- Join some of the old guard Kansas City AVSforum enthusiasts as we discuss our recent experimentation stacking two Epson LS12000 Home Theater projectors to light up a 200" screen! Was it worth the effort? Is stacking two more mainstream (lower cost projectors) a viable solution towards getting more lumens on a giant projector screen? Potentially saving you money against the the excessive tens of thousands of dollar prices for single high lumen HT projector? We share our thoughts live!
HERE is the supplemental video footage for this podcast since we are limited to 720p on the podcast. Do bear in mind that even so, I was recording in SDR, with an HDR source so this is just to get you the basic idea, not to show you precisely what you will see in video form. I don't have the video recording equipment to do it justice.

Question for Ryan, what seats are those that you have in your theater? They look like the Valencia Barcelona seats however they look a little different. Are they from another manufacturer?
@@film2354 they are Manwah seats. You can find out more here: www.avsforum.com/threads/atypical-idea-low-back-sectional-with-electric-headrest-seeking-ideas-to-best-preserve-sound-field.3238863/page-3?post_id=62538238#post-62538238
@@film2354 and, no offense taken, but that is Jonathan’s room chairs. Ryan uses a chase lounge instead of theater chairs in his room.
Danke!
@@stefanscharer8533 thank you kindly for the donation! I’m glad you enjoyed the discussion and test!
dude the brightness difference at 49:00 is insane. 2 projectors make the single projector look way too dim. Do you think this will work with 2 5050ub's?
And thanks for the IMAX and Dolby projector contrast specs. I didn't know that and never thought about searching for them. Gives a good benchmark for getting a good experience.
@@ChadAV69 I think it should work with two 5050UB. If you find a good deal on a used one and can deal with the setup process and rigid mounting requirement - give it a go! Here is the link for the information on the commercial theater contrast ratios for reference: arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/10/imax-with-laser-superb-contrast-4k-resolution-and-huge-colour-gamuts/
Wow, what a room Ryan. Congrats! That’s not a home theater, that’s an actual commercial theater, just inside your house 😝. I’m not big on the Barcelona look, but they do look nice in your room.
I remember people doing this in the 1990s with CRT video projectors CRT stacking.... the more advanced form of this is something called edge blending where you have two projectors side by side one projector does the left hand side of the image and the other projector does the right hand side of the image. and then a special piece of equipment called a blendzilla that does The Edge blending....
Remarkable to think 30 years ago had that technology and we don’t implement it easily on consumer gear today.
Wow such a room ..that's bigger than the floor layout of my whole house !!! You guys are next level.
@@billhayes5047 check out Ryan’s build thread. He has a little reminder that he is the ant and patience is his weapon. He did nearly the entire thing, including HVAC, Concrete work, wiring, and cosmetic design. He’s a pretty amazing fellow. www.avsforum.com/threads/cinema-midwest-2-0.2580921/
Love you guys
This is a great podcast
It would be fairly easy to make a great mount with isolation
Agreed. I think this is totally feasible for someone with a fixed 16x9 screen installation.
Using a MadVR to do the work and leave the (2) projectors alone?
Can you elaborate what you mean?
