get enough credit.
Such a 🔥🔥 episode!! Love the balance of artist and human that Brian exudes!! Such profound life perspective shared along his musical rise to greatness. He gained a follower after this, so to answer his question at the end.. you did a great job!! Thank you R&B money for allowing tremendous talents like Brian to convey their stories in a space of appreciation!!
This was amazing! I wish he wouldve let Tank & J finish their point on where the industry was going in terms of different ways to make money and globalization etc before the tyla mention

OMG! See this is why I need to watch EVERY episode! Forgot all about the song Wednesday Lover! Loved that song growing up and now I gotta add it to my Spotify play list🤗
When is R & B Money going to interview Avant, KeKe Wyatt, Raphael Sadiq, Dream, Missy Elliott, Ne-Yo, Luke James, any of the Commodores, Cameo, Morris Day? Any of Surface, Patrice Rushen?
Brian Alexander Morgan IS the soundtrack to LIFE!! Genius!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Time for my new version of Saturday morning cartoons lol
Right lol
Yes!! Cartoon version
Big facts. I’m always 10 minutes early waiting in the chat!
Exactly. Lol.
He had a drum machine in service in '82?!?!?🤯🤯 Iconic.
Thank you for taking it BACK. Him working with SWV was Destiny!!!
💯
I love the brotherhood Jay and Tank has❤ I've watched Every episode 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
They are boyfriends
I love Tank’s positive outlook on everything! He’s ALWAYS looking at the bright side!
He’s definitely a glass half full kinda guy.

This is one of you guys most important interviews ever and I don't think people even understand
can you please say it again?
So true!! I'm behind on episodes. I came to watch the Marsha Ambrosius episode. I saw him in the thumbnail and had to stop here first
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 -OY3AH! I think they’ll even understand this maybe in 10-20 more years ! Talk about genius and Hits!
This and Troy Taylor 🔥🔥
That SWV Rain is a beast of a song ! My word !!!
So many people are sleep on “Wednesday Lover” by the Gap Band. One of the coldest songs ever! Play it to this day…
Jagged Edge did an excellent remake to it.
This!!!!!
Martha Wash and Sylvester have similar voices
Nas is a legend
JE brought that song to me back in 97 and it took years to find out it was a remake. People don't talk about how great that album is to this day
Brain Alexander Morgan He is a underrated OG #RnB #Money
I love how J makes his points ! He is so intelligent that he understands the business so well
The way I smile ear to ear when Tank plays “I ain’t saying no names” intro is crazy 😅😅 Definitely my fav segment! 😂😂
You have to sing it with him. 🎤😅
SWV's "That's What I Need" is still in regular rotation for me. BAM's production, those lush harmonies and ear snatching backgrounds on that song are second to none. Thank you Brian for the great memories.
Probably the hardest song on that album, probably,🤔
My guy Brian is so humble.. guy said “was this a good show? Was this a good one?” lol…. Yesss nigga it was 🔥🔥🔥🤣
😂❤
Never heard of him but heard him my whole life and that my friends is the beautiful thing about this beautiful show ❤
He's also the guy singing on "You're Always on My Mind." I'm surprised they didn't mention it.
Facts!
My favorite Saturday morning 🌄 spark
Almost to 100th episode 🎉🎉🎉🎉
This is why R&B Money is the best show rn! Brian Alexander Morgan?!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Classic COLAB with SWV (Always On My Mind). One of Brian ICONIC productions of that track
I love how Tank & J DO WHAT THEY DO BEST!!!!! PERIODT!
This is the most "business" episode yet!
Been a BAM fan since the 90s
Yes sir, this was a good one 🎉
The vulnerability at the end of this episode was beautiful to watch.

Fav producer of all time. Much love from South Africa
J and Tank was taking the Teddy thing so personal. That man can have his opinion about the music he made and it can be subjective.
He can have an opinion and still be dead wrong.
@@cajunbatmanand so can they.

Please get D’Angelo on!!!!!!!
On God!!!
This was not a good episode, it was a GREAT episode!! Truly a masterclass .

Brian Alexander Morgan is the goat. So glad we got to hear his story. We are getting close to the 100th episode yall! I know it will be lit 🔥
I love how he timestamps his life by music eras ❤❤❤❤
Another great interview. Now can we get an episode with Denzel Foster and Thomas McElroy, the producers for En Vogue 🤩

I think his reasoning is because he's close to the Jackson family and personally friends with Michael
Brian was right. The label makes those big decisions.
Human Nature was written by the group Toto the same group who sang Africa!
The original demo by them (Toto) is awesome. The pitch was a little lower.
🎶 So whisper in my ear, just what I want to hear 🎶 OMG!! That's my FAVORITE song on Ushers album #crazy ❤❤
Talk about it! I always wondered who produced that song. It's definitely a masterpiece. One of my favorite USHER songs. Only the real ones know 💯🔥
