- Best catfish bait. Definitely my favorite bait of choice especially for warmer water and heading in to fall. Catching skipjack can be a tedious job but it sure pays off and is a huge reward in the long run
Thanks for the tips Bro! I got a vacuum sealer and suck at using it. Your video was very helpful.
Thanks man, once you get used to using it and figure out a few tricks to it, it will get easier. If it’s not sealing right, sometimes all you gotta do is flip the bag over. Keep the slime out of the end of it, is the main thing.
Good trip James... I tried Meldahl this morning and got blanked. Prety sure I wasn't getting it deep enough. I'll re-rig & try it again soon.
Friend of mine was out there yesterday, and got one out of 1000 cast
Great haul of skipjack! Wish I could do that. Next week I head to the Tennessee River for my annual trip and skipjack is king down there.
Ya buddy. Take a cooler. These are Ky jacks
Appreciate the info. Hope it was a good day out🎣
It definitely got better once we got over to the other dam plus the air warmed up for us which was very nice
James, I really Wish we had Skipjack in our Rivers Here in Western Pa.Our Flatheads would be world record size if that was true. The Pa Fish Commission just reintroduced the Blue Cats in our 3 rivers Allegheny,Monaghela, Ohio. Do you think they stocked Skipjack first? No. To make it even more difficult for the Catfisherman They make you buy a Cast net Permit 22.00$ For each river. Tightlines God Bless
Wow a net permit is overboard
Pennsylvania has the most ignorant laws I've ever heard of especially the no hunting on Sundays that seems like a constitutional issue for sure
Saw the title and rushed out to the front porch expecting to see a cooler full delivered. Alas, I was disappointed, again.... LOL Great tip on how to grab them! What's your fav skipjack weather/water conditions?
My favorite is the end of April into March here on our river. I’ve also had some really good success out of nowhere in June. I guess if I was to choose conditions, I would like it to be about 75° with a little fog on the river in the morning.
Im going to try to make it up to markland soon.. have been casting flat bank sinkers past few days.. but now that ive got a few hundred made i need to make it up to the dam
Good luck. Should be some cats and some skip jack up there in a couple weeks I would imagine. Water temperature is still a little low.
I'm already imagining my wife walking in with me wrapping all those fish in a blanket lol
where was the second damn you went too?
Barkley. Thanks for watching. Got a planer board video uploading right now actually
Know of any good places to fish for skipjack around Ashland Ky side of river ?
I’m not really familiar with this area. We usually fish at Markland and Meldahl Dam’s and then before the run they’re usually up in the creeks. I would be scoping out your closest Dam tailwater
Good video. Would it be any easier from a boat ?
I’m not real sure about that, I guess if you were able to get in some soft water and hit the seam around the boiling water, you would probably still be OK. Definitely pretty easy from the bank though except for dealing with some of the rocks standing in
nice trip and tutoring* luny. are Skipjack good eating ? sorry you had newbies fishin next you. we would experience that occasionally in Lodi Wisconsin at the point for Strippers. cast right over our lines. its ok, we let em live😅
I never ate one but years ago I used to be a group of people that we keep them and put them in the ground to ferment. Then they would bring them back up after a month and make patties out of them like you would for salmon. 😂
Hey any chance you could share the exact sabiki brand you use?
Ocean cat #2.
White with white feather
Nice James buddy
Thanks man
@@riverlunacy welcome buddy
I’ll gonna stop by tomorrow to grab a few!😂
🙈 I got a few
Fire vid 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you I appreciate it
👍👍👍
Thanks Calvin
man you went and did all that when you have a boat hell there locked in the creeks they have been for weeks now we got 267 the other day out of the creek
I got some in January in one of the creeks over here but I haven’t seen any since.
That always sucks when someone sees u catching fish and dam near crosses ur line. Aggravating as ever. And u can throw in front of them and catch the same damn fish.
It never fails 😂
