The Walker Brothers were an American pop group of the 1960s and 1970s that included Scott Engel (eventually known professionally as Scott Walker), John Walker (born John Maus, but using the name Walker since his teens) and Gary Leeds (eventually known as Gary Walker). After moving to Britain in 1965, they had a number of top ten albums and singles there, including the No. 1 chart hits "Make It Easy on Yourself" and "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine (Anymore)", both of which also made the US top 20. In between the two was the lesser US hit "My Ship is Coming In".
Formed in 1964, they adopted the 'Walker Brothers' name as a show business touch even though the members were all unrelated - "simply because we liked it." They provided a unique counterpoint to the British Invasion by achieving much more success in the United Kingdom than in their home country, a period when the popularity of British bands such as The Beatles dominated the U.S. charts. For the 58 thousand young men and women who didn't come home from Vietnam, this song is dedicated to you.
Thank. You all for your service!!! 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Can I go back to that time again please, I don't belong anymore.
Who would put a thumbs down? Artist today wish they could sing like this today!
Thumbs up if you didn't find this from anywhere but only remembered it because it was an awesome song.
My heart aches that this kind of masterpiece is just part of musical history and not still being made nowadays 😢
The song is so beautiful. The harmonies so stunning and the boys so handsome. Makes me well up.
You said it. It's a time lock masterpiece. Many bands tried to copy these guys. Some did but many failed. Awesome music.
That's exactly how I feel, exactly!
@@tripodthreefoot2268 I understand,shame you can't go back in time!
Such a beautiful beautiful song you don't hear music like this anymore and it is sad very sad what they play now I wouldn't even call music
When you look at an ‘old’ person, remember they were swinging in the 1960’s! Groovy, lol.
❤❤das war meine Jugend traumhaft 🙏🙏😪
RIP the two members of The Walker Brothers
Scott Walker (January 9, 1943 - March 22, 2019), aged 76
John Walker (November 12, 1943 - May 7, 2011), aged 67
You both will always be remembered as legends.
Both born during WWII.
Their real names aren't Walker.. Thats a made up name. His real name is Scott Engel, And John Walkers real name was John Maus. And the drummers name was Al "Tiny" Schneider
@@John_Michael2000 Oh, so they weren't really brothers?
@@karensylvia9423 No. I don't know where they came up with the name Walker. And they aren't British. Scott Engel was born in Southern California. I think they were having trouble getting a recording contract here, and so some producer took them over to the UK where they became huge!
@@John_Michael2000 Oh nice. Thank you so much for the info. I love this song.
Scott Walker one of the most versatile, powerful singers of his era.
❤Phil Spector's wall of sound with the Walker Brothers. They sound like The Righteous Brothers. ❤
Scott Walker such a haunting voice. A true legend. RIP
Dedicate this to my young brother who passed away at age 54 this year I will see you soon love you always your big brother Albert
@@albertreynolds9287 I am so very sorry! Sending you my deepest condolences and hugs. I am also 54 yrs old, and am counting my blessings. My health isn't the best.

I heard the way this music sounds is what they call Wall of sound
Easily one of the greatest ever produced songs of all time
Scott Walker, beautiful voice. He was ahead of his time. Bowie was a huge fan.
That’s saying something.
Hi Roberta
Now days theres only falsetto singers..no one with beautiful manly voices.
We all adored their music so many many years ago ... And still adore them. We were only twenty years old. ♥️♥️♥️
R.I.p. John. How badly do we need these kinds of vocal groups today.
BADLY
we don't need anything
This is certainly one song that helps represent what the 60s sounded like.
When I'd hear this song on the radio in the 60's I'd think everything was right with the world, that there was hope, vision, and a better future. As a nation we struggled for rightness and justice, and we were doing the right thing. There will never be another time like that.
I agree
I'm afraid not.
Wow yes what a Time hold on to the memory
This reads like something Hunter S Thompson would write.
@@brendenmoore5513 yes, it is delusional
All you aching hearts. I wish I knew you. I feel the same.
Una de las mejores Bandas,The Walker Brothers y unas de las baladas mejor de los 60, Años inolvidables de felicidad....
As Long As You have Your Memories ! and Listen to your Songs Your Husband Will Live in your Heart for the rest of your Life !
God wish I could go back and live at that time, I miss my life then
I heard this song being played on National Public Radio as they went to a commercial break, and it was being played in remembrance of Scott Walker, because he'd just died. I hadn't heard the song since the 1960's when I was a kid, but I recognized it immediately as one of the melodies that was truly great and which I loved. After rediscovering this hit upon his death, I've been playing it many times and watching this and one other video the most often. I love this song.
Cant catch much sweeter than this.....
He has a wonderful voice...
Loveed them and this song:) love, judy
Excellent, one of my late wife Marys favourite singer and song.Oui.
Hi Pierce
❤The Walker Brothers❤
...some songs are timeless...like this one....but not many...
Hard to watch this now that wev'e lost john and scott. This is without a doubt one of the most brilliant pop performances of all time .
Timeless song, people get old and die. Memories live forever. I recall hearing this song, when I found out tv actress Rebecca Schaeffer from My Sister Sam was killed by that psycho fan in 1990. So sad. . the group was before my time, what talent.
It was mimed as is obvious from Scott totally missing the first lines...so miming to a recording albeit a great recording isn't in my eyes a brilliant pop performance. It's a brilliant song, and a great recording, but this performance makes me cringe....
I've just lost my mum..maybe I should play this at her funeral 😔
Such a beautiful song and voice. Very few are talented like this these days.
Well I'm sorry he died Scott Walker dying rest in peace wherever you're at I'm going to miss your voice man going to miss that guy I love that song Thanks for the Memories 😇😇😇😇😇🎼🎼🎼🎼
Don’t mean to sound negative, and I know it’s a personal opinion, but are there any at all who have this kind of a voice?
@@claychase2585 No!

Such an amazingly beautiful and soulful voice at such a young age!
Here Comes The Night & Walking In The Rain are 2 other WB favorites of mine
Scot Walker war so schön
und hatte eine bomben Stimme.❤
A true timeless classic that
I never get tired of hearing
What a voice! This was absolutely huge in Europe and challenged any other white soul performers anywhere. Also remember 'My Ship is Comin' In'.
Do we have to use the caveat “white?”
@@claychase2585 Yes, because the Walker Brothers and the Righteous Brothers (who preceded them) were designated as "Blue-Eyed-Soul" singers by all the 1960s magazines, artists and producers. It was such a common radio term then, and is still an identifier today, in music history. Look it up. Not everything is "racist." Sometimes it's HISTORICAL.
He and Bill Medley beautiful voices!just gives you chills! They dont make them like this anymore💕💕💕
I would have liked to have seen The Righteous Brothers cover this song as it seems to be right up their alley.
Einfach nur toll.Erinnert an schönere Zeiten der unbeschwerten Jugend.Aber ganz bestimmt.L .G.
I love Scott Walker and the Walker Brothers. Scott's voice is a powerhouse simply magnificent. The Walker Brothers were huge in the UK more so than here in the USA. The Brits imo have superior tastes in pop music.
Phenomenal. In my soundtrack of life.
Love this still.2020.❤️❤️💜❤️❤️❤️
"Loneliness is the cloak you wear"- as good as any opening lyric ever written! Oh yeah, the voices ain't too shabby either.
Did you know this was a 4 seasons song written by crew and gaudio.
@@stuartbrixton6260 I did not. Thanks for the info. Hard to envision Frankie Valli singing the lead on this.
Stunning, both vocally and visually - especially the late John Maus - was there ever a more handsome man.
I have always loved this song and how this group performs it. Fantastic!
Beautiful voice..don't make these songs any more ...
Happy days .xxx

My all time favorite Walker Brothers song!
I remember this on the radio. When music was great...
Just a great time for music, and this song and these singers were at the top. Rest in Peace, John.
These guys didn't need autotune. They were always perfectly in tune.
They are lip-syncing in this clip tho?
Yes, they are lip, syncing here, but they did not need auto tune when they sang live
Ya know what I'm saying?
They have the reverb
This was music. Vocals pure not screaming like today's music.
Timeless, talent 👏 real voice, real arrangements! NO AUTO TUNE,,
Such a classic - so many years later - beautiful voice Scott - RIP X
Scott walker best singer ever ,what a voice 🤪
Was a young girl when this came out. Beautiful even now.

What a beautiful song. I had this song on my local oldies station and I just had to come here on YT to see it performed by the group. These Walker brothers really delivered. A masterpiece from a very strong music era that produced so much great music. I’m telling you 60’s-80’s was the greatest era of music ever. 50’s not to far behind.
Loved this.. still love it 2020❤️💜❤️❤️❤️

Cette chanson est tellement belle, forte, bouleversante et cette voix si sensuelle. Elle traverse les décennies sans rien perdre de son aura...
I saw them live at the odeon, Birmingham back in the 60’s they were great, one had pink suit the other blue.
Hello 👋, How are you doing?
Love this song makes me remember all the good times growing up
I love this band. They're sublime. Scott's solo material also keeps me alive. LOVE.

The Walker Brothers :) You gave The Beatles some competition :)
I was a young boy when i listened to you and i still do :)....

my mom was cleaning the house, window open, summertime, extreme hot but the fresh summerwind.
and this song full power.
i am 44 now and when i hear this i got exactly those pictures in my head.
my 70's young mom in the summertime, cleaning the house.
love this sweet little memories
I have to say there's always a song that may not be of the time you were born but sounds great. I was born 1977 but heard it years later
i was in NYC when i first heard this song .every time i hear it i always think of that
A voice for the ages ... legend ...
Scott Walker (real name Scott Engel) had a truly amazing voice. Unfortunately, he subsequently became disillusioned with the pop world and refused to sing using his wonderful baritone voice and would only make weird-sounding recordings before his death. His refusal to sing as he had before was a huge huge loss. I could still listen to him for hours and hours.
I saw a documentary on Scott Walker by accident. I looked up the Walker Brothers, now I am hooked. Perfect pop confection with a dash of wall of sound.
One of my Very special of my adolescence
Best descriptors I’ve read today; well done!
Great song, great voice.
