I played the loudest amp ever. JPTR FX TITAN 250

  • Here’s my clean tone.
So good morning everybody, it is the morning after what probably has been one of the crazier experiences I had in my musical life. What you saw me playing through was, not just one but two Jupiter FX Titan AMPs which have like a million watts, and then those were going through an 8x10 bass cab and 2 412 guitar cabs.
So exactly what is the Titan anyway? The Titan is Jupiter FX's brainchild of insanity, if I may say so. It's an amp with 250 watts of power, which...
It all makes sense when you listen to Chris explain on how and why he designed that amp, the way it is. Because it's not about loudness. Of course, he jokingly says it right, it's insane and it's super loud and aha. The main focus here is on not losing any fidelity or resolution, if you want to say so.
I'll admit right away that I was a little bit on the fence, did not get the whole concept behind it, because I'm, I guess, not being in the Doom or Sludge Realm or whatever. Just the insane volume that you kind of associate with those kind of genres didn't appeal to me, because it's not about just louders better and all that. Being loud in loud concerts are definitely fun, don't get me wrong, but I guess I get it now.
This was really an experience you cannot really convey through video or audio in any shape or form. There's just this power in the room you feel when you're standing right in front of that thing and it was scary. I didn't know what to expect other than the loud and the thing is Chris is turning that thing up and it's already loud and he turns it up a little bit more and it's just like, how, like where do we go from here? And the loudest he ever turned those amps up to was about halfway. Knowing that it was only half of what those amps could do is even more scary, I'll tell you that much.

I had them in at the beginning. But here comes the weird thing: it was stupid loud, but it never was unpleasant. I had experiences going to concerts where one would be great, whilst being loud and another show at the same venue where it was just hurting my ears.
Sure that comes down to the FOH too, which is not something we have in the equation here. But I guess im a trying to say that loudness did not translate to unpleasant frequencies but just straight "power". Not sure how to explain it properly :D

@@melihkalecikliogluOkay right, but here's the thing: what makes loudness unpleasant is the high frequencies that get distorted and therefore become really "piercing" to the ears. High quality speakers, unlike the ones you will find at a lot of venues, do not have this. They stay nice and even across the board and by doing this kinda mask their volume. This does not mean that they are not harmful! They will still put a lot of strain on your ears and are even a lot more dangerous because you can't tell as easily when they get too loud! Earplugs are still very much necessary here...

Definitely not about just watts either because the fender MH is 500 w

That's 550 watts solidstate. Not the same thing. 250 watts tube is much much louder.

@@asymmetrymedia9838 Not true. And also totally defies and contradicts the definition of power and wattage.
So, if properly measured a 100watt tube amp will sound as loud as a 100 wat ss amp, if palyed through the same speaker.

a 100w plexi is by far louder then a for example class d 100w transistor amp @@luis0323

@@luis0323 Yes yes i'm aware. I worded it wrong. A watt is a watt. It's how they are measured in relation to distortion. But for the layman, the experience is still that: a solid state amp and a tube amp rated at the same wattage won't be equally as loud

Also I want to mention it’s 250w Sinus so clean it’s way more distorted
