So a couple of weeks ago, I was researching German pillow brands that offer their take on like classic distortion pedal. And one of those brands I came across were Fieldfare Audio from Köln/Cologne and asked them to send me their reactor pedal and this is their version of a Big Muff style circuit.
So they not only did send me this, but also the Antares which is their overdrive pedal. And there's another video that I'm working on currently, but I thought in the meantime, I would use these two to make a song. So I experimented a little bit with using these on guitar, which mainly I use the reactor on the guitars and the Antares,I put on this thing. So this is my machine plus.
And so I use the Antares on, and I use the Antares on all the drum parts in the track. And I think it really shows how you can manipulate your drum samples to have a little bit of a grittier vibe to them. I love coming out with my own sounds, which when I got into beat making and music production, I would experiment a lot with guitar plugins. I didn't have any physical gear back then, but I was using all those guitar effects, on drums, on synths, on basically everything. And that really was my entry into sound design.
Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick. Also, this was kind of a test run for potentially streaming. I realized it was far more complicated recording the music and also trying to do commentary.
Maybe I felt particularly anxious about doing creative work. And so I apologize for the kind of awkward silence on my behalf.(...) (upbeat music)
So the way I use the overdrive on the drums is basically the settings you can see right here. Lot of level, lots of low end for the kick, especially highs for the pronunciation and not so much gain, but more so the high end to make the drums pop out more. And also I experimented with the fat and clear, which to get different kinds of sounds, which I thought which cleared out a lot of mud. So on the guitars, I used the reactor. As you can see, I maxed out the gain and then used the volume on the guitar to clean up a little bit. So you don't have the full on squash of the circuitry. Also, I used the scoop knob on the leady sort of layering at the end. I was very pleasantly surprised how I could use, you know, both these pedals for different applications and get the sounds out of them that I did. So thanks again for a feel fair audio for sending these over. I'm not getting paid to do this video. I asked them to send me their pedals for this test. If you're interested, go check them out. I will have their links down below. Thanks for watching. I'm Mereika Jikryolu and I will see you real soon.
