You can see on his helmet recording that when he was transported to the library by spark, it had been 60 hours since he escaped the autumn. He spent almost three days alone in the snow before being thrust into the flood filled hellscape. Seeing that the biomass is missing in the final library, I assume him clearing the place of combat forms allowed spark to reactivate the sentinels and begin cleaning up the flood, making the library easier for chief. What a trooper
He fought well. And he ultimately helped to clear the way for Chief

@@maldino2917 nah,, the outbreak was far to recent for biomass to be gathering. Considering 343 guilty spark still had control over his ring (it wasn't until the covenant and then keyes that they got unleashed) Its clear the flood when it did reach the point of gathering mass, priotised gathering it on ways to get off the ring as seen in the covenant ship with keys, I imagine if 343 had been as rampant as delta halos monitor and unable to control them with his sentinals then we would have seen the flood build a gravemind in the library to keep an eye on the key to prevent any reclaimer from accessing it like in delta halos.

We find Marvin with Rocket ordinance as well so dude was definitely packing firepower.
Is it weird I imagine it as a COD Zombies style scenario wherein Marvin gets supplied for every hour he survives? The extra stuff is what Guilty Spark finds across the Halo ring, mostly from crashed lifeboats and human survivors that didn't make it.
Marvin was one hardass son of a bitch. Also, you do a really good job at animating with the CE models.

Rumor has it SSGT Mobuto's only weakness was his mobility, which led to him being killed. The weight of his balls made it hard to maneuver to keep his head on a swivel.

In the book, chief mentioned how he was already tired and struggling in the library when he came across Mobuto’s body. He was amazed how far he came without Mark V Spartan armor or the enchancements of Spartans, he states Mobuto would have made an excellent Spartan ll.
He would have made one hell of a Spartan. "I didn't know you, Sarge, but I sure as hell wish I had. You must have been one hardass son of a bitch."

@@OhimeshinsoProbably not, since Orion project Spartans supposedly have an innate resistance to the flood. It's possible, but I honestly hope it stays that he was just a peak human. His story is even more badass without any augments whatsoever

For real. The Flood was never one of my favorite books but I absolutely loved the side stories. This is beautiful.

Without the Chief's MJOLNIR, you can't afford to be hit once by the Flood and a running battle is probably the only way to stay ahead of them without getting bogged down and overrun easily (and waiting for Spark to take his sweet time opening the Library's blast doors = death). I like how this shows even the space battle over Halo, the boarding of the Autumn from the eyes of a Marine, the brutality of the Covenant executing injured suvivors, and how he escaped the lifeboat.
Marvin Mobuto would’ve made a badass Spartan 4. Even the Chief admitted that he was reaching the limits of his Spartan strength even in mjornir armor when he spotted Mobuto’s remains.
I think one of the things people tend to forget with this though, is that yeah the marine had been *surviving* for those 3 days, but most likely managed to avoid heavy combat. Chief was stuck in some of the heaviest fighting on the Ring day in and day out even before he came on the flood, and once he started fighting the flood, it didnt quit until they managed to escape. Not saying the Marine isnt a badass cause he definitely was, but the chief was goin through a special kind of hell.
Always thought it was insane that a regular, un-augmented human soldier made it so far into the Library when the player, in the boots of a 7ft tall superhuman in a suit of MJOLNIR power armor trained from 7 years old to kill, was struggling to push through. Loved this style of environmental story-telling.
Great work bringing in the context for it! Loved how you showed the marines, crew, and ODSTs do their fighting retreat off the Autumn and how without much dialogue you built up these characters (mostly Mobuto and that Medic). Love love loved it.
He was that much of a badass. Goes to show how awesome unaugmented humans can be. Never underestimate the little guy
I love how you tell the lesser-known stories in Halo lore. Bungie really did a great job with environmental storytelling & it's so great to finally see how they unfolded. This video alone is deserving of a million views at least

Thank you for this glorious video. On side note, Sergeant Marvin Mobuto, if memory serves, was suppose to wear an ODST helmet at the end. SPV stated he managed to find it from one of the fallen ODST's and use it to keep the Flood puss out of his mouth. Kind regards.

Not gonna lie this was really cool. I only recently found out about this marine in Halo lore and then saw this to solidify it. He really was a badass and hearing MC say that at the end was kinda hilarious

Damn really shows how ruthless the covenant actually was compared to the games.
Ive read some books describing it but actually seeing it on video is different. That soldier taking a plasma pistol shot point blank into the face really shocked me.
And the Banshees shooting down the lifeboat too. The back had to blown open into molten slag if it was a live action scene.

Halo CE was my very first game on Xbox, the very first game i owned (and not borowed on my brother playstation, or his gameboy). It was love at first sight, something like 20 years ago.
Watching your video litteraly made the little boy i was coming to the surface. Pure joy, pure immersion. Exactly as a felt the first time i landed on the ring after escaping the Pillar of Automn. Thank you NotPipi !

This and breaking quarantine that you made are my two most favorite animations you have done. I keep rewatching them both over and over again like unforseen alliance. I just now literally noticed you snuck some badass ODSTs with the iconic visors over the old marine models and I think they looked amazing like how we would have first seen them if they were in combat evolved. Good shit brother.

When Chief found Marvin’s body, he was shocked. Chief in armour and having superhuman physiology was nearing the limits of his endurance and there was Marvin. He called him a hard ass SOB
I heard Marvin's story, helluva SSGT... Also, huge props to the editing work, it's fantastic, the Halo CE cutscenes we deserved...
Rip staff sgt Marvin Mobuto you fought hard and long war probably since the first battle of the inserections and probably first contact with the Covent on harvest from every fallen planet to planet reach to the halo ring you fought courage with your men now its time for you to rest you past down the torch by showing humanity that we can end the human and Covent war and end the flood and your story will live on, on the fallen wall of fame of soldiers so sacrifice there lives for earth and its colonies and unsc will tell your heroic stories about you

Super stoked to see you finished this, great work! I always found the brief appearance (and following dialogue) of Mobuto to be a small gem of The Flood. It brought with it some level of mystery and allows the reader to imagine or- such as in your case- even tell the rest of us about him, how he got there, etc.

I think of that, all of the legends like mobuto, the rookie from odst, lone wolf from reach, such amazing stories and too bad they never were able to fight together with the chief. But the role each of them played allowed for the chief to finish the fight. Too bad mobutos death was in vain, a waste to send him to the hellpit that is the library. At least he inspired and made a big mark on the chief

I’m glad that there are dedicated creators out there like you and Sodaz willing to tell the untold tales of unsung heroes in this franchise while adding a few extra things here and there. That’s how I know that you’re a real fan of Halo, not like those pretentious a-holes at Paramount that tried to sell schlocky goop that was the Halo tv series. Keep up the amazing work!

To this day, I still think 343 shouldve had master chief make simulations where spartan IVs had to run through em, each and every one of these "missions" are derived from his experience in halo 1-4. they should have scores and shit.
SIIs did more than just pass them cuz reasons. Some would even have better points than he would in other fields. Like sniping, melee and fastest to finish. Some even fail once or twice.
SIVs would find the level "library" literally impossible to complete tho. Maybe even give the one who completes it like a "ghost" sequence where they get to see what chief did and what were originally shown as standard covenant turns into the flood
The only nit picks I have is that the Ammo counter showed 0 when he aimed at Guilty Spark and rocket launchers create big shockwaves when fired so realistically the marines should’ve given that dude more space when he shot the SPNKR

This is why Halo is not a spartan story. The fanbase being this dedicated to a single badass marine only known by a few sentences in a halo novel is revered as one badass marine that'd make sergeant johnson nervous. Wish I knew you Sarge, you must've been a hardcore son of a bitch.
This what I love about Halo, we all know we can’t count with those dumb ass executives in charge of our beloved universe, but we can always count with our community which continues the legacy with such quality and just for love and not monetary interests

did enjoy the scene of the Autumn actually fighting. for ce visuals animation is well done, things like voice lines are a bit to fast imo but don't take away from the animation itself. I legit did not know about this marine for the longest time. the library was always a mission I just rushed through, if it was mentioned in the books I just skimmed past it. turning the library into a proper flood infested area was a nice detail
The cinematics of this fan made animation demonstrates that Halo going to T was a big mistake. This video alone captures the horror of the human covenant war better than any 343 content has.

Haven't read that book since it came out in 2000's. Have totally forgot it all. I should go back and reread them. The books were so good.

I would already have my adrenaline pumping, and without the augmentation as a spartan , bro had all that armour and wasn’t near chiefs agility

Remember how horrifying your first playthrough of The Library was as a kid. Think about how your hands were shaking just playing it. Now think about how the Chief was canonically terrified of the Flood. Now... think about how it would be to go through this without the energy shields or advanced armor, as a simple human. This is far worse than any zombie apocalypse. The only mercy is that he was so mutilated that even the Flood couldn't use what was left, so he died and stayed dead.

It's his programming. The original lore for Bungie Halo was that humans actually are Forerunners. That's why humans could interact with the technology. Guilty Spark tells the Chief in Halo 3 "You are Forerunner." Spark was totally confused when Chief didn't know what the Halo rings were intended to do. "You already knew that. I mean, how couldn't you?" To Spark, the humans on the ring were Forerunners coming back to reclaim their property, hence "reclaimer."

I like to think he got hit with that rocket launcher which was being wielded by the combat form on this level when you get closer to his "body". The reason his body was so mutilated by the end with nothing to use for the flood was because he got blasted to kingdom come. At least, that way, he suffers no pain, and no flood form takeover.

I really like how you added flood biomass to the library walls and floor.
It was cool to hear the marines firing in burst, and when a more dangerous threat came like the hunters, they switch to full auto😎
The ODST helmets looked great!
I noticed when he pulls out the knife in the escape pod you play some foreboding music from the game, that was really perfect!!
The plasma burns looked really great, and it was interesting to see a marine impaled with a piece of metal.
Mobuto being snow covered and starting a fire to sleep was a nice touch.
I think the way he met spark and went with him was believable, so congratulations on figuring out a good way to do that.
The H2 music when he finally dies is so sad, and I really appreciate Master Chief's lines from the book that you put in, as a huge Halo fan I absolutely love this.
You said you might do alpha base later with more fighting, it would be cool to include private Jenkins and his transformation into the flood, starting with the helmet cam cutscene from the game💚

Honestly, I would love to see the last stand of Alpha Base and the scene on the Covenant cruiser with flood-form Jenkins, Lt. Melissa McKay, and Major Antonio Silva. Anyone who has read the book know what scene I am referencing and what it meant. For those who haven't, believe me it's a scene worth seeing played out. While not heavy in action, its depth in character moments cannot be overstated and putting it up with like of The Journey of Marvin Mobuto and the Unforeseen Alliance with the marines and jackals in their last stand.
@@danielbeck2739 dude I agree 100%. He could even have 2 stories running simultaneously, 1 story arc is the fighting at alpha base and the other story is Jenkins or Silva. That way, there would still be plenty of action mixed in.
Man that part you are talking about is definitely one of the more emotional parts of the book
@@chipsdubbo5.56 Here is the thing, McKay did take part in the last stand of Alpha Base, it had been overrun by not the Covenant but the Flood. Jenkin's intel and connection to the Flood helped her in that regard since she was able to organize the defenses more efficiently to pull out once the base was lost which she knew was going to happen. Silva had led the capture on cruiser pretty close to that time and what was left of Alpha Base was to rally with Silva's forces. Bringing Jenkins with and then that scene some point after that took place. Though another scene to consider was one of the initial assaults on Alpha Base that she and Chief took part in the defense of. There was moment after the fight and after Silva being a jackass that McKay and Chief have a small chat. Nothing major, but she did show a level of respect to Chief that other ODSTs didn't. Hell, end of the book when chief is last one standing, he even thinks back to her. Indicating he did respect her to a degree.
I thought it was implied that Mobuto was separated from his squad so he was with other survivors, though how he got separated or when are unclear, or if he linked up with another squad, before 343GS took him.
Marvin Mobuto was one Hardcore UNSC marine!. Equipped with nothing but standard issue ballistic armor and a MA5B assault rifle, he fought off and survived countless waves of flood; dying just within arms reach of the index…
and we only see him use one mag in the MA5B which was (most likely) not the one he was carrying on board the autumn, which led to his pistol stand
I'm pretty sure in the book he was found with (and implied to have been using) a shotgun.
He probably had sentinels helping him too, like they did for the mc

2:34 badass seeing the MAC gun take out a covenant ship, and then seeing (what I assume) are 3 nukes launching...sick!!! I know in the books the UNSC use nuclear weapons in addition to their MAC guns😎

From what I heard, Pillar of Autumn was even special in this regard. She had a triple firing, short ranged MAC designed to break a Covie shield fast. This was in line with her mission to hijack a Covenant ship with a full company of Spartan 2s
