I love Jess as a player and person. Just gives her best. As a fellow introvert, I really understand how analytical she operates and processes her matches. She'll bounce back. She was close. She really pushed Aryna and knowing Jess, she would continue to improve the small things that cost her the match today. Aryna has a superior serve, movement and forehand which won her the match today. Jess has to continue to improve those things and she will win a slam too. Aryna was firing in all cylinders today. Aryna is currently the best player in the world at the moment. The rankings do not reflect it but it should soon. Congrats Jess. What a joy to finally see you in the finals.

@@pawshands9706 Totally agree. It’s so impressive to have the deep intrinsic drive despite the extreme privilege. I do think it’s a factor to never have a financial care in the world and access to every tech, wellness, nutrition, coach, and best of the best in every aspect to focus on one singular goal and ambition to be the very best in the world. Then it would have been interesting to see who would have held up in the final set.
In the end... Aryna served better (got way more free points with her serve) - and she won a lot more points at net.
    Congrats to Arya. Well done.
Congrats to Jess... making the final was awesome - and you nearly went to a tie breaker in both sets. A couple of key points... could have put you into a third set. That would have been so much fun to see.

I followed the "female" final in a stream: half of Jessica's opponent's shots were qualified as "too strong" or "too powerful".
Why do men and women compete in different categories?
Why are there different weight sub-categories in some sports?
    Why do junior categories exist?
Well, you have different categories because it makes no sense to run a competition where some contenders have competitive advantages of any kind.
If your opponent cannot counter your shots, you simply belong in a different category.
So congrats Jessica, you are the true female champion of USO24.

I feel for you Jess because you did all the heavy lifting by beating Iga and Muchova. In my opinion Sabalenka couldn't have beaten both those players in secession. Muchova is the most complete player on the WTA Tour and Iga is the toughest to beat.

The reason why Jessica lost was NOT because she couldn't handle the raw power of Sabalenka (which everyone keeps mindlessly repeating), but because she made too many unforced errors, and Sabalenka was like a brick wall at the net - using the volley to devastating effect.

Jessica played excellent aggressive and accurate tennis. I'm surprised few are mentioining how poor Aryna's first serve stats were. I watched the whole match closely. The match would have been a lot less close if Aryna had got 60%+ first serves in. Aryna is the most powerful woman player since Serena. I feel that the home crowd made it very hard for Aryna, she looked uncomfortable throughout the match and couldn't relax.

Things might have been different had she gotten the first set to tie-break. Her level dropped off at 5-5 in the first set. She then got into a funk. Did not take a break to refocus, then went down 0-3 in the 2nd set. She turned it around, but spent too much energy just getting back. She was never going to keep up that level to win the 2nd set much less the 3rd had she somehow won the 2nd set. The issue was the drop in level at 5-5 in the 1st set.
