  • Welcome back for another Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, A Song of Ice and Fire, and Fire and Blood video. In this video, I will be reading a few pages from George R.R. Martin's most recent book, Fire and Blood. What happened to Aerea Targaryen has to be one of the most shocking and mysterious events in all of A Song of Ice and Fire. There are many different theories surrounding Princess Aerea Targaryen's death, but no one really knows what happened... Check out the video, and let me know what you think down below. Thanks for watching!

    I have a theory. In short, Aerea was likely surviving on the scraps that balerion left her, since we know she survived a year with him. The things he fed on likely had parasites that would have normally infected dragons. The worms inside her were parasites meant to inhabit dragons and not humans, and eventually she was so full of them that it killed her.

The Black Dread scooped her up, but was attacked himself, in the process. It's likely a full-grown and ancient Fire Wyrm. Dragons were a hybrid the Valyrians created by mixing wyverns and fire wyrms. Think of these Wyrms as being gigantic and long draconic monsters that can't fly but can burrow in the earth.

    @RoadKamelot2nd 3 года назад +84

    Valyrians were powerful mages. They used magic for literally everything. My assumption is that they pretty much over-saturated the entire area with magical energies. These energies tore apart the Valyrian peninsula and left it a daemon-infested wasteland. Baleryon might have been forced to land by a daemon powerful enough to injure him and while he battled the daemon, lesser ones infested Aerea as parasites. They essentially used her body to feed on during the earliest stadium of growth (akin to the emerald wasp larvae, which hatch from eggs laid into a paralyzed cockroach, which is then eaten alive from the inside by the larvae).
    The closest inhabited city to the former Freehold is Mantarys, and its population is suffering from severe disfigurements and mutations, very likely caused by the still lingering magic energies which manifested as the Doom and obliterated Valyria.

    I think Balerion was most likely returning to his birthplace... someting all dragons of old and "wild" seems to do along their lives. When they are allowed to live outside captivity they seem to go on long travels either alone, or with someone, as we see with Drogon himself. He probably didn't mean to carry this rider, yet Dragons are very human like in their thoughts and intelligence and wont abandon a rider they have bonded with for one reason or another. He had to keep her safe as he possibly could I guess. He came back to possibly Asshai'i, where magic and bloodrights and scarifice of ones own self is all that belongs. There is no children in Asshai'i. None. There is no sunlight. No sounds of life. "Inhabitants" walk around alone, scarce and chanting. Its a very inhuman place where Dragons are still to be believed to inhabit. This is where the Mages and Blood Worms and Worlocks all try and claim their own strong powers... often ending up creating horrific things. Maybe someone or something tried to cease Balerion and The Princess to preform a serious Bloodright ritual? She refused, so the "Blood of The Dragon" and a "Virgin Pure Blood Princess" could of been spilt in some sickening way? She didn't give up her own power it seems so she in turn forfeight her own life... in a horrendous way. Parasidic invasion of herself is obvious. I don't know if this could of happened as a result, or of a result of the inhumane surroundings that not even a Dragon could of Balrions size and strength could get away from unscathed. totally something to do with maybe being called into the depths of a Volcano itself or something... where some infection caught hold. WOW.

      @@lilscho Great question! Back a year later after watching the finale of House of the Dragons. If Valyria is where Balerian was originally from, who or what there would hate them so much as to injure and try to kill him? It's said that other entities or creatures also lived there, most assuredly people who did black magic. I don't think what happened to them was by accident, someone or some thing did this to them. For what purpose or reason, I don't know. Did they know who she was and put the fireworms in her on purpose, in hopes that they would attack other targaryens? Or did they not know who she was and did this as a form of punishment for something she said or did? And then Balerion tried to defend her and was attacked. We hadn't heard about these fireworms since. No other magic user that we've heard of ever brought them for again. It could have been a form of revenge or retaliation against the Targaryens. Because it's such a mystery, it's an interesting story that I think actually should be told in live action.

      @@ginaflynn910 Princess Aerea has a younger, identical twin sister, Rhaella Targaryen. The theory goes that the two princesses switched places after Aerea had visited her, as her personality seemingly did a 180 degree turn over night.
      Princess Aerea, as a young child, was shy and timid. She was quick to cry and often wet the bed. She was frightened of horses, boys with loud voices, men with beards and dancing and was absolutely terrified of dragons.
      Her sister, Rhaella on the other hand was her complete opposite. She was lively, bold, wilful, quick-witted and adventurous, and was a terror to her septal. She loved dogs, horses and dragons.

    I always thought that she ended up in Gogossos just thinking of the worms with faces. Since it is rumored that the bloodmages forced enslaved women to bear monstrous creatures fathered by beasts. The Valyrians were the total opposites of the Other. Beautiful fire made flesh. What if they were the results of dragon and human couplings? Until a group of the hybrids is born that are able to pass as human. Unnaturally beautiful in looks but human none the less. As an added bonus since they are the literal blood of the dragon they have a connection with the dragons that no one else can boast. A Prime example of this is the "Psycho" shower scene by the legendary Alfred Hitchcock. Imagine a creature strong and large enough to severely injure the black dread......made like a worm, but scalding hot...so horrible that preyed upon young maidens....keep imagining more details and you can begin to understand my point. And balerion was probably attacked by one of those fire wyrms they grow very large just like dragons so some that were bigger than him attacked him. There are living things still in Valyria mutated men just like the ones on that sohorys island but even worse. And that is what destroyed Valyria, all Thier experiments broke out and destroyed them and the volcanoes probably erupted
