      @@octosquid48 not that wild actually, there's been a pretty solid theory going around that since the future of everyone in Teyvat is premeditated because of the Fates written in the constellations that Teyvat is, in a sense, just a story "written" by Celestia or whoever else is in charge that the Traveler is experiencing, and at the end of the story they'll have the chance to take over as the script writer of the play
      The basis for said theory is the last summer event, books saying aspects of Teyvat, like the sky, are fake, the Fatui harbingers being named after roles in stage plays
      That's not to say the world itself is an illusion or a literal storybook or a play though, my personal interpretation is that since fate is written out in the stars it means the Future is already set in stone, meaning Teyvat is a metaphorical stage play using the residents as characters that drive the plot forward, but everything is still very real to everyone involved

      @indiomie 2 месяца назад +25

      you have to remember that the open world is pretty scaled down. it won't make much sense to make a really large world for a game that's already breaking mobile game drives. not to mention people were already complaining about the "vastness" of the desert area before, and that was small. imagine a truly vast desert true to its name ala Dune.

    • @youraverageguy4930
      @youraverageguy4930 11 дней назад +3

      @@indiomie I think most of the complaints are about the art direction and how before Natlan, there was the illusion of the mystery of Sumeru's desert that was kept up by the unexplorable parts where you could only see endless sand in the horizon. Pre-natlan it was like you were trying to gaze at a bottomless ocean that was obscured by darkness (or in Sumeru's case, a blinding sand storm).
      I kinda wish Natlan was located a bit to the north so that Sumeru's desert still had that mystery to it. It plays to the player's imagination and really emphasizes the lovecraftian theme with King Deshret's usage of forbidden knowledge where horrors and insanity-inducing knowledge are hiding right in your doorstep or hidden by the sands.

      Should have made the rest of the desert to Natlan what the water between the main land and Inazuma is. Nothing actually there but obviously the story would find a reason to by pass all that desert to get you to Natlan. Trying to cross the desert early would warrant a insta kill state such as a massive sand storm where you "lose your way" and get sent back to the inhabitable part of the Sumeru desert. Mihoyo flopped with this tbh.

    • @trongray664

    Damn, I get it from a video game perspective this used some otherwise un-utilized space on the map, but it makes the desert feel tiny and underwhelming whereas before it was vast and oppressive. Now it’s like “oh yeah from the capital of Sumeru to Natlan it’s like a 15 minute boat ride” and that’s really sad to see the desert scaled down so much. It really was the only “vast” space in the game and to see it cannibalized for video game reasons kinda sucks.

    • @trongray664
      @trongray664 2 месяца назад +24

      They should have begun Natlan as a desert expansion and then worked in the rest of the landscape gradually imo. I guess we're meant to interpret the previous vast desert dunes to still "exist" however due to that area not occupying any location it's gutted and Natlan is meant to be considered farther away than what we see it as. With that being said who the hell's idea was it to replace some of the previous desert dunes with fricking water and LOT's of it? I wonder if they will consider adding back some sand back drop to the south cuz that looks terrible and cramped.

      @@trongray664 before 5.0 i could see the jade chamber from the desert now its mostly able to view it.
      also yes there are more map expansions coming... expect the culling of empty areas to be even more aggragious like snezhnaya being righ up on dorman port with tons of verticality. and even the port itself getting the petrichor/port bada treatment
      edit: you can see how they purge things off just by noticing that somehow genshin is still under 100 GB of storage. some projections have the full map with all nations genshing will take 105~110GB, 120~125 if they get polygon happy shoving things everywhere and streching out the map.

    Very cool, i love the way you do this. I have a question, is it possible to use this method to lower the water levels of Fontaine? In-game, they said the water levels have been rising over time, I'm curious how the map would look if we lowered the water levels.

    I know more areas will get added in future patches but wow, Natlan is a lot smaller than I thought, even including the inaccessible areas of the other 3 tribes
    I wonder where Mare Jivari would be placed at, unless that's the underground area of Natlan, which would make sense there should be little to no wind underground

    I can already see all the tribes locations, the purply area inbewteen the floaty silver rock area is most likely the collective of plenty, the volcano will probably house a pyro tribe, and the floaty peak area will either house cryo or anemo

    That would make sense lore wise when they said the roots of irmensul doest reach that far into natlan. It's going to be much smaller than i was looking forward to. I was hoping a bit that it would spread out to the whole west side of the map and connecting to fontain and sumeru.
