They really are good stones for the money they're just not aggressive enough in my opinion and I would rather put you know another $25 with it and get me two atoma stones be it a 140 and 600 or 400 and 1200. The main thing I suggest is to get away from that super crappy chromium oxide stropping compound and get you a bottle of diamond emulsion. There is some on blade binge for 23 a bottle and it's the best diamond emulsion I've ever used, better than gunny juice and equal to stroppystuff but at half the price for twice as much. I ordered the 6pk from her for 120 on blade binge and got 15, 9, 5, 3, 1, 0.1 micron about a year ago and I still have like 80% left and I'm a professional sharpener that sharpens on average 15 knives a day for clients. That progression has taken my edges to a whole new level and I'm so glad I bought it. Lacey makes a great product and is a hell of a great free hand sharpener.
