I didn't like how easily Jaime & Bronn escaped. Them swimming that far without being detected seems highly unlikely.

Exactly, lazy is the correct word. I really love GoT so I'm trying really hard not to be overly critical of the writing, but there's been a few other moments this season where I"m left shaking my head at the choices they've made. Hopefully the last two episodes are a bit more consistent.

CollectorsFix Yeah it is a bit sad that theyre making obvious blunders but they have to condense a lot of the plot in fewer episodes so.... mistakes will be made I guess. I'll let it slide since game of thrones doesn't do this often.

*+CollectorsFix* I agree, it would've been much better if they were snatched up by Drogon and then Tyrion didn't have to arrange that meeting. It would've felt much more natural.

My stupid theories: The attempt to bring a Wight past The Wall is going to open a Pandora's Box and work drastically to The Night Kings advantage. Arya will kill Little Finger and assume his identity. Sam has the scroll that has the secret of Valerian steel and Gilley has the parchment that has the secret of Rhaegar and Lyanna's marriage and Jon's birth. Gendry will forge weapons of Valerian steel and Hot Pie will die---after making several hot pies.

I agree with you mostly. I think it had a few weak links, like it feeling kinda rushed at times, but Gendry returning made it a lot better. Good to see Robert Baratheon 2.0. Enjoyed the Jon-Gendry banter, too.

Best review for the episode I've come across so far. I totally agree about Robert. Rhaegar was starting to sound like a pretty good dude, via Selmy... I had been hoping Elia had been on board with the second marriage, since Dorne's polyamorous ways are emphasized. But I guess Oberyn was right, that Rhaegar did leave Elia for another person. Prophecy or not, that's pretty shady. Elia died alone and in one of the most terrible ways a person could. Perhaps Robert wasn't as 'dreamy' as Rhaegar, but he overthrew a kingdom for the honor of a woman he loved. That makes him one of the few characters in the books/show with such a good heart.
Seeing Gendry take on so many of his traits, and embracing his lineage makes me so happy. I also love the potential parallel of Jon and Gendry becoming best buds, and Gendry taking Arya's hand in marriage, Jon's 'sister' (as far as they know, anyway), sort of like the original plan for Robert & Lyanna, Ned's sister and best friend. I hope we don't lose Gendry next episode. Fingers crossed that his line to Arya way back when, "You would be my lady" is one of those foreshadowed lines. That is likely some heavy wishful thinking on my part, though!

Sincerely, I think that Arya was unnecessarily antagonistic towards Sansa. I can see where she s coming from, but to bother her with her with things like taking the room of their parents (she IS the Lady of Winterfell, after all). I mean, Sanaa's deep desires are not really relevant, Jon is the King in the North and by all means, she is not trying to be much more than the Lady of Winterfell, is not really her fault that Lord Glover can't make up his mind.

Duuuuude, can't believe how positive you are about this episode! The capture a wight mission seems like the dumbest most contrived BS. Tyrion should know his sister well enough that even an impending undead massacre won't stop her from working towards Danys demise.
Not only that, but assembling a crack team of 7 or 8 guys and sending them into a harsh wilderness where they know an undead army is massing, is surely a ridiculous suicide mission.
Are they just hoping they'll be able to find one by itself? and then run away quickly if they encounter more? What about the crazy stamina of the undead? they'd surely be chased down and butchered especially if they were dragging back a struggling wight.
And though it was cool to see Gendry again, his involvement at this point is nonsense. Lets be clear, Gendry has had very little training in arms. He's a goddamn blacksmith. He might've gotten some handy tips when he was with the brotherhood without banners, but they shipped him off to dragonstone pretty damn quick. And to show him suddenly being a badass with a warhammer is absurd.
How about this idea guys: Leave tyrion, the unsullied and the dothraki in the south to defend the castles they currently hold. Dany, Fly up to winterfell and have the forces from the north and the vale meet you at eastwatch. Use your men to fill out the castles and burn the shit out of the undead army with your motherfucking dragon.

micoo iscoo I agree with some of the stuff your saying. And yea, it's a little weird that this dude Gendry is an expert fighter now, but, I don't know, I still think it's possible he could be a bad ass with a hammer. When he was headed to the Wall, he threatened to take a swing at Hot Pie with his hammer to see if he'll sing like the metal does, and I totally believed he would've smashed his ass to death then. I feel like Melisandra telling him about his King's Blood and giving him the confidence in being something more than a soldier was the last push he needed to become the great fighter he was meant to be. It's been a couple of years since we last saw him and he's still swinging a hammer. I'm sure he picked up an extra thing or two. Enough to smash dudes heads in. But, of course, 'tis just my own personal opinion.

micoo iscoo I agree with pretty much everything, but Warhammer don't require much training to use, and in comparison they were very cheap to make compared to swords.

    • @ComradeCommissarYuri
      @ComradeCommissarYuri 7 лет назад +4

micoo iscoo about them only sending 7 to 8 men to capture a wight got to think from their perspective if they all died that's only 7 to 8 men added to the wight army, if they did say another great ranging of 300 men that would end up with a lot more men to possibly die and turned to wights to go south

    • @ComradeCommissarYuri
      @ComradeCommissarYuri 7 лет назад +3

micoo iscoo also the unsullied will soon be having to not defend casterly rock as there is no food there so they should technically be marching across the westerlands

I agree that Rhaegar and Lyanna handled that whole situation poorly. I just wonder Lyanna's reactions every time she received news of how her actions made her family perish and suffer. Not to mention the thousand warriors and innocents that died in the Rebellion. And then also what their actions caused for Rhaegar's family.
Robert was a hot head that could never be loyal to a woman and no business being king, but he was slighted without explanation. What else could you have expected from him?
I am curious as to why Rhaegar annulled the marriage with Elia. I'm thinking the show would give us the simple answer that it was all for true love, but I think there may be more. Perhaps in the books.

I absolutely agree 100% that this episode is probably my #1 or 2 favorite... so far. I wasn't really excited about this season when it ended on kind of a dud at the end of season 6. I decided that I would catch up a binge watched all of season 7. No more stupid High Sparrow and the Faith Militant. The Stark's going around trying to find help from Ramsey and the Bolton's. All that time could of been spent on other things. I'm really starting to like Arya Stark. That fight with Breane was pretty cool. Ice and Fire meet and leave and the Mighty Merry Band march out into god knows what. One thing they didn't touch on is how exactly they made the dragon glass into weapons. I guess the best way would be arrows? Little finger should be killed off. Always making so much damn trouble with the Stark's. Anyway, ya Thanks for this rap up!

  • @nodinitiative

For moment 3: King Jon should have been there. Im 100% sure Randyll would not bend the knee but he would agree to join Jon to fight in the North and Jon could sure use all of those soldiers. Plus, Dickon has proven himself to be a brave and skillful soldier, in which Jon really needs.
For Moment 2: are you kidding me??? It would be Dany who will betray Cersei in their "ceasefire talk". Dany does not respect "peace talks", ever since season 3, she has used "peace talks" and i think, she double cross her "enemies" 3 times. Maybe in episode 7, Dany will use one of Dragons to simply eat Cersei alive.

  • @jonserra3115

It is quite obvious that Jon's quest beyond the Wall is just a way to get rid of secondary characters. This is especially apparent with Davos staying behind. I bet the only one to return will be Johny Snow, with the others sacrificing themselves.

I don´t know why, but this was the first episode in the entire series that I watched the clock ticking instead of focusing on the plot. I has devolved so much that by now it has no sense and little interest. Sure I will watch the whole thing, but the sake of duty, not fun.

I enjoyed it a lot. My main complaint is that it ended too soon.
    I wanted it be longer.
I don't think Jon Snow will become the King.
Even if he is offered it because of being a Targaryan, I think he won't accept it but instead give it to someone else.
Jon doesn't strike me as the Kingly type with the exception of being the King in the North, but we'll see.

Dany is more like Aegon than her father, in westeros you take what you can, when you can, how you can. This is a war she is fighting and the people need to see what happens to those who oppose her power. Loyalty won through dragon fire is her only option and worked for the targaryens for 300 years even after the last dragons death.

Good stuff man, I love watching your videos and hearing your responses to each episode. I've seent a fuckload of people hating on this episode too, and I have to disagree with it. This episode had tons of cool stuff and pushed the plot along further than any episode this season so far. The direction I thought the wars against Cersei and the Night King were heading have completely changed and I love that. It's what I've always loved about Game of Thrones, the unpredictability of the story. And not many people have been to into Gendry's return either, but I've been looking forward to it since he left Dragonstone. I love the Baratheon's, I loved his relationship with Arya, and I can't wait to see him tear shit up with that hammer. Also, I don't agree that this episode was rushed or forced (I've been hearing that a lot too). It was a faster pace than we're used too forsure, but I got more of the sense that the characters were rushing themselves because of Bran's warning of the army approaching. After that council meeting, the episode went fast as fuck and you saw all the characters acting quickly and doing what needed to be done to end the Night King.
So, basically, I thought it was pretty cool. And that's my two pents on it, if anyone gives a fuck.
P.S. Your theory about the Golden Company is the one I'm shipping right now
P.P.S. You're voice is the tits

I was under the impression that Jaime had died. I mean, I'm glad he's not, but there was no way that Bronn swam the entire length of the lake carrying Jaime in full armour. Some good plot stuff happened in this episode, and it was cool seeing characters from different sub-plots come together at the end like that, but I think this was one of the weaker episodes of the season.

Im totally with you! This episode is full off paradox scenes espacilly when you think about all that have happend since the start. I agree with you that the scene with Jon and Gendry is one off the best in the series! Thou i think the prison scene was full off ironi. John with the sword that once belonged to the mormont familiy, tormund being suprised to meet his old enemys son etc.
However, the best line this episode is: Do you know how to use a sword? No. Thats a problem. I prefer a warhammer!

What else can you seriously expect from her, if her enemies are gonna reject an offer as so merciful as being sent to the wall instead of being executed then you can't expect anything else. You can argue all you want about it not being a choice at all but it's a hell of a lot better than killing them all and not giving them a chance to server again wheather it be out of fear or not she is no where near to beng like her father. Her fathe tortured and burned people alive for fun whilst Daenarys gave Randal and his son quick deaths which could be argued to be more humane than other execution methods such as hanging like Jon carried out.

first, from all i have read in the books it cant be that easy to set aside this marriage (unlike the tyrion-sansa marriage)

I think it was a great episode but i disagree with you on one point. Randyls actions do not make any sense. He fought for Denerys' father, being one of his most competent generals and even defeating Robert at the battle of Ashford. Why would he dispise someone he was ready to die for. Either he has no honor or the writers forgot that he supported Lanisters during Roberts rebellion...

this episode was slower than ep4, but ep4 was one of the faster episode's i have seen, i loved gendry coming back, that made the episode for me, i also liked how davos acknowledged the joke about gendry still rowing. but about jon snow and companions, it's not really that epic of a mission, if there smart about it they wont even have to go near the main force of ww, just kill some random wildling, wait for how ever long it takes for a dead body to turn into a wight, like what happened in castle black, capture it with ropes and done and dusted. back down south
that probably wont happen, because it's jon snow were talking about the guy who didn't give Wun Wun any sort of weapon, even if he had just given him a large stick he could have done maga damage.

Bro, I love your channel, but there are so *many* hints (within the show) that Dany and Jon are going to join through marriage. Over two episodes, they've hinted about their infatuation with one another; even so much so that D&D have mentioned writing in their romantic scenes in the 'Inside the Episode' commentary. Dany and Jon will be married in the end. The audience has been groomed throughout *all* six seasons that incestuous relationships - through Cersie and Jamie - are deemed acceptable because if their strong, intimate love. It's not so far reaching to think that Dany and Jon will develop those same affections - regardless of them not knowing that she is his aunt - and marry to unite both Queendoms and Kingdoms.

They're not capturing the wight to show it to Cersei, they are doing it to show the whole court. If Cersei doesn't fight back people will revolt.

awww yeahhh. yeah i wish they'd stop saying they don't want to take the red keep by force. They spent all the previous seasons establishing that she needed an army to get the throne back, and now all her advisors are being all reluctant.

Seriously, you liked Robert? He started a war because his "betrothed" wasn't interested in him and ran off with a prince.

Victor Gutierrez The continuent of Westros belived that lyanna was captured by Rhaegar. So it makes sense that robert would believe that she was kidnapped.

You do know the mad king Aerys ordered Jon Aryn to kill Robert and Ned after killing Ned's dad and brother?Areys started the war.

+Victor Gutierrez That's not why the war started, that's what made everyone mad. The war started because the mad king killed the Starks and ordered the death of Ned and Robert.

There were definately good scenes in this episode, but there were several plot holes in the so, it was my least favorite of the season, although I can't call any GOT episode bad

  • @Blazecap

Overall I say the worst episode it did have good parts like Danny acting like her father, but every thing else was bad. It slow, forced, rushed, made no sense, and no character development that seemed worthwhile. This is sad because I expect the writing to be on point... too bad d&d gave after season 3...

I'm the really the complete opposite. I really don't like Robert Baratheon. I even rate him as one of the worst rulers of Westeros. To me he's Aegon the Unworthy come again. Useless aside from waging war, whoring and hunting.

I to LOVED this episode, don't get why people hate it. sure there was not so much action in it(some just loves to complain & GOT fans are pretty spoiled) & it was VERY fast. Like the time-turner has being totally trown out the window now xD other then that I loved it.
Will say though Arya annoyed the HELL out of me in this episode, franly I hated her here(sad because I loved her before this season minus her absolutely brutal tourture she does to her victims & seems to be enjoying it). I have known she was absolutely nuts, not in a positive way, ever since she butchered Meryn Trant(He desearved to die, totally, but it was not normal). Wanting to call for the heads for both the lords of the north & the Vale. Questioning Sansa like hell? All she ever wanted was her family back, now she basically ask Sansa if she is gonna commit treason against Jon? She just again distanced herself from Sansa with that! Great job Arya...If she just goes against Sansa because of a letter, she will have destroyed everything that was left of the family she has being craving for to return to since season 2.
I know am jumping forward here, but lets see:) hopefully am just being a little paranoid & Arya is gonna proove to her sister that she to is a grown up now & not just a looney who enjoys blood.
I still think ONE more stark will die, to me I want it to be Arya right now, IFF I have to choose one:)

Am I the only one who's pretty disappointed with this season so far? It's been decent but it's been filled with things that simply do not make sense. Also it feels very rushed. It seems to be more about the spectacle than the story.
