- Pacific Park is an amusement park most people have seen, but few know it by name. This is the park on the famous Santa Monica Pier that is usually used for an establishing shot of Los Angeles on TV. This park only spans 2 acres, but it has a decent lineup all things considered. This review explains if you should visit this famous park.

In the 60s, there was another beach amusement park on a pier in Santa Monica called Pacific Ocean Park (commonly called P.O.P.). The current park on Santa Monica Pier has a name that is a callback to the beloved P.O.P.
Cool, didn't realize that.
I'd have loved to been able to visit P.O.P. The Ocean Bubbles and the roller coasters looked fantastic!
Whenever I play gta I always go here and try to ride the coaster but instead drive a car off the edge because I come it at like 120 mph

This park is much more about the Pier and all the Restaurants and great shops that surround it. As long as you don't expect Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, you'll be fine. There are NO High Intensity Rides on this pier. You can be at SFMM or Knotts in an hour. Have some great seafood here and then head out for some "Real Thrills" at the parks I mentioned.
I agree it's important to temper expectations from a ride perspective.
I live In New Jersey, where we have around 9 boardwalk parks along the Shore which includes one of the worlds largest, Morey’s Piers. I visited Pacific Park last December, I mean this pier is iconic and the scenery is beautiful in the background with the mountains and palm trees BUT there are not many thrilling rides! The West Coaster was fun though and I’m so grateful to have visited though ❤️

I am glad you said this was a free admission park. For some reason, I didn't think it was. If it wasn't, I wouldn't be too in a hurry to go there. Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier looks more exciting to be honest.
It's possible they did admission during covid, but during normal operation, they do not.

Convenient timing.
I went on a cloudy, dreary day, but at least they were open. Magic Mountain decided not to open for the day due to morning sprinkles, which is why I went here instead. The place was very empty, and I had no problem getting a parking meter spot & getting on the coaster quickly.
That's a bummer Magic Mountain closes in bad weather so easily.
I ran under the pier 5 days a week on & biked as well , Loved watching pier at night Ferris wheel looked awesome.

We went here in 2021, it was a quiet day, we went on the coaster, and even though there was no people in the station (I was at the front of the queue), they let me sit in the back row!
I was allowed to do that in 2016, but not in my return trips. Was it a hot day by chance? When I've been, I'm usually there in fall or spring when it's in the 50s-60s.
@@CanobieCoaster I went during winter, and the employees were super nice and friendly, which I love when going to parks.
Having lived next door for 20 years, I don't even consider this an amusement park. It's only worth visiting if you happen to be there. It looks pretty and I enjoy walking through it when I would visit the pier or enjoy imagining what it could be as you walk the beach. In reality, It's a throwback to a mall food court with a kiddie coaster and ferris wheel.
It definitely shines most in the atmosphere department.
I like how this park was represented in Tony Hawk's American Wasteland. I would grind around the ride until the train knocked me off.
I'm familiar with it from Grand Theft Auto.
