    You missed the big reason they don't want to have employees in public in Japan right now: They got caught basing merch on a Nagasaki memorial and having a character sit on it. I keep thinking Ubisoft can't get lower, but it keeps going down.

      It is a war memorial, and the society is big on respect - and hard on disrespect. It's probably looking to them as 2 kinds of disrespect (merchandising memorial - aka - a gravestone, and portraying someone climbing on same, which I **think** is portraying someone committing a crime with said memorial) - don't expect good reactions from the merch.

    • @BVidwatcher
      @BVidwatcher 7 часов назад +5

      So I have to wonder, how big of a reaction would we see a from the politician of the D.I.E.T committee? Before they were doing a wait and see position, so are they going to take some preemptive action due this disrespect?

    Wait! Wasn't the narrative up until now that it's only western "wacists", pretending to be japanese, that were "offended" by strong independent black queers that don't need no huwite cis males, or something?
    Why then cancel Tokyo game Show? Does not compute.

      There was already 1-2 months ago quite the heat in japanese news that even the government was involved primarly about this one professor who faked japanese wiki history pages since ~2012 and used these sources in his lecture books which now got banned because of altered history. Ubisofts Yasuke was a smaller part of his fakes. Which means that Ubisoft could just have been another victom of him because they did a sloppy research like using chinese architecture, wrong flags etc.

    there is simply stating "African samurai" without listing out the contentious nature of that statement. There is the mention of historical accuracy fast and loose, but without mentioning this is the first game ever to use an actual historical character as main protagonist, and the first time they constantly promoting how accurate their game is. There is mention a vocal minority, without mentioning the Japanese government actually is now involved. There is no mention about how the "researchers and historians" consist of basically a few people, with most of them already disappeared and not defending the position...
