I wonder where is the modern audience at. They keep saying that people like us whining about force diversity in game and complain about how the West make female characters look ugly don't play game but apparently they also don't play games either.
The "modern" audience bought and played it, all 600? of them.
They want us to suffer. And it's disgusting and cowardly of them.
Fun fact: the death of Concord is actually the financial equivalent of the Costa Concordia capsizing on its maiden voyage ($570 million loss)
Sheesh i thought kill the justice league was bad
This is what happens when you abandon meritocracy.
That’s a heckuva tax write off
That shouldn't be a thing for big corporations
$400 Million? Who at Sony had that much tunnel vision on "Sunk Cost Fallacy"? 😂😮😢
It makes sense. The level of bloat and inefficiency at mega-corporations is breathtaking. You see this a lot with movies now. You ask, “Wait, HOW did you spend $200 million on the Marvels?!”
Nearly half a billion? & I thought that Justice League game from earlier in the year did poorly.
We're seeing a must needed correction in the gaming industry.
How exactly did they spend that much money on this game? People keep saying "It's not cuz da woke!" But, when you look at how much they think they should get. It's always in the 6 and 7 digit numbers.
And they also don’t like working, so it’s no surprise it took them 8 years to develop that
Probably money laundering and laziness. Half the money probably went to a corrupt company official who will never be held accountable, the other being wasted scrapping stuff and paying DEI people to not call you racist/sexist/transphobic. Not even a quarter probably made it into the games actual development.
@@reinsmano But What about the CRUNCH! THE HORRIBLE CRUNCH!! These people were the ones in school allowed to hand in work late and have no penalty, so now when there's actual deadlines they whine about it after months of doing nothing but tweeting how much better they are.
Yeah, even accounting for inflation... everyone in Firewalk studios was getting _way_ too much money to work on this game. Hell, even if some of the money was being used to keep the company afloat during the big "Pause Button" that was 2020-2021 for a lot of people (not me. I work the shipping industry so still had to go work and manage the damn supply chain.... I have a bit of a grudge with how all the _other_ essential workers were being praised non-stop, but the warehouse workers who were actually at risk never got recognition), I can't rationalize investing that much money into a single studio on an UNPROVEN game. Even $40 million over 8 years sounds like they would be getting too much, but it's a far more reasonable number then $400,000,000 for 8 years of shoddy work!
Keep in mind, when you have studio with hundreds of employees who are getting paid over the course of almost a decade without a single profit being made, all that money adds up.
I'm start thinking that some game company use 'games' as a 'money laundering activities'.
Almost half a BILLION dollars spent.
Imagine if they used that money to make smaller scale projects.
Even if a few of them failed, they still would have made profit.
I bet they fired all the competent Devs who didn't share their communist vision to put individuals who were allies to the cause while everyone played and ate for free at the company's expense, no work was done, and what they had to present was that horrible work, and I bet that to speed it up they hired a bunch of freelancers.
Lmfao $400m 🤣🤣
That's over 2 Acolytes
😂😂😂
Why does this feel like they successfully pulled off a "Producers" style scheme?
Concord is absolutely Sony's future... Bankrupt.
The first six years of development were a struggle session to determine who was the most oppressed.
This is why the PS5 Pro is $700
1400$ when you buy from scaper
And here I thought the $300 mil estimate was an over estimate.
there is no way they thought that garbage pile had a future. Ever since sony went to california they made bad decisions. Maybe its time to go back to japan Sony. Seriously, they thought the trashcan is the next tracer.
No wonder they couldnt change the character designs. They already had Anime in production, merchandise and etc. 400 mil my gosh man. They could have made an awesome killzone or Socom with that budget.
400 million is such a large budget. that amount can be used to finance multiple AA games easily and actually have a chance of making money.
Once any entertainment project, I don't care what industry, gets into the 100s of million dollars range, you KNOW money is being swindled and laundered 😅
Concord is what DEI brings to the table. If Sony would have hired on merit, this would have never happened.
Those are Rookie Numbers, we need to PUMP THOSE UP!
The failure that will live in infamy
Oopsie poopsie. Better up charge all of our consumers for controllers and consoles to make that money back. That was an actual quote in their board room meeting.
Sony will charge you to play any new console by the nanosecond for years to come to get the money back.
Yeah this is why Sony is overchargin on the PS5 Pro , accessories and releasing remaster of games that were less 7 years old. They are in deep red and trying to recover the losses. Sorry but this is not going to be good.
They were right in the end. It became another starwars. And by that I mean over spending on a product that hardly anybody cared for and lost so much money on it they canceled it. Bravo. Just like starwars right now.
Corporate America needs to realize that the days of Progressive Wokeism has had its day in the sun, and it’s sunsetting. Gen Z and Alpha aren’t about that life *at all* and The whole ideology needs to be gutted from companies if they want to survive. Bring back big boobs and shredded dude, but not together in the same character. 😂
400 mil is an INSANE number. I don't know how many games have EVER cost that much.
That's the legacy of soulless corporate suit that is Jimbo Ryan. He went all in on live service garbage and transformed Sony into a greedy, shallow husk of a once beloved and ambitious company that now despises its own customers. That's so pathetic... I'm really glad I ditched this company with the launch of the current gen. Now looking at my PS4 hurts while thinking of those last great years I spent with it before Sony transformed into a villain.
How is four hundred million dollars squandered and no legal charges be brought against the overseers at the game?
The irony of Concord being Sony's Starwars is that It's a franchise killing flop just like modern Starwars projects.
Dear IRS, we had $500 million in losses....weeell actually it was $600 million. We're going to write off the $700 million dollar loss on our taxes.
We got a few more budget busting DEI 💩to come in gaming in the next year alone. Let’s see how much more money these studios lose with their DEI fantasy.
Bioware! Ubisoft!
If you worked on a game for 8 years there was no "crunch" you just procrastinated while collecting a paycheck.
That game did NOT cost 400 mil to make. Barely even 100m. There's clearly alot of embezzlement going on in the gaming industry.
Well, when they thought they made a game for everyone... Sure it sounds bank to spend so much money..
Do you make a game for everyone, you make it for no one.
Hey, guys! Wait! Let me get my popcorn!!
It costs 400 million to have Sony in California. Maybe they should try and save some money by moving HQ to Japan.
$400 million? Makes me laugh even harder.
"For the low, low price of $400 million, you can have the privilege and prestige of playing this game for 2 weeks."
That’s a lot of cheeseburgers
I hope this finally ends the popularity of games as a service.
I hate sony
So this is great
Wish it was more tbh
$400 million was the budget..on this podcast he said that did not include the cost of the studio or the cost of marketing...Sony easily lost over half a billion dollars on this .crazy
That's 2 MCU movie flops. crazy. Except absolutely no money was clawed back
Wish I had $400 Million to piss away like thay!!!!
Imagine moving your HQ to California and completely abandoning your Japanese audience for this to happen. Just goes to show you don't have to be smart at all to be put in charge of a big company.
I have no words. I can't see this level of failure ever being topped. This is truly pathetic.
Yeah, Sony needs to see where that money went. That seems like a lawsuit.
That can’t be right, it would mean they’d have had to sell 10 million copies to just break even…
So sony gutted japanese sony studio, and reallocated it's money and resources FOR THIS?!
400 MLN $ could have given us Bloodbourne 2 and many many more other bangers, SCREW YOU SONY
Nearly half a billion?! You had proof that this game wasn't even finished and burned even more money than shut it down?! The definition of madness right there folks!
This "toxic positivity" reminds me of that movie Bros.
Everyone that was working on it really believed that the movie would me a massive success. There was a new mainstream media article praising the movie every single day. They believed that the movie would be a historical moment.
Surround yourself with "yes men" and ignore every real world criticism. This is the recipe for the modern entertainment
wasnt the original figure near 200 million? Its actually double that??? Yikes.
