+Les Hemingway I don't know what memories it could stir since it wasn't his hit to begin with. I love Neil Diamond but this is mediocre at best...and I mean by comparison. I always try to judge anything a great vocalist covers by asking myself...If you had never heard the original...would you like this one? I must say no...and I really must on this song...this just doesn't hit it for me in any way despite Neil's talent. I don't like the delivery or the arrangement but it is typically Neil..
Really, really nice version and I love Neil---- but I'll take the Walker Brothers any day of the week, month or year. Some people think the Walker version is over orchestrated but that's exactly what I love about it.
@@shawnweston4741 Oh, please. I'm one of the biggest Neil Diamond fans ever but Scott Walker's voice was one in a billion. Walker Brothers version peaked at #1, where oh where did Neil's version land?
The composers behind this tune are Bob gaudio and Bob Crewe, there would have been no Frankie Valli without those two writing most of the hits for the Four Seasons...
Didn't it get any better? I fell asleep at the 2 min mark. I mean lets be honest, it took Elvis Presley to make 'Sweet Caroline' exciting! Elvis Presley - Sweet Caroline (1970).
+Dave Radstock... Elvis was truly one of the greats of music but many of the covers he did of other people's music were almost too awful for words. When he shone brightly, not many could touch him but when he erred in his choice of songs for the many concert stages he frequented...he really blew them.
I know the Walker Brothers did this song and did it well yet I like Neil's version and heard him sing it here in town many years ago I think better than it is on this recording. Early Neil was the best but the Diamond songs now are far worse he has lost touch and his background music is not what it was back then
El Diamante és úna Joya rara?? desde cuando? que yo sepa és la Joya mas Clasica desde que el Mundo és mundo, O las traducciones son malas O la Gente no sabe de que habla.
His music has “ covered” every inch of my soul. Timeless.
I just realized after listening to this song off and on for over a week that I like it just as much as the Walker version.
Neil Diamond sounds beautiful . Great voice , Neil is number one !!!!
Neil can draw in billions of fans !!!!!
Enjoy listening to Neil Diamond all by myself !!!! Thanks for sharing your music !!!!!
Sad but what an amazingly beautiful song. And he really pours his whole heart into his music as well.
Always love the way Bob Gaudio produced some of Diamonds recordings. He had his own style.
I became a Neil Diamond fan because of my Mom and Dad.
A diamond, a rare jewel...
That voice, that wonderful voice...
i love this version, so beautiful
Heartbreaking song of Neil about loneliness...
I love these different renditions
This is beautiful 💔
A DIAMOND version ! DO NOT Compare ! Just take it if you like it ! Here is another feeling of the Song by Neil !
Brilliant singer and gorgeous to look at 😍
Can t beat neil.singing his songs giving such meaning thank you
Great song by a great star! Brings back memories everytime I hear this song!!!!!1

He truly is the best.
Have loved the music and voice of this man since i first heard cracklin rosie

A GREAT SONG covered by so many music IS our SOUL
Very, very beauty-full ....
Love this guy
truly madly deeply♥
A great cover of a great song by the walker Brothers
An amazing cover. Just stumbled on it today. What a great interpretation. He makes it his.
De beste zanger, de mooiste stem en liedjes, marian
Thanks
Simplemente el mas grande de todos los tiempos NEIL DIAMOND.
love the accent!
Love it.
Me encanta esta version! Como pasa el tiempo!
Really, really nice version and I love Neil---- but I'll take the Walker Brothers any day of the week, month or year. Some people think the Walker version is over orchestrated but that's exactly what I love about it.
Listened to walker brothers version and they are not even close.

Bravo neill..
he was awared with a special life to delude the world, and ended in him being losing his mind
Love you music Danmark
there is nothing better than the version from the Walker Brothers
I agree Kitty. I love the man!
Gosto muito.
Linda música.
HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY
La mejor versión de esta canción...
The composers behind this tune are Bob gaudio and Bob Crewe, there would have been no Frankie Valli without those two writing most of the hits for the Four Seasons...
I thought at one point he was gonna say the Hell with this and go right into Sweet Caroline
No, no and no again! Neil Diamond blew this one in every way possible!
Didn't it get any better? I fell asleep at the 2 min mark. I mean lets be honest, it took Elvis Presley to make 'Sweet Caroline' exciting! Elvis Presley - Sweet Caroline (1970).
That ain't no shit, this is fucking awful. It's propper place would be the dumpster out back after he left the studio.
hirdy6 I disagree but hey...that's show biz!
+hirdy6
But you're an idiot who knows nothing about music, Elvis murdered the two songs of Neil Diamond's he covered.
+Dave Radstock... Elvis was truly one of the greats of music but many of the covers he did of other people's music were almost too awful for words. When he shone brightly, not many could touch him but when he erred in his choice of songs for the many concert stages he frequented...he really blew them.
So sorry Neil, The Walker Bros. own this song.
back here :(
This is well done but I would rate the versions as follows:
1) Walker Brothers 2)Jay and the Americans 3) The Four Seasons 4) Neil
Está canción es bella en todos los covers . Eddy Castro en español también bellísima
i'll take neil who was a walker fan - i will take neil's
@Treaty4 I only know this version & it's perfect & I love it!:)
He did it HIS way. Is it as good as the Walker Bros or 4 Seasons? Just different. If I could only have it by one artist it would be the Walker Bros.
The original was by Franki Valli in 1965, The Walker Brother's is a cover.
@shilo507 - the walker brother's got the song from Bob Crewe who wrote the song for his band the Four Season.
I like the walker brothers version they sound great in my opinion the walker brothers is the only version
Sorry but There's Only One Version That Can't Be Duplicated!!! Scott Walker! R.I.P.
i like this version, niel has his charms, but i still think the frankie valley version is best, though this one is very good
Nobody can compare to the Walker Brothers for this one….not even Neal
The original was done by Frankie Valli And The 4 Seasons, written by Bob Gaudio with Bob Crewe their Producer assisting on the lyrics.
From a thumbs up. Where did you get your pictures?
Hehe ever lived in Northumberland mate? lol
I know the Walker Brothers did this song and did it well yet I like Neil's version and heard him sing it here in town many years ago I think better than it is on this recording. Early Neil was the best but the Diamond songs now are far worse he has lost touch and his background music is not what it was back then
I agree, he lost it a long time ago.
Have you even listened to Home Before Dark? Brilliant work.
@shilo507 Not to be "that guy," but the original version is by Frankie Valli.
I like the way he does the chorus but not the verses.
niel any song live > though haha
Love Neil, one of the best from the 60s, but he's talking this song too much. Walkers better even though it's over orchestrated over the vocals
they projected a strength with the song
El Diamante és úna Joya rara?? desde cuando? que yo sepa és la Joya mas Clasica desde que el Mundo és mundo, O las traducciones son malas O la Gente no sabe de que habla.
This doesn't make me think of zombies.
The best version is by Quantize.
Love Neil Diamond, but he totally lacks the feeling of the Walker Brothers version.
i guess air supply is the most perfect for this song...
The Walkers brothers are a lot better
Phung Ngo Neill zingt dit lied op een andere manier, zijn manier, zoals hij het wilt, liefs marian.
Lacklustre. He's almost talking the lyrics rather than singing them.
@shilo507 Sorry but Neil really didn't hit home on this one.
Such a truly GREAT song--several versions ALL good--except Southside Johnnie's--just terrible!
Sorry Neil. The Walker Brothers are the owners of this song. You don't come close.
I agree, doesn't work for Neil. Sorry Neil fans.
sorry! walker brothers much better!
+terrence gurnee He always does a great job, but cant compare to the Walker Brothers!
Slows it down....
other have sung it much better---as Walker Brothers
This definitely is terrible .. one that Neil should forget ...
